2019 Ram 2500 Suspension Enhancement that will Maintain a Comfortable Ride when Unloaded

Question:

Im wanting to possibly add some Firestone Airbags to the rear of my truck, to eliminate squat when pulling our camper. My truck has a 2 1/2 spacer lift in the front, and a 1 1/2 spacer lift in the rear. I wanted to keep a little bit of rake, versus just doing a leveling kit. Is there something that will allow the Firestone Airbags to fit properly, and not effect the no loadinch ride? My reason for asking is because I went with an Airlift 5000 kit on my last truck. The bags had the internal jounce bumpers. When unloaded, and at 5psi, my truck rode HORRIBLY. It rode like there was literally ZERO suspension. If I go the bag route again, I want to be 100 sure that the factoryinch unloaded ride is not altered, or certainly not made worse... I spent nearly $2k last time, getting all the bells and whistles. Spending that much and getting what I got literally made me sick... Thanks for your time and help...

The Firestone Ride-Rite Air Helper Springs, part # F2598, can indeed work with your 2019 Ram 2500.

However, because of your desire to have an easy ride when not loaded, I do not recommend going with air springs. Even on the lowest psi, there will be some impact on your ride. You can avoid that by going with a different suspension kit.

I recommend the SumoSprings Rebel Springs, part # SS27GR. These jounce-style springs are a two-piece suspension kit that are rated for 5000 pounds like the Ride-Rite you referenced. The two pieces stay disconnected when the truck is unloaded, allowing the suspension to travel much more. This allows for a smoother ride. The compressive load control with these is designed so that the springs compress more easily for lighter loads and compress by up to 80% for heavier loads.

I've linked to a video review of the set made for a 2-wheel drive for you to consider, though the SS27GR will work for 2 and 4.
