Insert these helper springs in between the individual coil loops in your rear coil springs to defeat driver fatigue and add better support for heavy loads. Most factory coil suspensions have a difficult time hauling added weight. The rear coils may struggle with supporting the extra load placed on your rear axle when you're towing a trailer or using a hitch-mounted cargo carrier or bike rack. If your coil springs are totally squished under a load, the lack of shock absorption can be harsh on your backside, especially if you spend long hours sitting in your vehicle while driving to your campsite.

Coil SumoSpring installed between rungs of coil spring

Inside each helper spring, a core of microcellular polyurethane foam adds cushioning between your coils to make your ride more comfortable. Each doughnut-shaped spring has H-shaped channels at the top and bottom that fit to the rung of an individual coil in your rear coil springs. The cushioning absorbs shock, but also works progressively to better support weight, keeping your truck level.

Unlike air springs that fit inside your coil springs, these polyurethane springs require no air pressure monitoring, and they are easier to install. Say goodbye to air lines, valves and air tanks and hello to maintenance-free suspension support. Unbumpify your ride with Coil SumoSprings for coil suspensions.

These sumo springs have helped out my 2021 Ford Expedition Max in our frequent towing of our 29’ Imagine travel trailer. Before installation, the ride while towing was a little “squishy” due to the independent rear suspension on the vehicle, but now that these are on the rear coils, the ride while towing is much more planted and firm. I was worried that this would affect the ride quality when not towing, but the same soft comfortable ride is still there as prior to the installation.

After a year of use and thousands of miles towing with these helper springs, they are still working great.

2019 Ford Expedition

2nd towing season. Pretty easy install. Has made a huge difference with our 2019 Ford Expedition Limited. We tow a 32' 7000# dry travel trailer w 810# tongue weight. Very little if no squat now. Fast delivery. Very happy campers.

by:

They work well. Reduce rear squat with the trailer on, and help with rear bounce. Would recommend if pulling trailer that has some tongue weight associated with it.

by:

So far so good. I have not really used it while pulling our RV. Do not let the installation instructions fool you. It is a much bigger job than they make of it. One big piece of advice is to take the tire and wheel off. It really helps!!

by:
2005 Toyota Highlander

Pretty easy to install. During my first drive with them installed I heard a lot of thumping even over small bumps, but it seemed to work itself out on the second drive. I think it helps level out the slight sag in the rear of the car, and the front wheel drive which used to slip frequently when towing gets better traction. Be aware that for a 2005 Highlander, there are no holes or zip ties, and you can't get the Helpers to stay much higher than the lowest coil. I think them sliding down is what eliminated the thumping.

by:
2004 Toyota Highlander

I could not place the SumoSprings in the middle of the coil springs to start installation. Rather I had to start lower on the coil springs, where the spacing is wider, and then slide the SumoSprings up to the middle.
I used a screwdriver run into the holes for that purpose to help slide the SumoSprings to the middle of the coil springs. Otherwise, the installation went well. There seems to be less squat in the rear of my '04 Highlander when my camping trailer is attached.

There still seems to be less squat with my camping trailer attached. It is leveled out a bit.

by:

Installed the CSS-1168R Coil SumoSprings Custom Helper spacers on a 2011 Honda Ridgeline 4 wheel drive rear springs. Installation took about 45 minutes including removal of tires. Once spacer was started the installation was easy.
Zip ties were a little more difficult because of the dust strut covers installed by Honda.

Excellent product. Holding up great. When towing my camper, the squat is less the 1. Much better then before when 3 was the norm.

by:

Reasonable price. Its help the rear sag on our 2022 Toyota Sienna van. Etrailer installer list are out of date. Austin help connected us thur one of their installer though.

by:
2020 Ford Expedition

Disappointed with SumoSprings because they worked themselves out of the coil springs after about 6 months of use. I removed and discarded them.

by:

About all I can say for these is that they did raise the back of my Expedition EL about a 1/2". However, they didn't stay in place for even a year. As far as helping the ride of the truck with the travel trailer, I *think* it helped, but I really don't know if it is anything more than the placebo effect. I removed them before having Bilstein 5100 series shocks installed, with the spring collar set to raise .4", which did make a noticeable, positive difference in the way the truck handled when towing.

by:
2007 Honda Odyssey

I received the Sumo Springs Coil Helper yesterday and was able to install it in less than an hour on my 2007 Odyssey. May be even quicker if I had a better jack(i had to lift one side at a time). My van now has raised significantly. With a three Mountain bike rack, camping gear loaded with the roof box, the van's rear end was too sagged. I gained close to two inches after installation. I do notice a difference in the cushioning, but that is very marginal. Overall, I am very happy about this product and would recommend if your car's rear end needs a lift/ support. Installation was very simple with the hand soap applied. I will do a follow-up review after few weeks when I put a few hundred miles for my summer trips.

