Question:
Hi. I was wondering if this unit will survive an upstate n.y. winter. Our keystones hideout is at green harbor campground and Marina on lake Ontario. We are snowbirds and are only here during the summer. Thank you for your time and consideration.

Yes, the Valterra EZ Valve Electric Waste Valve for RV Black Water Tank # E1003VP can absolutely survive the cold winter and still work great. The motor on the unit is water resistant and the valve will seal off and maintain its integrity with the proper cement, the Valterra ABS Solvent Cement # A05-0303.

Kyle and Herbert, I contacted Valterra with a question about performance of the EZ-Valve in cold weather. The EZ-Valve operating temperature is 35° to 120° F. Belinda at Valterra told me the motor would work fine at temperatures below 35°, but the paddle could freeze to the body and not move. She suggested insulating the valve when temperatures go below 35°. If your question was about just storing it and not using it, then it would probably be OK, I would think. Mike
