Speaker 1: Today, on our 2011 Hyundai Sonata, we'll be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Yakima roof-rack system. This is going to consist of part numbers: Y00426. Those are going to be our Yakima Jet Stream Crossbars; part number: Y00146, those are going to be our baseline towers; and part numbers: Y06144 and Y06153, those are going to be our base clip fit kits for our Hyundai Sonata. The Yakima Roof-Rack System is going to be the perfect solution for carrying your vehicle accessories on your roof, whether those are bike racks, cargo baskets, skis and snowboard carriers or kayak carriers. The crossbars, themselves, are going to be an aerodynamic tear-drop shape. It's going to help to reduce wind, noise and drag. On the inside, it's going to have a weatherstrip to prevent any dirt, debris or liquid from getting inside our crossbar.
It's also going to have that weatherstrip that can be pushed down so you can insert channel-mounted accessories. The baseline towers do have the option to remove this plastic core here and insert the Yakima Same-Key System Lock Core, which will help to prevent theft and tampering. If we remove our end cap, you'll see that we have a bolt to secure down and give us a nice secure fit for our fit kit. The fit kit is going to give us a custom-fit to our vehicle. It's going to have rubber portions protecting any place that is going to touch your vehicle to prevent any scratches or abrasions. The whole roof-rack system has a 165-pound weight capacity, though you do want to check your vehicle's owner's manual to make sure it can withstand that much weight. We'll show you how to install that now. We're going to have our covers for our towers.
We'll get four baseline towers. Our fit kit here in the center with four pads for the bottom and four clamps. We're going to have four adapters to attach our towers to our crossbar. Our included torque tool to tighten everything down. We've provided our own flat tape measure.
We'll get two crossbars and four end caps.To start the installation, we've gone ahead and removed the weatherstrip underneath our crossbar. This can be cut down or replaced back in your crossbar strip at the bottom. That's going to help to reduce wind, noise and drag and any dirt, debris or liquid from getting underneath your crossbar. We're not going to do that just for demonstration purposes today, but you can cut this down. We're going to start off with our tower and our adapters that are included with our crossbar. We're going to start at the top here, placing in the black plastic piece just inside the tower on the top.
We'll set the adapter right in the center there, on top of that bolt. We're going to come underneath our tower here, we're going to tighten down this bolt on the inside. That's going to tighten up our adapter so that we can slide it onto our crossbar. We want it so that this piece is completely flush here on the bottom so we can slide it easily into our crossbar. We'll flip our tower over one more time. We'll take the pad for the bottom, making sure that the arrow is facing towards the outside of our tower. We're just going to snap it into place. Now, we're ready to line this up and put it onto our crossbar. We're going to take our tower, line up the bottom and slide it into the channel. There are numbers along the bottom of our crossbar, we're going to put it at 36, as per the Yakima instructions, sliding our tower down until it's just at the 36 mark. The last thing we do before we load this up onto our vehicle is take our crossbar end cap and slide it into place. To attach our crossbar to our vehicle, we're going to start by gently setting our crossbar in place on the roof of our vehicle and adjusting it so that it's sitting in the same spot on each side.Next, we'll measure out our crossbar spread. This is going to give us the appropriate placement for our back bar. We're going to measure from the center of the front bar to the center of the back bar. That's going to be 32 inches. We'll do the same thing on the other side.To load up our clamps, we're going to open up the gray door here on the front of our tower. We're going to feed our clamp underneath this metal portion here. We'll secure it to the nut on our foot pack. Now, we'll repeat that same process for the other side. Now, we'll take our included tool and we're going to start to tighten down our bolt here. That's going to tighten up our clamp. Want to make sure we do this evenly on both sides. We're going to tighten it up until we hear a couple clicks from our tool, that's when we know we have enough torque behind our bolt. We've got both sides completely tightened down. We've gone ahead and closed up the doors on our vehicle. We're ready to place on our covers. They just snap into place. Now, we're ready to hit the road. That's going to be our completed look at the Yakima Roof-Rack System on our 2011 Hyundai Sonata.

