Features to know about

Stay Level and Steady Under Load: 1,500-lb Rear Suspension Support

When heavy gear or a trailer pushes down on the rear, handling and braking can go off balance. These SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs add up to 1,500 lbs of support at 50-percent compression to help your suspension stay level and keep steering responsive. They cushion bumps, minimize sway, and reduce bottoming out when carrying serious weight.

Smooth Ride on Every Trip: Progressive Load Control

Whether the bed is empty or loaded down, the springs respond to the weight automatically. With lighter loads, they compress easily for a soft, smooth ride. As the load gets heavier, they stiffen up—compressing by as much as 80 percent—to give firm support and keep the rear from sagging. The progressive design means no harsh jolts on rough roads and stable comfort mile after mile.

Control in Corners and Uneven Roads: Independent Spring Action

Each spring works on its own, so one side can handle a heavier or uneven load without throwing off balance. This independent action helps reduce body roll when turning sharply and keeps your vehicle planted when crosswinds or uneven surfaces try to push it around.

Built Tough for Real-World Conditions: Durable Microcellular Urethane

These helper springs are made from microcellular urethane that stands up to abrasion, oil, salt, and UV rays. They keep performing in temperatures from -25 F to 200 F without deformation or cracking. Because they compress vertically with minimal side expansion, they fit tight spaces without rubbing nearby parts.

Quick Setup and No Maintenance: Simple Bolt-On Design

Installation is no-drill and straightforward—just bolt them on and you’re done. There are no airlines or valves to run and no air pressure to monitor later. Once installed, the springs work automatically every time you tow or haul.

I had the SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs installed on my 2020 Nissan NV2500 camper van (rear axil) about 4 months ago and have been very happy with how they have performed.
by:
I have had these on my 2006 Colorado for a year, great product easy install I haul a compact tractor with bucket and tiller on a single axle trailer and the truck doesn't sag. No adverse ride quality when carrying no load definitely better than installing air shocks. Highly recommend to anyone having issues with vehicle sagging when loaded.
by:
The Sumo helper springs were not difficult to install (had to jack up the rear a few inches) & I really do think they have helped with steadiness in towing our camper.
Would recommend.

@TomH Love to hear that Tom! What kind of camper are you towing?
by:
2021 Nissan NV 2500
They def helped. Nissan NV van rides a tad taller in the rear and handles towing camper well.
by:
Nissan Xterra
While I haven't used them for trailering yet, I could already feel an improvement in the tightness of the back end. Feels a little more springy now. One of my long complaints about the Xterra was the soft rear end on it and this seems to shore that up nicely. Also seems to eliminate the rear end shimmy. Installation took about 20 minutes, did not use a jack or remove tires.

Installed on a Pro 4x 4wd

Easy install and they work

I really like my set of sumo springs. Installation was easy and they give my Nissan nv2500 van excellent turning stability, especially when towing a trailer.

The sumo springs has enhance our vans ability to tow a trailer. It has also helped for softer ride.

by:
Put these on my 2015 Nissan Xterra for towing my camper trailer. I towed it last season without the Sumo Springs, and it worked fine. I put these on to avoid bottoming out my suspension on bumps (although was never a problem). Super-easy to install.
These springs had a noticeable positive impact on my vehicle's ride and towing ability. With the Sumos, it seemed more stable, less reactive to wind, and took some of the strain off of my weight distributing hitch. Without the travel trailer, I didn't really notice a difference in my vehicle's handling or stability. I'd recommend these for anyone who wants the extra suspension support when towing, but OEM ride when not towing. They were expensive, but IMHO worth it!

So far so good seems to work well for my needs.
by:
2013 Nissan Xterra
Received the parts as estimated. I reviewed the instructions chocked the front wheels and put the rear of the Xterra on jack stands. Removed the OE bumpers, installed the Sumo Springs tourqued the bolts. Removed the jack stands and lowered the vehicle. The whole operation took me 25 minutes.
I continue to buy products from “ etrailer.com”. Always the correct part and excellent installation videos. For us shade tree mechanics they are the experts.
Thank you “etrailer and staff.

still works great thank you etrailer.com

Bought these as a quick fix to failing springs. The installation was easy and I haven't bottomed out since these have been installed over a year ago. I no longer cringe when approaching rough terrain at speed.
by:
Purchase was easy and delivery was very quick. Installation was straight forward on my Nissan NV3500. Didn’t even have to jack the rear up.First impression is that I don’t notice a difference over uneven roads but it does feel more stable/ upright in turns. We will see how hooking up a trailer and pulling it would feel like.

I have been using SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs - Rear Axle for about a year. I installed these helper springs after adding a rear tire carrier and additional spare, replacement bumper heavier, and 4 gallon fuel can on the rear of my 2008 Nissan Xterra. I was hoping they would help eliminate rear end recoil when going over large bumps or dips while off road due to the increased weight on the extreme rear of the vehicle. These progressive springs do an impressive job on remedying my issue. I have much less bounce from the rear end after installing the srings and they have continued to be effective. I highly recommend.

This only pertains to the order, shipping speed, and install as I have not put a heavy load on these sumo Springs yet but I feel like that's a foregone conclusion based off the reviews already. The ordering process, the shipping, and the installation was unbelievably easy. I kept rereading the instructions thinking this can't be right because it was so simple. I looked at the YouTube video and realized it is that simple! So happy with the ordering process, the quality of the initial product I opened, and how simple it was to put on the jeep.

That is the beauty of SumoSprings! Super easy to install and once they're on you can forget they're there! Are you planning on towing something with your Jeep that you want extra support for?

