Can a Weight Distribution Hitch Be Used On a 2018 VW Atlas

We have a 2018 VW Atlas with towing capacity of 5,000 We bought a 2021 Forrest River surveyor legeng model 19bhle. The dealer was attempting to install a Blue Ox hitch TILL we saw where our owners manual on the Atlas said do not install a weight distributing hitch on the car. So ....... would you have a recommendation on the best hitch for our car? We have never pulled a travel trailer before we are senior citizens and want it as easy and a safe as possible. sincerely appreciate your help

If the owner's manual states a weight distribution system cannot be used then we cannot recommend using one. That said, we do still have options that can take ones place such as the Firestone Coil-Rite Air Helper Springs part # F4175 which like a weight distribution system will transfer the weight from the rear of the car to the front. If the trailer has brakes you can use the Tuson Asymmetric Sway Control part # 335TSC-1000 for sway control but this is about your only option for sway and weight distribution if you require additional assistance.
