Question:

Have a 2022 VW Atlas V6 and a 2022 Jayco Jay Flight SLX 7 SDX 184BS. GVWR is 4500lbs. The dealer sold us an Equalizer weight distribution hitch with sway control. Just read that VW says to never install weight distributing or load equalizing ball mounts. Also using Curt Echo Mobile Trailer brake. What are our options to be able to safely tow within VW guidelines and achieve the same result as a weight distribution hitch with sway control to stay safe on the road without voiding our vehicle warranty?

While there isn't a way to completely mimic how a weight distribution hitch works, you can use a friction sway control system for a safer way to tow with your 2022 VW Atlas, and you'll also need a bracket that goes over your ball mount:

- Reese Sway-Control Bracket for 2" Ball Mounts # RP26003

Then to help with any suspension sag, what you can do is add air springs to the coils, the Firestone Coil-Rite Air Helper Springs # F4175.
