When extra weight pushes down on your suspension, the ride can get harsh fast. These Coil SumoSprings slide right between your existing coils to add cushioning and load support. The inner core is made of microcellular polyurethane foam that compresses progressively—the more weight you add, the stiffer it becomes. That means smoother handling and a level stance whether you’re hauling gear or towing.
Heavy trailers or bed loads can make your rear end squat and hurt stability. The wedge-shaped inserts fit between the individual coils on either the front or rear suspension, helping your springs resist compression under load. This keeps your ride height steady and reduces the sag that throws off steering and braking. With the added support, your suspension works more evenly so you stay in control when the weight shifts.
Soft factory coils can let your vehicle lean too much through corners or bounce over dips. 2005 Honda Cr-V, they went on pretty easy, it was a tight fit but no trimming required. I jacked the car up on some stands, had both sides installed and zip tied in 45 minutes..
OEM springs not strong enough.
After installed feels a lot stiffer and raised the back 2". Material looks really good. Installation done in 40 min using a nut driver, a flat head screw driver and hand soap. I did have to take wheel off it just makes like easier.
Pretty easy install on a Winnebago Solis, built on the Ram Promaster 3500 chassis, took about an hour to install on all 4 wheels. I only parked on a level surface and used the factory jack, didn’t even lift the van off the ground all the way but enough for clearance to install, no tire removal done. I gained about an inch of clearance which is nice for my onboard generator and hoping for a better ride on windy days. The pictures are before and after of (in order) front, rear, size difference of Sumo vs. oem and the generator.

Ok installed outside january 27th. Temp 10 degree windchill -5. I used canola oil since it stays slippery when cold. I recommend taking off the tires. Also wirebrush the coil spring to get rust and debris off. Coat coil spring in canola oil. Also 1997 crv rear will require about 3/4"-1" off of the helper spring before hand. The driver side took 15-20 mins the passenger less than 5. My car rear was sagging it sits level or slightly above level now in the rear. Mileage of vehicle is 73k shocks struts and springs are original. Curt class 3 hitch is also installed on vehicle. I am curious to see how it does while pulling a 5x8 trailer. Overall seems good only time will tell. Wondering how installing two on a side would do?
Improved handling/safety significantly while towing. This is the first vehicle I used these on. I will not have another tow vehicle without Sumo Springs.

I didn’t notice a change in ride. It decreased the squat between loaded and unloaded by 1/4 inch. It also raised the back by 1/4 inch. 2019 Expedition Max.
very impossible to install. will need to pull the coil spring to mount and reinstall the coil. very misleading install video.
Only took about 20 minutes .it was a perfect fit for my 2017 expedition. My 20ft toy hauler rides perfect with this set up .
Helps when under heavy load and reduces “bottoming” out effects on rough terrain. Using this for towing a travel trailer approximately 8000 lbs. with a 2008 Ford Expedition.

Installed over a year ago on a 2020 Ford Expedition. I pull a 30’ travel trailer and the sumo springs made a big difference. Well worth the money, easy installation.
I installed these on the rear of my 2017 Ford Expedition EL, hoping it would help with the ride quality and handling while towing my 6,500lb travel trailer. The box did not come with instructions, but I downloaded them from etrailer's site. Installation was fairly easy, although I did have to take the wheels off. After my first trip with the trailer (400) miles, I didn't really notice any improvement with the handling, but hopefully they are helping take some of the stress off the rear springs. These are fairly expensive for something that has no noticeable benefit, so I don't think I could recommend them.
I installed these on our 2020 Ford Expedition this past spring. Went on super easy using a little dish soap, much easier than I had heard from other reviews/videos. Works great to prevent squat while towing our travel trailer with a 900 lb tongue weight (scale weighed). I do notice a slight increase in stiffness/jitter from the rear when not towing and vehicle is lightly loaded, but nothing that makes me want to remove them.
Put these on my 2017 Ford Expedition EL equipped with the factory installed towing package. I tow a 2014 Winnebago 30 RE. I had used these on my previous Expedition. The tongue weight of the trailer is such that I got about 1 1/2" of "squat" when hitched (and with the weight distribution hitch correctly set). The Sumo Springs reduced the sag by about 1".
A bonus if you will is that these have no effect on ride when the trailer is not hitched to the vehicle.
These work well and are a great alternative to air shocks. They can be a bit tricky to install but with some patience and elbow grease you can get em on.
Got em in! Not the easiest install, but they seem to stiffen up the ride. I’ll update after the next trailer trip...
Just finished installing these on my 2014 Ford Expedition EL Limited. Very easy to install. Never removed the wheel to install. Jacked the vehicle up one side at a time and did the install. Haven't hooked to my 30ft camper yet to see how they work. Will update after my trip in July.
Initial reaction is positive - I installed front and rear sumo helper springs yesterday (5-23-19) and did a test drive around the block. The side to side pitching of our Transit Class B+ motorhome was greatly reduced. I still need to test on highway. I did not install the optional spacers that increase the ride height and reaction time of the rear sumo springs. The spacers will be added later if needed.

Hey John. I'm sorry to hear that our video was misleading and lead you down the wrong direction. The easiest way to get these installed is to jack up one side at a time so that the tire just barely hangs without touching the ground. That way the coils can stretch out and give you more room to install the helper springs. Also using soapy water on both the springs and the helpers will help them slip into place. If you still run into issues, let me know!
