Not as advertised. There are several issues with this bike carrier. First, this is supposed to be able to hold 3 bikes. The spacing on the forks is at a distance that two bikes if a very common brand almost didn’t fit. I had to have one cradle at an angle to fit the frame. This also made it difficult to fit the third bike because I couldn’t slide it side to side to allow the handle bars and pedals to fit best. When I finally could get the third bike on, the weight, which was under the advertised limit caused the flip up gears to start to bend and almost separate. Because they were plastic, I was afraid they would break if any bouncing occurred during the trip. I tightened the gears as tight as I could get them and there was still a gap in some of the teeth.
Issue two is how it mounted to the tire. The webbing supplied is fairly flimsy. The buckle part of the ratchet barely keeps it tight. The hook to attach to the frame interferes with the window wiper. Once attached, I tried to get it as tight as I could, but even so, it still felt loose, especially when loaded with bikes. After a trip around town, the whole thing was leaning to the side. It would have been better to mount to the tire studs with the lug nuts or other metal bracket and bolts.
When I finally did use it for a longer trip, I was not confident that it could hold three bikes. I was able to only need to drive two bikes. I spent most of the trip worried that it would break while driving on the highway. Straps loosened and the whole thing tilted during this trip.
Overall, this was a waste of money. I would really only trust it for a single bike, and even then, with caution. I would prefer a bike rack with arms that have a metal hinge, or one that pins and locks in place. I would also rather one with arms closer together. I only picked this one because I didn’t have a hitch and didn’t want to mess with a through bolt in the middle of the spare tire.
It’s terrible quality, it broke the first time I used it, even though my bikes are not even heavy. I almost caused an accident due to the breaking of the bike rack in the middle of the highway, my bikes fell off and one of them broke ($400 repair)Poor quality, very fragile and there’s no way that it can hold three bikes.
Yesterday we tried this rack, and I have to say that at first it was a challenge. We installed everything according to instructions, but during our ride to the bike trail the rack started to shift under the weight of bikes, although we placed only two bikes on it. The top bar leaned left about 20 degrees. We had to stop and check the safety of installation. It seemed sturdy enough, although not straight. We made it to our destination, but felt rather nervous over every bump and had to drive slowly. Before our trip back we straightened the rack, and the ride back home was fine without problems and any shifting.
The bike rack arrived quickly. It was missing a wrench. We read the directions but found a video that was very helpful to us in setting the rack in place.
Very easy assembly, fits perfect!
The eTrailer has been a God send and we are so grateful. Our son-in-law died from COVID last year which left our daughter and two grand-daughters alone. This eTrailer was a gift which allows the three of them to get out for bike rides whenever they need to “clear their heads” and be refreshed in God’s glorious creation. This is the ONLY three bike carrier we know of… and Thank You for making it available. God bless.
Seems quite sturdy. Retaining straps are a pain to get through the buckles. Recommend setting the rack on a flat surface, I used the truck tailgate, to start the straps through the buckles. Otherwise an easy install , fits tight on the spare tire. I got this to carry our folding wheeled walkers also known as roller-a-raters .
Moving them outside will free up a lot of room for the fur baby .

Good do not use it much as we have managed to carry our walkers inside. Still a well buolt rac.
I was excited to get this and eager to just pop it onto my spare tire like it shows in the video. 45 minutes later and I'm resigned to drilling an extra hole where the buttons are in order to tighten the hold over the tire, and chagrined that I had to "rear" my smaller bike frame angled upwards in order to seat it on the red rack receivers. This was because there wasn't enough room vertically on the frame or horizontally on the frame. Not sure how I would have been able to prepare for that, maybe there is some comment about smaller bike frames somewhere? One strap to secure the bikes is not enough in this situation, so things were strapped every which way, including the front tire of the bike so it wouldn't wobble everywhere. The bike and rack made it home for the maiden 60 mile highway trip, but I was not totally confident with it.

I do not want you to not feel safe to use the bike rack. From what you are describing it sounds like you might need to use a bike adapter bar. It would provide a horizontal mounting point by attaching from the bikes seat post to the handle bar post. To take a look at an example, look at part # 64005, as it fits with a lot of different bikes. Would you be able to send a picture of the bike rack installed and how the bikes are loaded on it?
We received the bike rack very quickly and installed it on our 2011 Rav 4. The rack seems quite sturdy but we couldn't be confident in using it. The straps holding the unit onto the spare tire, when tightened as much as humanly possible, still left the hooks somewhat loose. We simulated a bouncy dirt rocky road and the straps worked their way loose towards the sides of the spare tire thus loosening the whole unit. We felt that the whole thing could easily come off the spare tire taking our new bikes with it. We just felt like it was too risky. The way the Rav 4 spare tire is mounted makes it hard to get the straps all the way straight under the tire and, therefore, leaves them vulnerable to working their way loose and off the tire.

The 2011 RAV4 has two fairly unique features that makes fitting this particular rack a little bit of a challenge. The spare tire is offset on the rear of the vehicle and the spare tire has a smooth, hard cover. If the cover is removed, this rack will fit much better. Because of the offset tire, longer bikes could extend past the edge of the vehicle on the passenger side, which is less than ideal. Although its quite a bit more expensive, the Thule Spare Me, part # TH963PRO allows the arms of the rack to be offset so the bikes will be more centered on the rear of the vehicle.

It’s great! I just installed it, looks nice & sturdy Have used it once so far but it worked
For the price, not bad. This bike rack is a simple design, that's easy to use, but doesn't seem very secure. I have used this on an older model Rav4, which means the bike or bikes are going to stick out more on one side of the vehicle. There seems to be a lot of movement when hitting potholes and bumps in the road. If you don't plan on using this rack often, don't want to spend a lot, this may be for you. Sufficient, but not very sturdy.
I received this bike rack 2 days before it was even supposed to arrive! We had purchased another spare tire bike rack (Thule Spare Me) that would not work with the new Jeep JL due to it having to mount through the center of the tire where the camera is. This one installs over the top of the tire and then has straps that go around the tire to secure it. No tools required and we had it on the spare tire in 5 minutes. It seems very secure and we used a cable lock to lock it to the tire to prevent anyone from stealing the rack when the bikes are not on it. Will be heading out on a 1000 mile road trip soon, so that will be the real test.
Good product, easy to install, fits my Chevy Tracker perfectly. Fast shipping from etrailer.
Great product at a really good price. As always etrailer customer service was outstanding.
Item arrived several days before planned...AWESOME! Product fits my 2012 Rav4 perfectly. Installation very simple. Very sturdy! Shopped around and saw others less expensive but confident this was best value. Happy customer!
CHECK THE WEIGHT CAPACITY!! It is designed for ultra-lightweight bikes, although it does not state that on the box or in the product description. The capacity is 33 lbs per bike, whereas most adult bikes are 40+ lbs and children's bikes are around 30 lbs. We loaded this rack with two adult bikes and a child's bike (unaware of the unusually low weight capacity) and the bikes fell off the back of our jeep onto the highway! My husband had to pick them up off the interstate before anyone hit them, risking his own safety. I contacted the company, telling them what happened, and they advised that since one of our bikes was 42 lbs, they would not return the rack (which I had only purchased 2 weeks prior.) I am grateful my husband didn't get hurt, but felt compelled to let others know. The company really should note this on the box or consider re-designing the bike rack to hold bikes of typical weight.
Easy to set up and use. Had it on the back of our Wrangler for 3 months without having to readjust it, and the bikes ride nicely on it.
Package came in great condition a lot quicker than expected. This is a great company to order from. Thank you
Fits perfectly
Simple to install and seems to work wel l.
