Hi, everybody, Andy here with etrailer. Let's take a quick look at this RV Designer gas strut. Now this lift support is designed to replace a worn out or weak gas strut on heavier lids that no longer stay open on their own. This is going to give you 75 pounds of lifting force, making this easier and safer to open and hold up storage compartment lids, access panels, or other heavy covers. Now, one of the biggest benefits is the added safety, so instead of worrying about the lid suddenly dropping while you're reaching into a storage compartment, this strut is going to help keep it securely open until you're ready to close it. Now, this strut measures from center of socket to center of socket, right at 26 inches on that extended length.
So, this is going to be a direct replacement for systems that are designed to use that size. It's a compact design, relatively speaking, so it's going to fit into those tighter spaces or those concealed mounting locations where space is going to be limited. The black finish is gonna give it a clean, low-profile appearance. It's going to look good, whether the strut is visible or hidden after installation. But keep in mind that the mounting brackets are sold separately, so if you're replacing an existing strut and your current brackets are still in good condition, you're going to be able to typically reuse them.
However, if your installation requires new hardware, you will have to purchase that compatible mounting hardware separately. We replaced the gas struts on the rv king size bed that came with our 5th wheel with these because after we upgraded the mattress the original ones couldn't support the weight.
