Install your Curt electric trailer brake controller quickly and easily with this custom wiring adapter. Simply plug one end of the adapter into your brake controller and then plug the other end into the built-in port beneath your vehicle's dash.
Features:
To install your Curt electric brake controller, you need to connect the wiring of the controller to your vehicle. Certain auto manufacturers offer pre-wired options, typically known as tow packages, wherein wiring is run for you from the dash to the trailer connector on the back of your vehicle. When this is done, a port is installed at your dash so that you can easily plug in a brake controller.
This adapter plugs into the port on your vehicle's built-in brake control wiring harness. For most applications, this harness is located beneath the dash, near the center console.
No hardwiring is required to install this adapter. After you plug it into the factory port, you simply plug the other end of the adapter directly into your electric trailer brake controller. Because there are no wires to connect, installation is not permanent. You can unplug and remove your brake controller at any time to transfer it to another vehicle or securely stow it away.

Hello everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we take a look at the Curt custom dual plug-in wiring adapter for the Curt trailer brake controllers. Now this is a custom fit part. It is designed to fit the 2018 and newer Volkswagen Atlas, 2020 and newer Volkswagen Atlas Cross-Sport and the 2021 Volkswagen ID4, all of those vehicles with the factory tow package. Now this harness here will let you install your Curt electric brake controller quickly and easily using this custom plugin wiring adapter.
There's no cutting or splicing required. You just take your custom connector end here, right on this end, that'll plug into the built-in factory port that's located at the driver's side door trim panel. And then on the other end, this would plug into the back of your electric brake controller. Now because there are no wires to connect, the installation is not permanent. You can unplug and remove your brake controller at any time to transfer it to another vehicle or to securely stow it away.
And this is compatible with time-delayed and proportional brake controllers from Curt. Now the brake controller must have the built-in plug for this adapter to connect. It will not work on controllers that just have the pigtail wiring harnesses. You can see this harness is about a two-foot long, 12 gauge size wires with a nice protective sleeve to prevent damage to the wiring. It does come with a couple of cable ties to tie up any loose wiring when you install this, and it does give you a nice set of detailed instructions that will describe how this installed.

2023 VW Atlas SEL w/factory tow package. Perfect fit with the VW factory installed wiring harness Emily at etrailer was very helpful, I sent herca photo of my VW harness plug and she confirmed this harness plug was a match. I had read that another company’s harness did not fit on a 2022 Atlas. According to VW this harness is the same in 2021-2023 Atlases

This wire harness made installation of my CURT Echo under dash brake controller to my 2019 VW Atlas a breeze. There was no cutting or splicing required. The hardest part was accessing the factory tow system wire harness, but removing the driver side kick panel was not too difficult. Total installation time was about 30 minutes.
etrailer part recommendation was spot on (unlike [online vendor] fitment information) and the part was cheaper (despite additional shipping fee) and arrived faster than it would have using [online vendor].