The product has been wonderful. It has kept the sag out of my vehicle when towing my trailer and you dont notice any difference when you are not. I have searched for a long product for this vehicle and gave this a shot. It was very easy to install and works great

by:

I put these on my 2016 Expedition EL Ecoboost after buying a travel trailer. The truck had plenty of power but as anyone could exped the IRS Sucks under heavy load and our first trip from east bay to Anehime made everyone sick from all the sway. I'm here to tell you this is the best $80 I have every spent upgrading any of my vehicles. I have since sold that trailer and now tow a heavier 28' TT and it pulls amazing. surprisingly it only affects the spring rate at fuller compression which is great for towing. Normal driving with no trailer feels exactly the same.

by:
2020 Ford Expedition

Great product works well fits perfect

by:

Quick and easy way to firm up the rear end...while trailering.

by:
2014 Ford Expedition

I installed on a 2014 Ford Expedition EL. I should have done this last year, it made it handle like it was new again both loaded down and when it was just me driving. It also retained the stock ride feeling with no harsh or roughness to speak of. For the folks that have a strut style rear suspension and put any kind if weight in their suv's and/or pull a tralier, this is a must. Also, no mentionable increase in ride height.

by:

I drive a 2022 Ford Expedition Max. Installation was a breeze; it took longer to take off my wheels than to install these. Be sure to soak them in soapy water and they'll slide right on. The plan is to tow a 30' trailer. I have not towed yet but will update after some experience.

Bishop

6/22/2023

Weve towed a 30 travel trailer about 5k miles since the purchase. The tongue weight is 650-700 lbs. They allow a bit more squat compared with the Sumo Springs I put on my F150, but theyre definitely better than nothing, especially when paired with a weight distribution hitch. Unlike the ones I put on my F150, though, these dont seem to affect vehicle ride quality when the car is unloaded. Overall, Im happy with them and would buy them again.

by:

Installed on the rear of a 2018 Expedition, I pull a travel trailer thought these might help out. Very easy to install. Raised the vehicle about a 1/4” in the rear.

by:

Got it on time and as described. Thank you

by:

Did exactly what I needed it to do.
Luckly
I am supper strong to put this on.
Recommendation: Read the instructions, I did and took 1hr maybe. Also, use a dull wide screwdriver and slowly work around the coil.

by:
2006 Ford Expedition

I tow a 32ft travel trailer with my 2006 Ford Expedition. I am not over my max tow limit but I am close to it. while towing even with my weight distribution hitch I felt the vehicle had too much front lift and too much rear squat for my liking. After looking around and not finding a lot of towing accessories for my vehicle I found the Sumo Coil Springs and decided to give them a try. Install was pretty easy and I did remove my wheels to give me more room to work. after installing the Sumo Springs I found that stock ride height had increased by about 1/2" to 3/4" in the rear and the ride quality had not been realy changed. After hooking up my travel trailer I now have an acceptable rear squat of about 1 1/2" and the front lift is only 1/2" and the trailer tows great.

Hello Patrick, I still thing the springs are great. They seem to still function today the same as they did a year ago. The only thing I had to do to the was install better and more zip ties on the springs than what came with them in the box, to better hold them in their proper position. Thanks for the follow up.

Installed on a Ford Expedition to counteract boat trailer sagging the tow vehicle. They have worked great......very happy with the product.

by:
2019 Ford Expedition

Did a great job helping with squat and not impacting unloaded ride quality. I have these installed in my 2019 Ford Expedition FX4 with a leveling kit so any sort of load really highlighted rear squat. I am pulling a 36' long 7000lb loaded travel trailer and I would consider these a must have. Install was pretty straight forward, take the weight off the rear tires, soap them up a little bit and they slide in with a little effort.

by:
2019 Ford Expedition

Install was pretty easy. I installed on A 2019 expedition. Decided to get this product when I had to replace my rear struts. I installed before installing stuts on the vehicle. Install would have been a little more difficult if struts were on the vehicle IMO. The ride in the rear is definitely stiffer more like a truck but that was expected since the sumos stiffen the ride unloaded. Excited to see how it handles pulling my new travel trailer.

Honda

Installation was a little challenging, but once I figured out the trick to get the spring installed the installation became easier. The springs off set 4 passengers and two bicycles that we also added with a hitch to our Honda Fit.

The Sumo Springs were a little challenging to install on my Honda fit but was able to get them installed. The Sumo Springs were installed in conjunction with the Draw-tite hitch and Swagman bike rack to level out rear of car with to ebikes installed. The sumo springs handles the roll and pitch during lane changes and turns.

The Coil SumoSprings # CSS-1168R are the lightest capacity springs for your 2024 Ford Bronco. These are great when you occasionally feel a light steering feel when carrying normal loads. While they do not have a specific weight capacity like the others due to their design the will help to reduce the amount your rear spring compresses on the portion of the spring it sits inside. • Helper Springs or Weight Distribution for a 1999 Ford Expedition that Sags with Boat Trailer Coupled

When squat is caused by a heavy load carried in the vehicle that is when you would use suspension enhancement like helper springs of some kind. But when squat is caused by the tongue weight of a trailer the best solution is to use weight distribution....
