Question:
Im looking at these for a 2020 VW Atlas. I noticed in many of the pictures that people post, these dont seem to fill the vertical space top to bottom inside of the spring. How exactly do they work if they arent filling the whole space of the spring?

That's a good question, but coil springs like the Firestone Coil-Rite Air Helper Springs # F4175 do not have to fill up the entire vertical space of the spring during installation. What you are seeing in regards to photos is likely the spring during the installation process with the vehicle up on a lift (like in the accompanying photo).
At this time there is no weight on the suspension, the the springs are extended all the way, but when the vehicle's weight, particularly with a load, gets added to the suspension, the coils will compress so the springs will be effective.
I have added a link to a video installation as well as a video review for you to check out as well of the Firestone Coil-Rite Air Helper Springs # F4175.
