Can RV Safe Carbon Monoxide Detector Replace Atwood Unit
Updated 01/27/2026 | Published 08/21/2024 >
Question:
I need to replace my Attwood 31011 Gas and Carbon monoxide detector. I know it is not mad anymore, but figured any product could replace it. It had 2 red and 1 black wire. Suggestions for replacement? Can I just use one of the red wires if new unit has just 1 or each???

Hey Chuck, yes you could use the RV Propane Gas and Carbon Monoxide Detector # RS54FR in place of the Atwood you have now and it would work great. You'd just run your red power wire from the main power source of your RV to the single red wire of this monitor.

Hey Chuck, how did the wiring go with the new RV propane gas and carbon monoxide detector? It’d be great to hear if everything powered up correctly with the single red wire connection. Your update could make it easier for others replacing the same Atwood unit.
