Video Transcript for Review of Demco Trailer Brake Mounting Flange - DM52415

Hi, everybody, Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a real quick look at this Demco Trailer Brake Mounting Flange. Now, this brake flange is going to weld onto the end of your trailer axle to give you a secure attachment point for your brake assembly. And lemme go ahead and give you some measurements just so you can be confident this is going to work for you. So beginning with the overall measurements, as you can see, this is 4.5 inches wide. That's gonna be the same for the height, 4.5 inches tall.

Looking at the pilot hole diameter, you can see it's three inches. And then, you can also see, obviously, this is a four bolt hole pattern. Lemme see if I can give you the measurements of those holes on center. So lining that up there. So going across first, we're almost 3.5 inches.

I'm gonna call it a 3 7/16 inches on center, going across. A diagonal might be a little bit trickier to show, but lemme see if I can line this up here for you so you can see. Right. So on center, looks like we're sitting almost five inches. I'm gonna call it at about 4 13/16 inches on center diagonally.

Hopefully, those measurements were helpful for you. This is a sturdy steel construction. Again, a weld-on installation. So if those specs match up, what you're looking for, this is gonna be just what you need. Well, that's gonna wrap up our quick look today.

I do hope that it was helpful for you. Again, my name is Andy. Thank you for joining me.

  • Looking To Replace The Braking System On My 1987 Flatbed Trailer
Hey Greg, I do not see any 12" 5 on 5-1/2 that we carry so I imagine they are either extinct or limited selection. The parts you mentioned, the backing plate # DM52415 , hub and drums # AKHD-555-35EZK, and brakes AKEBRK-35-SA in those quantities look like just what you need in order to keep the wheels and tires. The drums are pre greased ready to slide on and the brake assemblies will be a simple bolt on once the backing plate is welded. I hope everything is okay after the broken system...

  • Recommended Brake Assemblies and Hubs for a Old Style Trailer w/ a 6 on 5-1/2 Lug Nut Pattern
Hey Liam. All of our 10" brake assemblies like item # 23-454-455 have a 4-bolt brake mounting flange. The Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly item # 8-407-5UC3-EZ you were looking at is not available in a 12" drum. We do not have a 12" braking hub that fits your spindle. The only option I would have for you is to replace the brake flange on your axle with the item # 4-50 for 3-1/2" diameter axles or item # DM52415 for 3" diameter axles. If you were able to do this you could use the Dexter...

  • Can a Hayes 10 x 1 5/8" Braking Assembly W/ No Mounting Flange Be Converted to a Standard Flange
So the short answer is no, there is nothing you can do to your current mounting plate to make another braking assembly fit your current setup. What you have is pretty unique, and when the team and myself took a look at it we were all in agreement that the best step forward is to cut of your current flange and weld on a new one. Now this is a pretty intensive project and is going to require a special jig that is designed specifically for this, so this isn't something you're going to be...

  • Can a Brake Flange Be Added To a Trailer Axle With Idler Hubs To Add Electric Brakes
As I do not see that we currently have a trailer axle with a 93" hub face to hub face you are going to be best to have the brake flange welded in place. To ensure this is done properly you will want to find a trailer shop with a jig to ensure the brake flange is welded on in the correct position and straight on the axle to prevent misalignment on the axle. Here is a list of the different sized brake flanges you will need to select from. Brake Mounting Flange for 1-3/4" Round Axle # 4-34 Brake...

  • Can Electric Brakes be Added to Trailer that Currently Has Idler Hub Installed
You can indeed add electric brakes to a trailer that is equipped with idler hub assemblies. With regards to the axle, you will want to check and see if the axle on your trailer has brake mounting flanged attached. If one is present (see attached image), then nothing on the axle itself needs to be replaced or altered. You will just move on to locating the correct hub and drum assemblies, brake assemblies, and wiring in order to equip the trailer with electric brakes. If there is not a...

