Features to know about

Stay Level When the Load Gets Heavy: 500–1,000 lbs of Rear Suspension Support

Hauling a trailer or loading up your cargo area can make the rear of your vehicle squat and throw off steering and braking. Firestone Coil-Rite Air Helper Springs fit inside your existing rear coil springs to add load-leveling support from at least 500 lbs up to 1,000 lbs. They help keep your ride height even, level your headlight beams, and maintain balanced handling when carrying or towing heavy loads.

Smooth Out the Ride and Improve Control: Adjustable 5–35 psi Air Springs

Every load and road condition is different, so these air springs adjust to match. With 5 psi to 35 psi of manual air pressure adjustment using separate inflation valves, you can fine-tune each side for off-center loads and better stability. The added air cushion helps absorb road shock, prevent bottoming out, and improve steering response for a smoother, more controlled ride under load.

Built to Last Through Work and Weather: Durable Polyurethane Construction

Coil-Rite air springs are made from durable, elastic polyurethane that holds up under heavy loading and rough conditions. The design works inside your existing coil springs without altering factory suspension geometry. The kit includes all necessary brackets, hardware, air lines, and valves for installation. Replacement springs are also available separately to keep the system performing for years.

DIY-Friendly Setup: Straightforward Installation with Manual Inflation Valves

Getting extra suspension support doesn’t require a shop visit. The Coil-Rite kit installs inside your rear coils with parts designed to fit your spring seats. Air line tubing routes easily to the bumper for quick access to the manual inflation valves, so you can fill or deflate the bags with basic tools whenever you need to adjust your setup.

Daz Ryte... Awesome!!! Really helps out the suspension while hauling my trailer...

by:

Good product for little air bags.i like it and easy to install

by:

I have used this product for the first time two weeks ago.. it is easy to adjust the air pressure and the VW Atlas seems to handle our 20’ trailer well.

by:

Product installed without any issues. Do suggest taking a paper towel or rag and spraying a small amount of WD40 on it and wiping around spring coils only not on air bag. Bags slide in a little easier. Would have been 5 Star except for unacceptable shipping time, 5 days to on instate location 200 miles away.

by:

I installed the F4175 kit on my 2013 VW Beetle TDI. Installation was very easy. I usually carry a wheel chair which lowers the rear 1 inch. My base unlaiden measurement was 9 inches. I put in 5 lbs of air and rear end went up 1 inch I then put in my wheel chair and the rear end went back down 1 inch, which put me right back to my base unlaiden measurement, so the vehicle did not sag at all and remained level. I need to do a full ride quality test, but it seems a little firmer in the rear.

by:

Installed on 2020 VW Atlas Cross sport. Jacking up vehicle to let rear wheels hang separates the spring coils. It is not easy to get the bags inside to coils it takes strength. Also make sure the tubing is connected to the bag and threaded thru the hole in the lower control arm before setting the bottom of the bag in place. A little armor all on the spring helps too and also to remove squeak when driving while deflated.

by:

This product works very well! Leveled my SUV just like I was hoping when towing my Travel trailer. Install instructions are pretty simple and it is a challenging task to push the bags inside the coils, one thing I figured out after a few hours struggling is to push all of the air out then twist the bag before trying to push it into the coils.

by:

I'll preface with I am an average do it yourselfer. I tried I stalling them on my VW Atlas for almost 3 hours before I just quit. I had to have them professionally installed. The installers said it took two of their people trying to fit the air rites in each spring. After installation they have been fine. My vehicle drops a little when I hook up boat but not a problematic amount. They hold air for quite a while and have not made any noise while traveling. They work as should. Just be prepared to pay for an install in event you cannot get them in.

by:

Installation was a bit difficult, but fit is good. Squeeze all the air out and then twist the air bag to fold it in order to fit into the coil springs. There is just enough hose included for a VW Atlas installation. The kit is a bit skimpy on the abrasion cover though, so I may go back and install some wire loom cover over some sections, and a couple of stick on zip tie mounts from the local hardware chain provided a couple mounting point inside the bumper on the driver side. On the passenger side of the Atlas, there is a wire harness that you can zip tie the airline to. Some 90degree elbow connectors help with routing the line as well, so that there is not a big loop hanging down out of the lower suspension.

If you have a VW Atlas with factory tow package and hate drilling holes in your vehicles as much as I do, I recommend getting a Pollak 12-711U 7-way connector bracket to modify for mounting the Schrader valves. I assembled the valves from the Firestone kit to the Pollak bracket, and then installed the bracket between the 7-way connector and the factory mount. It provides a tidy solution that looks like a professional installation.

