Features to know about

Stay Level and Confident Under Heavy Loads: 2,800-lb Rear Suspension Support

When hauling or towing makes the rear of your vehicle sag, these helper springs step in to keep things level. With up to 2,800 lbs of support at 50-percent compression, they help balance the load across both axles so your front tires keep solid contact with the road. The improved weight distribution means steadier steering, better braking, and a safer, more comfortable drive when the bed or hitch is loaded down.

Smooth Out Rough Roads: Progressive Load Control Design

Bumpy roads and uneven loads can make every mile rougher than it needs to be. These microcellular urethane springs use a progressive load control design that compresses easily with light loads for a smooth ride, then firms up as the weight increases. That means less bounce when empty and dependable support when fully loaded. They also absorb shocks and vibration to keep your ride comfortable mile after mile.

Keep Sway and Roll in Check: Independent Spring Action

When turns get tight or loads sit off center, these springs work independently on each side to help counter body roll and sway. The result is a more stable feel through corners, curves, and sudden maneuvers. Even with uneven cargo, you stay in command instead of fighting against a rocking or leaning vehicle.

Built Tough for Real-World Conditions: Durable Microcellular Urethane Construction

These springs are made from microcellular urethane that resists abrasion, oils, road salt, and UV rays, performing reliably from -25°F to 200°F. They compress straight up and down with minimal side expansion so they won’t rub against nearby parts in tight spaces. With no airlines, compressors, or pressure adjustments to worry about, they’re completely maintenance free—just solid suspension support that’s ready for work whenever you are.

Install It Yourself Without Drilling: Simple Bolt-On Fit

Getting extra suspension support doesn’t have to be complicated. The kit installs without drilling, replacing your factory bump stops using straightforward hardware. It’s an easy upgrade for anyone who likes doing their own setup and wants dependable performance without extra maintenance or adjustments.

by:

Josh helped me tremendously on proper installation upon my request

by:

After researching several other companies finally you was the only ones who could get me the part I needed thanks

by:

I was surprised at how fast my order was shipped to me I will make sure too order from you people again

by:

I put them on my '15 chevy 1500.they support the extra weight of my 24' enclosed car hauler very well.they do make the rear of the truck ride a bit stiffer but I'll take stiff over squatted any day

by:

Easy to install nice design

by:

Could you please put the instructions in?
Yes
it is a simple job but the instruction would help with the details.
Like, what to do with all those washers.

Thank you

by:

I put these on my 2012 Silverado 1500. With my heavy trailers, I was having problems with bouncing and stability. These fixed all of my issues. The truck drives great, even pulling my boat and trailer which are close to 6,000 pounds. The best part is that they don't effect the ride for daily driving.

by:

I haul my side by side in my truck and sumo springs make a huge difference with that much weight! Very easy to install.

by:

Have not installed the product yet. I'm sure they will function as advertised.
I've been extremely pleased with etrailer to date. Every order I have placed is processed efficiently- and quickly. ( TNX Kelsey S. )
Follow up on the delivery and shipment is outstanding.( Kelsey S. again ). I am a real human- and buying truck parts on-line can be touch and go. These folks are the real deal.....human like.:)
Do not hesitate here... I highly recommend e-trailer.

I had limited knowledge about this type of product and wasn't aware of the options.
I purchased the yellow but think that the blue would have been a better fit for my needs.
Now I have to switch back and forth to stock bump stops
They are great with the slide in camper on the truck but way to much with it off.

by:

These literally took 30 minutes to install. I did install them with the wheels off and then installed the super springs as well. Towed a 8K lb bumper pull 900 miles after installation and they combined with the super springs transformed how my 1/2 ton towed. 2017 GMC Sierra 4x4. Fit was excellent and quality was good, USA made a definite plus.

by:

This set was too firm for me. The pickup rides too rough with them. Maybe the 1000 lb set would have been better. Anyway, I’m trying to take them off but the threaded stud just spins with the nut so I can’t get them off! Not sure what to do next.
As far as load carrying capacity, with 1500 lbs. in the bed the rear didn’t go down hardly at all.

by:

Took most of sag out of hauling my travel trailer

by:

Installed them today but, haven't put a load on them yet. Drove around with them and am excited to get my trailer hooked up. They are no joke. I will be pulling almost 9500 lbs with my gmc 1500. The truck does great the handling needed some help.

by:

Put these on my truck and made a big difference in towing our travel trailer.

by:

I have a 2020 Silverado 1500 that I tow a 30 foot long 6500 pound dry travel trailer with. The stock suspension was a little soft and bouncy which made towing a bit of a white knuckle ride. I ordered the SumoSprings in hopes of helping this and I must say I think they did the trick. The install wasn't as straight forward though as the supplied spacers were not thick enough to properly space the plate that holds the spring far enough off the frame to clear the factory welded cup. Lucky for me I work at a machine shop so I turned a couple of new spacers out of aluminum the proper thickness which in my case was .700 thick compared to the supplied 1/2 inch thick. In order to use the supplied spacers I would have to rotate the mounting plate into the opening of the welded cup which put the springs in the wrong location. After all is said and done I towed with it this weekend and it was night and day. Extremely happy with the ride now and if it weren't for those spacers I would have given 5 stars. The truck still rides close to factory unloaded which is what I wanted and the springs really only come into play when the camper is attached. Nice product otherwise!