Heavy-duty crossbars mount to Yakima towers (sold separately) to create an aftermarket roof rack. Top and bottom channels let you add channel-mount accessories. Tie-down points in endcaps let you easily secure cargo.Works perfect for our SUP with the tie down loops. Great for building materials as well. Looks great as well.
Excellent solution for my 2023 Chevy Silverado. In the past, I have had rails installed on the roof of my pickup trucks, but I find the BaseLine towers to be a better solution, since they don't permanently change the truck. Plus, they are much more solid than SkyLine system on the rails.
etrailer was a great place to order, quick and easy. Yakima products however are over priced and overly complicated.
Really easy to install & work as specified. So happy with the customer support/service at etrailer.
Follow the instructions, and you can't go wrong on the self installation
Love my Yakima roof rack!! It exceeds my expectations.great product. Also thank etrailer for the tec support! great staff always there to help thanks again!!
The customer service in ordering theses par tea was amazing!! I spoke with a wonderful specialist named Kate F, and she was super helpful and patient answering all my questions and helping me make sure I had the correct parts I needed for my type of car. The bars are very sturdy and have proven very worth the money!!
Ackage came 2 days early the install was somewhat easy (did it by myself)
Did not get to mount anything to it but seems really sturdy. One thing I can say is mark out your mounting points with provided stickers then put up and make adjustments to the roof rack.
These adapters were easy to install and made my system fit together nicely.
Your service is nothing short of excellent! Thank you
I had a difficult time identifying whether these were the correct adapters for the rack towers that I was purchasing to fit my tracks but that has more to do with yakima doing everything a-la-cart instead of having kits that include everything you need if I hadn't already had the HD bars on my other rack and wanted to be able to transfer them to this rack I probably wouldn't have went to this expense because I think they are overpriced.AS far as etrailer is concerned I always receive great service and products and they are always well packaged and never damaged by poor delivery care and always fast delivery speed.
I ordered the Yakima roof rack for a 2019 Hyundai Ioniq. I went with the heavy duty one for extra strength but it is quite a bit thicker, likely increasing wind noise. So I might have chosen the aerodynamic lighter weight one if I was to do it again. Also, I needed to get larger bolts for my kayak holder to get around the crossbar. The instructions and video on website were very helpful but they did not explain well how to adjust the toe and pitch. For the toe adjustment, you have to push the metal post with the tool before tightening. That was not obvious. For the pitch, it helped to do that once the towers are attached to crossbar. Then you can tilt tower while cross bar is laying flat (upside down). I ended up having to add tilt on both front and back crossbars for them to be flat when installed. Website said only front one would need to be pitched. I am very pleased with the look and sturdiness of the product. My Hyundai Dealer had zero options for this car.
Great product and even better was the service with etrailer! These guys make it happen and delivery was super fast. Thanks for a fantastic experience, will be a return customer.
Yakima HD bars 60”
2018 Ford Expedition
Easily supports the RoofNest! The Customer Service with Roger was Excellent!
Well packaged and on time
So far so good. Purchased these towers to use on a 2022 GMC Canyon with HD bars that I already had, primarily to carry my canoe. Yakima's fitting instructions worked perfectly and the whole system seems really solid.
The Yakima products are doing great. Just got home yesterday from a 18 day trip using them in Michigan's upper peninsula. Love them. Great products. Thanks again.
Your notice of schemes was a lot better than the yakima site provided. They did not suggest the scheme you did.
But when the products arrived, the instructions were by yakima. Generally worked as instructed except the tower to tower transverse mounting dimensions needed to be tweaked for a perfect fit.
Great company. Fast delivery.
They fit perfectlly and solidly on my 2021 Toyota Highlander. The instructions are clear and entirely accurate.
The fit is good on the 22 Wilderness but there is definitely wind noise and I will add a diverter soon.
Great product fast shipping
Great! Easy to install!
This part adapted like no other adapter
Solid build quality and easy installation on my '21 Mazda CX-5.
