What's up everybody It's AJ with etrailer.com. Today we're gonna be checking out this breakaway cable from Bright Way. This is gonna be a replacement part for your breakaway switch. It's gonna be the cable that attaches to the switch to your vehicle to make sure it applies the brakes when it's pulled. Let's check it out. It's gonna be 42 inches in length and it's gonna have the nylon coating on the braided steel so it will hold up.
One thing to definitely check is the one on your trailer right now, connect to the breakaway switch. If the nylon has gone away, that's gonna mean the element's gonna rust that cable and it could fail on you and you definitely want it to apply the brakes when it's supposed to apply the brakes. If you're replacing the cable that was already on your breakaway switch, I do have a suggestion. If the length is too much, you end up having to wrap it up or use the zip tie to take some of the cable up or it hangs too low, maybe catching on things, there is another option. We have the Fastway coil design, so you're gonna have the heavy-duty carabiner here clip.
Clips on the one side. You plug this in just the same, but now you see how tight that cable stays, so it's not gonna droop down or hang. Now these are gonna be universal fits, so even if you don't have the Bright Way breakaway switch, you can use this on other brands as long as it matches this design. Overall, really easy to replace the cable and definitely worth it. I would recommend picking up a second one just so you have it ready.

This was a perfect fit for my break-away brake controller. However, be careful to select the correct size/configuration of pin, as there are multiple styles available.

etrailer had the part I needed and it arrived in short time.
I bought this cable and pin as a spare. This replacement is exactly what I needed. I wish I had this spare on hand after I damaged the original pin. These pins are plastic and if you forget to disconnect the cable from the tow vehicle’s hitch and drive off with the pin dragging behind you then you’ll probably end up needing the spare.

My cable and pin were delivered quickly and the pin fit in great. However, when I was installing my pin, I noticed some missing plastic on the body of my breakaway switch. I then ordered a new switch just to have on hand, for insurance.
