Hello Pete,
Welcome to etrailer, I'm glad you found us!
You've got it. You'll cut the existing 3-inch ABS pipe, then slide the spigot end of the Valterra Waste Valve # T50A into the pipe and bond it in place with the Valterra ABS Solvent Cement - 1/4 Pint # A05-0303. The cement is designed specifically for ABS plumbing and creates a strong, permanent bond between the valve and the pipe.
One tip I like to mention is to do a dry fit before applying the cement to make sure the valve is clocked in the correct position. Once the ABS cement is applied, it starts bonding pretty quickly, so it's a good idea to have everything lined up and ready to go.

I used standard ABS pipe glue. By adding the waste gate it protrudes beyond the edge of the trailer in my case. So I cut and refitted the Gray 1 & 2 pipes along with the Black tank pipe so the new waste gate is one inch inside the outer wall of my trailer. Photos on request. I can’t add them here. Rik