No issues after a year in a 2019 VW Atlas. I tow a camper with approx 325lb tounge weight, about 20-25psi in the Helpers keeps the car level without bounce and hardening the ride. I deflate the helpers when not towing and haven't noticed any difference between not having installed. A little tricky installing, rolling up and pushing in between the spring coils to insert. I did mine on the ground with jack stands to extend/drop the travel of the wheel all the way down but a lift would be easier for leverage. I left the first helper in the sun for a while to soften and used a coating of oil on the Helper and spring to slide in. The second one went quicker as I learned from the first on how to roll and angle it in. I also submerged the helper in a bucket of hot water from the faucet (120F) for a few minutes and it was more pliable; still using a coating of oil. No air leaks after a year. Would use again.

by:

Instructions were straightforward, install went smooth, and the product works great!

by:

I received these yesterday and installed them. It took about 30 minutes to figure out how to get the first one in but the second one went in less than 10 minutes. These air bags did their job perfectly and gave me the support needed to level out my ride with the load I am hauling.

by:

These work great for the VW Atlas!! They reduce the rear end sag when pulling a travel trailer or putting the roof tent on and loading all the gear for some overland trail riding and camping!! They are a must for any adventurous Atlas Owner!

by:

Easy install in less than 2 hours. I disconnected the shock absorber on one side to get a little more room, but I was still able to slip the bags in on the side I didn't disconnect. On my atlas cross sport, there was a plastic plug at the bottom of the coil in the lower control arm that needed to be removed.

by:

Purchased this product about a year ago and used it on a 2023 Atlas Rline V6. Product was supper easy to instal if you take the time to read the instructions! Purpose of purchasing this product was to take some of the pressure off the coil springs when towing (trailer is a 22 foot travel trailer, with a tongue weight of +/- 440lbs). The bags reduced the sag on the vehicle and helped with some sway motions during windier conditions. Only issue I had with this product and would be to my own fault was a kinked airline that I had installed incorrectly, the kit comes with enough airlines for a mistake or two… I would recommend this product for someone looking to reduce the pressure of their coils when towing!

Gotta watch out for the kinks! I'm glad you caught it and were able to fix it, it sounds, pretty quickly :) Thanks for sharing the word of caution and experience :) When's the next trip with the new suspension and trailer?

by:

They provide support for my Volkswagen Atlas 2022 when towing our travel trailer. Installation wasn't' too challenging other then pushing the bags into the springs. Once I flattened them out and rolled them into a hotdog bun shape with zip ties, went in easy. I also added 90 Degree elbows to avoid kinking the hose if too tight.

by:

These work great. I really doubted this could be a good solution but had a few friends told me to go for it. Really glad I did. Our VW Atlas would sag in the rear when towing because the suspension is way too soft. I’ve tried to find a proper suspension that would firm it up but an Atlas is not a popular tow vehicle apparently. So I got these airbags and gave them a shot. It was suggested to run them separately, but I ran them with a t-connector because if one fails, I want the rear to be level. Towed maybe 4-5 times so far and have had no problem. When you first install them, make sure to check for air leaks at all the fittings. I had one fitting I didn’t insert properly so had a small leak. After I fixed that, these have been amazing! They work great! Keeps the rear level when we tow.

Glad you gave them a shot, William! You also make a great point about checking for leaks before calling it a day. What have you been towing lately?

by:

Great product. I must say that they were a little tough to install. A very tight fit. Fortunately for me I had the availability of a vacuum pump. With that I was able to evacuate all the air out of the bags which made them flatter, with that, it made it easier to slide them between the coil springs. I tow a small camper trailer, I usually run around 20 psi in the bags. This keeps my vehicle level and adds for a smooth ride. A great product.

After a year, the air bags have been superior in their performance. I have had no issues with them. Still running 20 psi in them when Im towing my trailer, deflating them to 10 psi when not. I see only slight rubbing signs on the bags from the coil springs, but hasnt effected the performance of the bags. Great product. Im very happy with the performance of the bags. Still a great product.

  • Where Should Coil-Rite Air Valve be Installed on a 2019 VW Atlas?
Hey David! The supports that come with the Firestone Coil-Rite Air Helper Springs # F4175 aren't going to be used for your 2019 Volkswagen Atlas. This kit fits a handful of vehicles, so the instructions say to put the air valve at either the top or bottom depending on what will be best to keep the air valve from getting damaged. Does this help you out at all?
