Review of the Yakima HD Crossbars

Hey guys, today we're going to take a look at Yakima's HD crossbars. Now, these are designed to fit on your Yakima Overhaul HD, Outpost HD, and Bedrock HD towers, or you can even use them for any of your StreamLine towers to make a roof rack out of them, you will just need to pick up a separate adapter kit from etrailer.com, so they can fit on those towers. Now, the bars are also available in four different sizes. We have them in 55 inches, 60 inches, 68 inches, and 78 inches. Depending on the size of your truck bed, or the size of your roof, and the length crossbar overhang you want will determine what length you should get. Just see etrailer.com for all of those lengths. Now, you see right here we have our crossbars installed on our Overhaul HD system. We got a couple ladders up there strapped down.

Yakima, basically, came out with this HD bar just to give you that next level up when it came to hauling work gear, or even camping and off road gear, just to make sure it could handle any of that capacity. Now, each bar's going to have a tie down point right here on the end cap, so you're going to be able to tie down on all four sides. And it's going to have a T-track on bottom right here with a measuring tape, so you can measure out your crossbar overhang, or even if you're trying to put them on your roof you can measure out to make sure you have an even spread. It's also going to have the same thing up top with a rubber strip covering it to help cut down on wind noise and drag. If you want to insert any inaudible 00:01:26 accessories up here you just peel the strip off, then cut it to length for whatever accessory you want to put in there, and then reinsert the strip around your accessory. Now, let's go ahead and unload our ladder, so we can take a closer look at our HD bars. Now, the bars are going to be very easy to install whether you have them on your truck bed rack, or on your StreamLine towers.

They're going to have a very nice durable, yet lightweight aluminum construction, so they are going to be rustproof, and they have a very nice black powder coat finish which is going to add to the looks of your vehicle, and it's also going to match whatever truck bed rack you choose, if you are to get one. Now, one thing we've seen in the past from people is that while they might have these HD bars on their Yakima Overhaul system they'll get that raised up, and then they'll get another set for the cab, so they can put them on the StreamLine towers, and they could have a full truck crack to get those very long loads over the top of the cab all the way to the front, and it's not going to make contact with the roof. Also, our plastic end caps are going to help keep out any water, dirt, or debris from the inside of our crossbars. The tie down points on our end caps are going to have a 700 pound pull strength reading. Now, as far as a max weight capacity Yakima really designed them, so they could surpass any of the HD racks that you might attach them to, or any of the StreamLine towers that you might attach them to.