  • Difference Between SumoSprings Solo Kits for 2017 Chevy Silverado 4WD
Hey Dean, so the big difference is the capacity of the two SumoSprings kits # SSR-209-40 and # SS45MR that fit your 2017 Chevy Silverado 1500. The part # SS45MR has a 2,800 lb weight capacity and the # SSR-209-40 is 1,000 lb. The higher the capacity the more support but the higher the chance the ride quality might suffer or be harsh. So depending on how bad you need the additional support is how you'd pick between the two.

  • Suspension Enhancement that Can Fit 2018 GMC Sierra 1500 with Lowering Shackles
Since your lowering shackles change the distance between the rear axle and the truck frame you would not be able to use the # SS45MR for suspension enhancement as it would be too tall.

  • Best Option for Addressing a Squatting Rear End on a 2016 Chevy Silverado 1500
SumoSprings would definitely be the solution I would recommend for your squatting concern. The SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs - Rear Axle item # SS45MR have a 2,800 lbs capacity which would eliminate that carolina lift look you get when your bed is loaded. These springs have progressive load control, which means that the springs compress according to the weight of your cargo. If you're not towing or hauling you won't notice a difference unless you hit a pretty big bump. The leveling...

  • Recommended Suspension Enhancement For 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LD 4WD
I recommend the RoadActive Suspension Kit # RAS54FR over the SumoSprings # SS45MR for your 2019 Silverado 1500 LD. The RAS is an active system so it is always providing the additional support to improve your ride. These will help keep you level while also eliminating axle wrap, wheel hop, and bottoming out. The kit will also improve your traction and prolong the life of your leaf springs, shocks, and tires. I'm not entirely sure how bad these roads actually are but it is possible to use...

  • Comparing SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs for a 2008 Chevy Silverado 1500
There are three different SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Spring options for a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The difference is indeed weight capacity; part # SSR-209-40 for 1,000 lbs, part # SS95MR for 1,500 lbs, and part # SS45MR for 2,800 lbs. The part # SS95MR for 1,500 lbs would be a great option for your setup and what I recommend.

  • SumoSprings or Timbrens Which is Better for a 2018 Chevy Silverado 1500?
I have a solution for you but adding the Timbren Suspension Enhancement System item # TGMRCK15MR to your 2018 Chevy Silverado 1500 is not a good idea. This system is typically only used on work body trucks or vehicles that are used exclusively for towing or hauling. The Timbren's will effect your ride quality when you are not towing your trailer and will provide a rough ridged ride. I recommend using the SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs item # SS45MR. • Should Spacer of Sumosprings Kit for 2018 GMC Sierra 1500 4x4 Be Used
It is recommended that you use the included spacer with the SumoSprings kit part # SS45MR that you have installed on your 2018 GMC Sierra 1500. This allows the kit to engage at the appropriate point in your suspension travel to give you the support needed.

  • Which Sumo Spring Product for 2018 GMC 1500 Towing Up To 10,000 lbs
Since the SumoSprings will be helping to support the trailer's tongue weight load, ideally you'll want to match the amount of support offered by the SumoSpring to the trailer's tongue weight. Since at most, the tongue weight of your dump trailer will be about 1500 lbs, worst case, I'd go with the 1500 lb capacity, part # SS95MR. When installed, the springs won't quite touch the rear truck axle, so they won't have any effect on your ride except when you're hauling items in the truck bed...

  • Can SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs Be Installed On A Truck With A Suspension Lift
The SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs # SS45MR simply replaces the factory bump stops so you wouldn't have an issue with a lifted truck. If the space between the frame and axle increased due to the lift then the springs just wouldn't engage as soon.

  • Recommended SumoSprings for Hauling 1000 lb Round Hay Bales w/ 2007 Chevy Silverado 1500 Classic
If a 1000 lb round bale is the heaviest thing you'll haul in the truck bed, I'd recommend going with the SumoSprings # SS95MR that you'd looked at, which would provide you a little bit of leeway in case the bales vary in weight a bit as the springs offer up to 1500 lbs of support per pair. If you'll occasionally haul items heavier than that, I'd go a step up in capacity with the # SS45MR which can support up to 2800 lbs. The SumoSpirngs are more pliable than other jounce spring replacements,...

  • Will Rear Suspension Enhancement For 2006 GMC Sierra Prevent Bouncing When Towing Camper Trailer?
The Timbren Rear Suspension Enhancement # TGMRCK25S will indeed help to fight the bouncing you are experiencing when towing your 3600lb camper trailer with your 2006 GMC Sierra 1500 2WD but I do not recommend going with this option. The reason for this is the # TGMRCK25S is rated for 6000lbs of weight which is way over the tongue weight of your trailer and as such you will have a very stiff loaded and unloaded ride. Instead I recommend going with the SumoSprings # SS45MR which have a 2800lb...

  • Recommended Rear Suspension Enhancement for a 2021 GMC Sierra 1500 AT4
There is a set of SumoSprings that fit your 2021 Sierra 1500 AT4 but item # SS45MR do not fit. The ones that fit are item # SS45FR. These have a slightly lower capacity at 1,500 lbs but will fit so long as your truck doesn't have the adaptive ride control option. I have a completely different system I would recommend you use. Since your 1500 AT4 has a 2" lift from the factory, SumoSprings will not be the best way of supporting your truck's rear suspension. The kit comes with a 1" spacer...

This was also confirmed by our install team that it can be installed on your 2020 Silverado 1500; it's just not designed specifically for this truck as the # SS45FR and # SS65FR are.