  • Troubleshooting Installation of Electric Brakes With 4 Bolt Brake Flange
The measurements for the brake flange and the bolt pattern on trailer brakes is a center to center measurement, not outside to outside. The electric brakes you have appear to be using the industry standard which is typically listed as 2-3/4" or 2-7/8" with the actual dimension being more like 2-13/16". I can't exactly tell by the pictures but it looks like the two measurements you have there are incredibly close so if you have not tried to install these I recommend double checking to...

  • How To Determine Parts Needed To Add Electric Brakes To Stehl ST80TD Tow Dolly
I would be happy to recommend the parts needed to add electric brakes and new bearings on your 2010 Stehl ST80TD Tow Dolly, but first I will need you to confirm which bearings your spindle uses and if you already have a brake mounting flange installed. I reached out to Stehl with the VIN number you provided for your 2010 Stehl ST80TD Tow dolly and they were unable to provide any information on which bearings your dolly uses. I recommend removing the hub from one of the spindles, and checking...

  • Trailer Brake Flange for a 3500-LB Axle
Typically, 3500-lb axles have a 2-3/8" diameter. If this is your correct axle diameter, then the correct mounting flange for you is part # 4-35. If your correct axle diameter is in fact 3", then the correct mounting flange is part # DM52415. We do not have a 2-7/8" axle option. Either way, the flange will need to be welded on, so I recommend having a professional welder do this so they perfectly aligned.

  • Replacement Drum Brakes and Hubs for 3500-lb AL-KO Axles
You can use larger brakes and hubs by matching up the brake mounting pattern to your flanges and by selecting new hubs that use the same bearing set as your current hubs. Matching the bearings will ensure the new hubs fit properly on your spindles. The linked photo shows the usual location of bearing numbers. If you wanted to use 4-bolt AxleTek # AKEBRK-35L and # AKEBRK-35R electric drum brakes and if your hubs use inner/outer bearings # L68149 and # L44649 you could use hub/drum # AKHD-545-35-K....

  • Electric Trailer Brakes for 4-Bolt Flange 2-5/8" x 3-5/8" Apart
I do have an option for you but none of our trailer brake assemblies are designed for this brake mounting flange pattern. Therefore, I recommend new flanges which will need welded to the axle; part # 4-34 for 1-3/4"axles, part # 4-35 for 2-3/8" axles, and part # DM52415 for 3" axles.

  • Availability of 4 Bolt Mounting Flange for Electric Brake Assemblies
It sounds like you are looking for a brake mounting flange for your trailer axle. For 4 bolt mounting flanges, we have the following plates available: For 3-1/2 inch axles: # 4-50 For 3 inch axles: # DM52415 For 2-3/8 inch axles: # 4-35 For 2-3/4 inch axles: # DM60124 For 1-3/4 inch axles: # 4-34 Brake mount flanges will need to be welded to the end of your axle and will provide a secure mounting place for the brake assemblies. I recommend having a qualified welder perform the installation.

  • Replacement Parts for 18k Triple Axle Trailer
Hi Jeff; assuming 3tubes meant 3" axle tubes/axle diameter you can use the Demco Trailer Brake Mounting Flange # DM52415 for 3" axles. However, if those bearing measurements are correct it indicates you have a # LM48548 inner bearing. We don't carry any hubs that use this bearing. I will also need to know the axle capacity to find the right brake assemblies. The closest thing we have for a hub and drum is the # 8-407-5UC3-EZ which uses the # L68149 outer bearing with a 1.378" inner diameter...

  • Can Electric Trailer Brakes Be Added To A Boat Trailer
With the quality of materials and better wiring insulation on modern electric trailer brakes, you can definitely use them on a boat trailer like your single axle Custom Performance trailer for your Catalina 22 sailboat. I would still recommend unplugging the trailer connector from your vehicle when backing the trailer in the water as an extra layer of security. Now to determine the correct brakes, and components necessary you will need to find a few key bits of information on your trailers...
