Question:
I have a BMW X1 xDrive28i and need snow chains for a couple of trips to snow this winter. I haven’t used snow chains on a AWD car before - do I need 2 or 4 chains?

For an all-wheel drive vehicle like your 2017 BMW X-1, you will need four chains to traverse the snow/ice safely.
The Konig Self-Tensioning Snow Tire Chains, part # TH2004705235, that you referenced comes in a set of two (a pair), so you will need to order two to cover all four tires. I've linked to a video review of these chains for you to look at.
These chains fit tires with a size of 225/45-19, which is a common size for your vehicle. If this is not your tire size, let me know and I will help you find the proper chains.