@ClaireH yes Ms Claire. I plan to put a truck camper on the Jeep (that weighs in the 500-1000 lbs range). My payload is 1700 lbs so I know a camper of the weight will be significant my truck. Already ordered a stiffer rear anti-sway bar as well.

@Justin That sounds like a good plan! These SumoSprings plus the sway bar should be more than enough to handle the weight of your truck bed camper.

I put these on a 2013 Jeep JK (not lifted) that tows a 3000 lb trailer in rough terrain; Total game changer.

These replaced the anemic factory stops (which had completely disintegrated) and make it impossible to 'bottom out' on the dips and holes that use to beat up the suspension. I got nearly all of my vertical travel back and the vehicle now sits almost level under high tongue load.

They go on pretty easy. I suggest sliding in one side, and then using a wooden dowel and hammer to pop the other side in the stock receiver cup.

Highly recommended. These are a MUST if you are towing a trailer (with a medium sized SUV) of any significant weight or if you just want to be able to bounce hard without bottoming out your suspension. I am likely going to get the front suspension version now as well.
Wish I knew these existed sooner.

  • Load Rating For SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs On 2010 Nissan Xterra
The 1,000lb rating for the Blue SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs # SSR-210-40 is for the pair of springs at 50% compression. The 1,500lb rating for the Black SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs # SSR-210-47 is for the pair of springs at 50% compression.

  • Suspension Enhancement to Reduce Sag on a Nissan NV 3500
You didn't say which year Nissan NV 3500 you have but as of right now there's only one generation. We don't carry any traditional air bag kits that you inflate or deflate to your liking that fit the NV 3500 but we do have the SumoSprings Solo helper springs that are jounce springs to help keep your van level. They're not adjustable like air bags but the install is much easier and they're completely mainenance free once installed. There are two different models of the Solo; one for medium...

  • Suspension Enhancement Options For 2020 Nissan NV 2500
Seems like you're needing some suspension enhancement! I recommend using the RoadActive kit # RAS3614-T. This will help your suspension from 0 to 100% travel. It's also adjustable to get the right amount of support. If that's not enough, get some helper springs # SSR-210-47 in the rear, these will only engage when your vehicle sags enough to hit the bump stops. If you're only looking to help the last half of your suspension travel and not hinder your smooth ride when you're not hauling,...

  • SumoSprings Helper Springs for 5th Wheel Trailer
The SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs # SSR-210-47 referenced in your question are actually jounce-style springs, not air bags, so they do not feature a valve that could be used to fill them with air. These are maintenance free springs that don't require any adjustments or attention after the initial install. These particular springs are designed specifically for certain model years of the GMC Canyon and Nissan NV or Xterra. Installing these on your 5th wheel trailer would likely...

  • Should SumoSprings Be Centered Over 2011 Nissan Xterra Axle
If you installed either of the SumoSpring kits designed for your 2011 Nissan Xterra, part # SSR-210-40 or part # SSR-210-47, and the mounting bracket installed correctly and everything is seated as it should be, then I would say the helper springs are working as intended. If you installed a different kit on your Xterra or something was broken or out of place then that could be a contributing factor. We haven't installed either of these kits on an Xterra before so I have nothing to compare...

  • Recommended Weight Distribution System For 2010 Nissan Xterra And StarCraft RT11 Pop-Up Camper
For your 2010 Nissan Xterra, a weight distribution hitch is not overkill as long as you have the correct weight capacity. Weight distribution systems allow you to carry even a minimal tongue weight more dispersed for less sag and better overall ride. You are correct to accommodate the system for loaded tongue weight as well as any cargo behind the rear axle as that functions as additional tongue weight. For your system I recommend the Fastway e2 Weight Distribution w/ 2-Point Sway Control...

  • Should I Beef Up the Suspension On a 2006 Nissan Xterra When Towing a Trailer
It's never a bad idea to enhance the suspension on a vehicle used to pull a trailer as the heavier the trailer, the more the rear end of the vehicle will sag which has an affect on braking, stability, handling and much more. I recommend the SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs part # SSR-210-47 for a 2006 Nissan Xterra since they are very easy to install and have a much better ride than like replacements due to the progressive spring design. These will do a great job of providing extra...

  • Hitch for 2009 Nissan Xterra for Carrying Motorcycle Carrier
The highest rated hitch we offer for your 2009 Nissan Xterra is the Curt # 13514 which has a tongue weight rating of 400 lbs. This would leave you with 80 lbs for the weight of your carrier since your motorcycle weighs 320 lb. Rear suspension enhancement like the SumoSprings kit part # SSR-210-47 would be a great option since that will be a lot of additional weight on your rear suspension.

  • When Should Sway Control be Used with a Weight Distribution System
First of all, thank you for your service. If is recommended to use a weight distribution (WD) system and sway control if your trailer weighs at least half of the weight of the tow vehicle. On bigger pickups you could probably get away without needing either but since you are using a 2007 Chevy Colorado I do recommend with having a device to combat rear sag in your pickup and trailer sway. Unless you will be making a really sharp turn to park your trailer you should be able to use a system...

  • How To Prevent Sag While Towing with a Lifted 2012 Nissan Xterra
I do have an option for you but the SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs part # SSR-210-47 are not the best option for a lifted vehicle because they don't come with spacers nor are they offered separately. The option to make your own spacers is certainly possible however, if you use the Timbren Suspension Enhancement System part # TJRC01 which is a very similar kit you can use a combination of both part # TA25723-90AD00 and part # TA25722-90F00 until you get the gap down to 1/2"-1-1/2"....
