Conner: Hey guys. Conner here at etrailer.com. Today we're going to be taking a look at the ABS Weld-On Solvent. Now, the Valterra ABS Weld-On Solvent is going to be used so we can fuse together all of our sewer lines on our coach or motor home. Essentially, this differs from normal cement in that this is actually going to form a fusion weld with the ABS plastic. It's specifically designed for this exact purpose. Similar to what we might find for PVC pipes where it's actually cement, this is going to cause a chemical reaction with the plastic and form a nice tight and secure seal.
But please keep in mind, since we are dealing with chemicals here, we always want to make sure we have the proper protection such as safety gloves and our safety glasses.I'm going to show you how to use this, but if we could just take a quick look right here. You can see it's inaudible 00:00:47 of a slimy gooey substance. We're essentially going to show you how to use this. Let's start out with, we're just going to be coating the outer diameter of the pipes as well as the inner diameter of the fitting. That's going to take about three minutes for this to set up and then it will be safe to handle the fittings.
However, it is going to take a full 30 minutes to cure. We always want to make sure before we use this the lid is on nice and tight. We want to give it a good shake to make sure all the materials are mixed around. The Valterra ABS Weld-On Solvent has a shelf life of about three years. It comes in this nice convenient quarter size pint, and today we're going to be showing you how to use this when we install the waste valves on our motor home here.So what we're going to do here is open our can up.
Once we have it open, we're going to take our solvent here and we're essentially just going to try to get it around the outer diameter of the pipe, making sure not to make too much of a mess. Once we have a good coat of the solvent around the outside diameter of the pipe, we can go ahead and press on our first coupler here. And then we want to push that all the way back to make sure we get as much as a seal as possible with the pipe, and then we're going to let that dry for a few minutes and we can move on to the other side. Make sure when we're putting on our ABS sealant that we coat not only the outside diameter of the pipe, but also the inner diameter of the fitting as well. Now we're just going to continue on piecing everything back together. Now that we have everything in place, we're going to want to go ahead and give it some time to let everything seal and cure over time.
I would say around 20 or 30 minutes or so. And then we can go into the RV and pour some water down our sinks and our toilet so we can test everything out to make sure there's no leaks. Upon visual inspection here, we don't see any leaks. However, what you want to do is take a piece of cardboard, set it under the valves and make sure. Let it sit for about five to 10 minutes and make sure you don't see any leaks. That'll let us know that all the fittings in the pipes are secure. However, we do want to remove our bayonet cap here and make sure the valves are sealed as well. As you can see, we don't have any water here, so we know those have done their job. That's going to do it here today for the Valterra ABS Weld-On Solvent.
The installers of my hydraulic leveling system damaged my sewer system and I could not hire anyone to repair the leak damage quickly. I had to repair it myself without any experience, but I found your website and watched some useful videos you had online. I ordered a bunch of parts not knowing exactly what I needed and slowly began to remove, measure, cut and replace the sewer system with what I ordered. I found that I could reuse some existing parts and I returned some unused parts and got an appreciated refund...thanks to some help from your staff. I added a picture of my repair/modification that shows how I added an S curve to avoid the leveling system strut. The parts, video instruction, and service you provide were a big help. I will admit that it wasn't easy, especially reinstalling both those sewer valves in my particular sewer setup. I should have made a video of how I did it to help others...lol, there would be too many bleeps for foul language.
Fast service as always. Have some returns bought more then needed for in case of scenerio after ripping the plumbing and valves off the dump system under our rv. Truck in front of us hit a tall traffic cone and we ran it over tearing the plumbing out, but tanks were safe thankfully (But Empty now. lol) Thanks for fast service.
Easy to work with. Good communication. Fast shipping.

Got product as promised on time but the best thing was the video of e trailer showing how to replace your Rv sewer system! Very valuable info for diy person. Thanks e trailer!!
I always receive excellent service & never do I receive the wrong part or defective part from etrailer. The Weld-on abs coats well & dries quickly. Thank you again, etrailer & to those who help with all my orders.
I had a little mishap this past winter and didn't do a very good job of winterizing my RV and ended up with busted grey water drain pipes. After checking at the local big-box hardware store (parts not available) and a well-known camping retailer ($$$$$) I logged onto etrailer and, "voila" ...there's what I need to do the repairs. After a short conversation with George J. to confirm they were the correct parts I placed my order and even with "economy shipping" my parts were here and installed in about a week without breaking the bank.
etrailer always seems to have the right product at the right price and very fast shipping!
The glue worked great ??. Maybe to great , not much time to slip them together once the two parts come together.

Better to stick too much then not enough. But I can see potential panic arising from making sure to slip the parts together in time before it sets for good.
Does the job, but store it inside - didn’t survive a TN winter in the shop and jelled up (didn’t follow the directions)
Great service
This is the cement (glue) you need to use if your sewer pipe on your RV is black and says 'ABS' on the pipe, to glue on new fittings. Works as it should, and on 3" fittings, it only gives you a couple of seconds to push on the fitting with a twist onto the plastic pipe. It will set fast on these hot days of summer so get ready and know just how your fittings need to be BEFORE you put the cement on them! And all will be well; just follow directions on cement container and know that it is going to set fast on a hot day.
I had a broken lug on the black sewer line. Purchased a new adapter and abs cement to replace it. Cut through the old adapter in 3 places and broke it loose using a hammer and screw driver. Removal was straight forward and not as difficult as expected. The new part fit perfectly and the abs glue welded right on. No dripping black water!
Seems to be holding up well. It comes with its own applicator.
Everything as described, packed well in box. Will be used to connect kitchen grey water drain point to bathroom drain point. Needed as campground will only make one connection to drain trailer.
Everything shipped out quickly and was on time
Exactly what I needed
Works great. Despite the other part indicating you do not need this, we used it anyway to secure the gaskets on the black water valve. So far so good.
I needed to raise the sewer outlet on our camper, everything worked as planned and looks great.it also gave us about 5 in.more clearance from the ground. thanks.
Product worked as advertised . another good product offered by etrailer. The only place to purchase items for your truck ,camper ,trailer or about anything else you need
Prompt delivery. Great customer support. Thanks for the videos...very helpful.
how do you hook you hook up your sewer hose to this part??? There is a piece of pipe adhered to the drain that blocks you from installing the sewer hose.
Do you have a question about this RV Sewer Hose Fitting?
