Features to know about

Keep Moving on Snow-Covered Roads: Diamond Pattern Delivers Steady Grip

When the road gets slick or covered in fresh snow, these Konig chains keep your tires biting into the surface. The diamond pattern keeps more of the chain in constant contact with the ground, giving smoother traction and better stability than traditional ladder chains. Combined with square links that dig in evenly, they help you climb steep, icy grades and roll through deep, packed snow without slipping around.

Skip the Hassle of Retightening: Self-Tensioning System Does the Work

Once these chains are on, you can just drive off—no need to stop and tighten them. The self-tensioning mechanism automatically centers and secures the chain around your tire as you move. That means you only need to get out of your vehicle once, even in active snowfall, saving time and keeping you out of the cold. Reviewers love how simple it is to mount these and how they stay snug no matter the road.

Tackle Cold Conditions with Confidence: Manganese Nickel Alloy Steel Holds Up

Built from high-quality manganese nickel alloy steel, these chains stand up to tough winter driving and resist corrosion from road salt and moisture. They’re designed to last through years of snow and ice without weakening or rusting. The powder-coated side chain and nylon bumpers also keep your rims safe from scratches, so you can focus on traction instead of damage.

Smooth Performance in Tight Spaces: Class S Design Fits Where Others Can’t

If your vehicle has limited wheel-well clearance, these chains are made to work within that space. They meet SAE Class S standards and need only 1/2" of internal clearance, so you get reliable traction without interference. That low-profile build also makes for a quieter, steadier ride on snowy pavement and light ice.

Ready for the Next Storm: Compact Pair with Long-Term Reliability

Each set includes 2 chains that fit 16"–18" tires and come packed in a durable nylon storage bag for easy stowing between seasons. With their 5-year warranty and proven performance in rough winter conditions, these chains are the kind of gear you can count on year after year when the snow piles up.

Confirming Your Fit

If you know your tire size, you may think you won't need to test fit your new chains. But there are a lot of variables that can affect whether chains will fit your specific tires, including your tire type, the amount of air pressure in the tire, the amount of tread wear, and the tire manufacturer.

We recommend that you order chains as early in the season as possible to give yourself plenty of time to test fit the chains and reorder if needed. This way, you won't be stuck out in the cold later with snow chains that don't fit.

You can test fit these chains in your garage or driveway, but you'll want to wait until there's snow on the ground to actually drive with them. Likewise, if you're out in the snow and come across bare pavement, you'll want to pull over and remove the chains. These chains can cause damage to the bare pavement, your garage floor, or your vehicle if they break from the wear of riding on a harsh surface.

Previously my only experience with chains was using cable chains on front wheel drive cars, where turning the wheels was necessary to ensure they had a good fit.

I bought these chains for my 2023 Kia EV6 with stock 235/55/19 tires. The instruction manual for the car says to put chains on the rear wheels and I was worried that getting chains on the rear wheels would be difficult. Despite never having used this style of chains before I was easily able to test-fit both chains with 15 minutes, and the chains fit very snuggly and didn't move when I move the car a cars length. Getting the inner loop positioned right is something that took a couple tries to get right, and I'm sure there might be a bit more room for improvement :)

I was slightly concerned about the chains damaging the rims or other parts of the car, but with the included spacers (not applied in the picture) I think this won't be a problem.

I'm taking the car up to the snow this weekend and if I use the chains I'll provide an update.

etrailer did a great job clearly communicating to me when my chains would arrive with no fuss.

by:

Outstanding service! With an upcoming trip and recent snow storm etrailer helped me get my snow chains just in time for our vacation. Without the chains I would have been screwed. Communication with this company is impressive. The original chains I ordered would not have arrived in time and the sales team called me right away to find alternative solutions. Chains for 315/35/20 size tires are not easy to find. Really happy with my purchase. Thank you.

by:

These chains are excellent quality and super easy to install. I watched the video and hold them out of the package line them up. Click them together. The tensioner works great. I rolled the truck back-and-forth. They are on and tight. It is well worth the money to have something high-quality that will work more than once.

by:

I bought these for my 2022 Honda Odyssey for a trip to Colorado. We had to use them during a chain law enforcement through Wolf Creek Pass. They're easy to put on and take off and performance was spot on through snow pack and ice. Recommend getting familiar with them in clear conditions prior to use as its more difficult. I had no problems and would recommend for anyone, especially the novice.

by:

Well, I would say a little harder to put on correctly than advertised, but I called customer support and they helped me. Also watching all of the videos helped because each one was worded a little differently. Definitely would suggest one or two dry runs before you are in the elements. Important to realize to slide the plastic coated cable to the backside of the tire and center the chains after connecting the plastic coated cable and the small red hook. Once I figured this out I was able to almost perfectly center the chains (at least on one tire). On the other tire I couldn't get it perfectly centered (see photos). After about an 1/8 of a mile of very low speed driving it still didn't center but maybe with more driving at higher speeds it would. Also important to remember to have the yellow end of the chain on your right hand side beofore sliding behind the tire and making the first connection. One question I still have is how tight to pull the tension cable after you put it through the stop device. Every video seems a little bit different as to how tight you pull the cable by hand before connecting it to the tensioning device. As far as taking them off I tried four times to line up my car perfectly so I wouldn't have to drive over the chains after disconnecting them but this was not possible for me. So, with the plastic coated cable on top I just disconnected the connections in reverse and then put all the hooks and components off to the side and drove off/over the chains, which seemed to work fine. Will see how they work in the snow and ice but I'm hopeful they will do well.

by:

Very impressed! On a cement floor you can have the chains installed and snugged in under 10 minutes. Also an excellent increase in traction for a RWD van. Definitely recommend the konig XG-12's. Haven't installed while travelling but I don't think it will be very difficult.

by:

These are really easy to put on and take off. I have used them three times on my 2019 chevy colorado (4wd) to deal with high elevation mountain snow. After each use, I washed them, hung to dry and then put back in the truck. They are so awesome, I recommend them to others.

by:

I have a 2019 Honda CRV and have never owned tire chains before so I dont have anything to compare these to but they are easy to put on and take off and they conquer a steep icy unpaved drive way in The Catskills perfectly. There are some plastic parts that probably should be metal. One of them - the tension hook - broke on one of my chains (see photo) and when I reported this to etrailer.com with a photo to prove it, they sent another set. So I am pleased overall with the service from etrailer.com but am only giving 4 stars for the product on account of the breakage. Also they rusted after one season but that hasn't impacted performance.

by:

I love these chains, and etrailer is the best! As a 69 yr old retired grandma, I work part-time at a ski resort. A few weeks ago, we were expecting 8-10 inches of snow/ice and I was scheduled to work. So, I put these idiot-proof, color-coded, self-adjusting chains on my Highlander front low profile tires and waited for weather. See photo. I worked my full shift, came out to ice/snow in dark, and drove safely home. Oh, and the carrying case comes with a folded plastic sheet, but with my old knees I added a foam pad!

by:

I think this is the fourth pair of these chains I have purchased for various vehicles. I have had great success with these over the years. No chains are "easy" to put on but these make it about as easy as it can be. Once you are familiar with the process it takes only a few minutes per tire. The self-tensioning is the best feature. The storage box even has a hook and loop pad on the back so it won't slide around in your carpeted trunk or back seat. I got these for my '25 F150 Lariat. Our vacation home is at the end of a one-mile lane that is steep, snow covered all winter and usually icy in places from the sun. Snow tires and chains are a necessity for us.

by:

I was looking to have snow tire chains for my upcoming trip to northern Wisconsin. I found these to be very easy to install as the instructions were very clear. I like that they come with a case to make them easy to store in my Ford Escape.

by:

I needed chains for my FWD Volvo up in the Catskills, NY. I have a dirt driveway, the FWD Volvo from 2017 can’t handle an inch of snow/ice surprisingly for a Swedish car. I searched for high quality chains and ended up here. I asked Josh questions before purchasing, he was so helpful. The chains are magic, tricky to install the first time, but now I can install easily. They work so well. They store back in their plastic box easily to place in the trunk. Very pleased.

