SumoSprings Helper Springs for 5th Wheel Trailer

Updated 04/11/2019 | Published 04/10/2019

Question:

Have these air bags have a fill valve? because I thought I might be able to mount them on a 5th wheel axles. Looks like they could be attached to the RV frame and make up a pad for the clamp plate.

The SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs # SSR-210-47 referenced in your question are actually jounce-style springs, not air bags, so they do not feature a valve that could be used to fill them with air. These are maintenance free springs that don't require any adjustments or attention after the initial install.

These particular springs are designed specifically for certain model years of the GMC Canyon and Nissan NV or Xterra. Installing these on your 5th wheel trailer would likely require quite a bit of modification so I don't really recommend going this route.

A better option will be with the SumoSprings # TSS-106-40 which are designed with your application in mind. These work well with 3,000 to 5,000 pound axles and have a simple no-drill installation around the trailer's leaf springs.

I have attached a short video demonstration on this system that you can check out along with the written install details.