by:

Tunnel View at Yosemite. Chains worked perfectly, but not quite as easy to install as the video would suggest. I made the mistake of pulling over into 3-4 inches of snow to put them on. The snow packed around the base of the tire made it very difficult. That's not something you encounter when practicing in your nice warm garage. But once on, the chains stayed secure, and the car handled and braked with confidence.

by:

Very happy with how easy it is to install these. I really appreciated the installation videos showing the different tire sizes - we got the right size first try for both of my cars. These are the only chains I will order from now on. Highly recommend.

by:

I had called multiple places and searched Google trying to find chains for my tire size, but no one had results for the make, model, and year of my vehicle. Since I had purchased chains from etrailer years ago for my previous car, I decided to give them a call.

I spoke with Abbey, who was also confused as to why my tire size wasn’t showing any product matches. She placed me on a brief hold to consult with an expert, and it turned out they did have the right product. I purchased the chains and installed them for a fitting—and they worked perfectly!

Thank you, Abbey, for going the extra mile to find a solution and the right product for my needs. Great customer service!

Great Service, Fast delivery!!!

by:

Thanks for the quick delivery.

by:

Yes we like our chains. Although our Van was rear ended and so we have been renting a van for a few months! Had to use the chains on our rental.

by:

Finally got to use these chains after owning them for 12 months. They were fairly easy to use and made a huge difference when driving down a snow-covered dirt road. Without out them we would have been stranded. Being self-tensioning made fitting really easy. Worth the money.

by:

Having wrestled with chains for going over passes growing up in Montana, these are like "night and day" getting them on and off a vehicle!! No loose chain link ends to beat up your fenders, don't have to roll the tires to fasten them up, and self tighten on their own. Work great!!

by:

Quick shipping and great comms from etrailer. Practicing installing at home payed off in the wild. I was literally in and out of “pit lane” in 5 minutes! The chains were pretty quiet and performed well in 25 degree, snowy, icy conditions. Great engineering and solidly made.

by:

Fantastic, would buy again. Pulled out a couple jeeps with big tires. Sometimes the only thing that'll get you moving are snow chains

  • Tire Chain Fit for 35 x 11.5 x 20 Tires on 2016 GMC Sierra 2500
I spoke with my contact at Titan Chain, who recommended the # TC3235CAM. He said that the width is correct, but the chain might be a couple of inches longer than what you actually need, but once you've fitted it to the tires you can always use bolt cutters to remove the excess for a perfect fit. The chain set includes cam tighteners for a good fit, but separately available tensioners like part # TCOA2 would be a good addition to ensure a tight fit. I've linked to a demonstration video...

  • Which is Better Snow Chains for Tire Size 235/75R15 Titan or Konig Chains
The Titan chains you referenced # TC2519 are a really great value and they will do a solid job but the Konig chains part # TH2004705235 are the better option. They install a little easier, provide better traction, and are made from harder metals so they will last a lot longer. This is definitely the way to go. For the absolute best option I would recommend the Konig Easy Fit Chains part # TH04115245 as they literally install in seconds as well as all of the other things I mentioned for...

The Konig Tire Chains part # TH2004705235 are not a fit for your tire size of 225/50R18 so they would not work for you. The CG-9 Konig chains part # TH2004205104 that you mentioned are a fit and would work for your tire size. I am not sure where you saw that the # TH2004705235 fits but it definitely does not.

  • What Tire Chains do You Recommend for My 2011 Toyota RAV4?
I double-checked the owner's manual for your 2011 Toyota RAV4, and you are correct in saying that the manual does not mention Class S requirements for tire chains/cables. However, Class S chains are generally a great idea because they are made for vehicles with limited wheel well clearance. Chains also gives you more overall traction than cables. For example, for a great option for class S chains, I recommend the Konig Self-Tensioning Snow Tire Chains - Diamond Pattern - D Link - XG12 Pro...

The self-tensioning mechanism means you don't have to get out of the vehicle once the chains are installed to make adjustments, just set once and go.
