Video Transcript for Review of Ultra-Fab Products RV and Camper Hitch - RV Bumper Mount Hitch - UF35-946402

Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at this Ultra-Fab two inch Motor Home Trailer Hitch Receiver for four inch by four inch steel bumpers, has a 3,500 pound gross towing weight capacity. Now, this powder coated steel hitch receiver is designed to clamp around your RV's four inch square bumper, and it provides this two inch receiver opening for your hitch mounted accessories such as bike racks, cargo carriers, or you can even use it for light towing. Now, this hitch receiver can only be mounted onto a four inch square continuous steel welded bumper, it's not designed for aluminum bumpers. This is a heavy-duty steel construction, does have a maximum gross trailer weight capacity of 3,500 pounds. Now, one note on that is you do not wanna exceed the weight rating of the bumper it attaches to, and it has a maximum tongue weight of 100 pounds.

If you noticed, if I show you the bottom of it, you can see it does have the safety loops on each side for connecting your safety chains to. We mentioned the black powder coat finish on it, provides rust and corrosion resistance, and this is a nice bolt-on installation, it includes all the mounting hardware, you can see I've pretty much installed it onto the part just to show you where it all goes, and it comes with a nice set of instructions that'll describe how it all goes together. Now, also I wanted to show you, if you look closely, right here and right at the very bottom, there's two large bolts here, these thread into the hitch receiver, and the reason those are on there is once you put your accessory in there, you tighten those down on the bottom and on the side, and it'll help reduce movement between the hitch mount and the receiver tube. Again, the application, you can see the U-bolts here, they are designed to fit four inch by four inch continuous steel welded RV bumpers. Receiver opening right up here is two inches by two inches, and one note is this is designed for use with RV approved accessories only.

Let me show you all the sides. But that should do it for the review on the Ultra-Fab two inch Motor Home Trailer Hitch Receiver for four inch by four inch steel bumpers.

Installed this hitch on my fifth wheel to pull my side by side to the upper peninsula in Michigan, however I would recommend that you be sure your bumper is capable of the weight being towed. I personally removed my existing bumper and welded on a much heavier steel bumper. This hitch did exactly what was expected of it, thanks so much to Kirstin for her help at checkout

This product has preformed as it should, no issues and I can be confident that it will withstand its purpose, thanks again

by:

hooked up hitch both u bolts broke dropping both bicycles on freeway in Montana. Just a fact and no total rack and bikes were well un der the maximum load rateing,

by:

Product fit perfect. Easy to install. Very happy with the hitch, Only one problem, the anti-wobble bolt on the side would not fit because U-bolt is in the way. You can only get the bottom anti-wobble bolt in. (See 2 pictures) I solved that problem by cutting off the end of the U-bolt that was in the way. They just need to move that hole back a bit more. Now I have both bolts on and cargo carrier is solid.

by:

This fit very well, only problem is the side anti wobble bolt won’t fit when the U bolts are installed. Note submitted picture.

Just ground off a 12 inch or so, installed bolt before the U bolt. Works fine now.

by:

This bracket provided me the means to mount the receiver style spare tire b racket on my Class C RV. By mounting it upside down, it placed the weight squarely on the frame, leaving the u-bolts to merely hold it in place.

by:

Works great used on trailer bumber for portable refrigerator to carry on cargo unit. Had to beef up bumper with angle iron due to weight ...no bounce at all with hitch

by:

The product arrived ahead of schedule. etrailer upgraded my shipping at no extra cost! It fit on my bumper with very little problem. It was tight because of my chrome covering, but I expected that. I did have to replace two of the nuts that would screw on, and I had wanted to place it above the bumper but the body of the trailer wouldn't let me. I haven't gotten a bike carrier yet, but I wholly expect it to work just fine. I would have given it an excellent but for the bolts I had to replace.

by:

Works as advertised. Simple to attach. I use it on the back of my camper an put a generator, extra fuel and loaded cooler. Thanks for great product.

by:

Cold the cargo rack on the rear of our travel trailer.I bought it so that I can lock my generator to it when we’re traveling.

by:

This bolt on hitch worked as advertised. Important to get the bolts sufficiently tight. I used this product to hold a cargo carrier on 2020 Colorado camping trip.

by:

I needed a way to carry our mountain bikes when we go traveling with a our RV. The Ultra-Fab Hitch receiver fit perfectly on the 4x4 rear bumper allowing me to carry our bike rack. I feel I could even tow my golf cart trailer behind my RV with this hitch if needed. Very easy to install with a simple socket set and torque wrench.

by:

Very easy to install (my four year old helped me). We used it for our bike rack on the back of the trailer so it was installed on top of the bumper instead of underneath. This thing holds it very solid.

by:

Product looks and feels very solid and well made. Only took me 5 mins to install. Can't wait to see how it performs as we head out in the next few days. I will be carrying my generators and gas and kids bikes on it. Thank you again etrailer.com for an easy purchase with all of the info i could ask for on your website to help make the best selection for my needs.

by:

the item looked and worked as advertised

by:

The bolts on the top are not long enough. I had to buy longer bolts. The bolt on the side that secures the hitch to reduce the movement is too long. The u-bolt is in the way. I had to buy a shorter bolt. The bolt hole needs to be repositioned so the u-bolt will not interfere.

by:

Well constructed, very easy to install, negates fabricating or adapting a hitch by taking advantage of existing 4" bumper.

by:

E trailer is a consistent place I shop for fast delivery, great communication and products as described.

by:

Will not slide properly over my 2” hitch, machined wrong, the holes for the hitched pin indent in on the hitch, will not work. This is my second try, I wish they would inspect there products before sending them out as I am stuck with no way to move.. will be asking for a full refund.very disappointed!!

This is for mounting on motorhome bumpers not to mount on hitch receiver bars.

by:

Just right to tow my little aluminum boat behind the camper !

by:

Bought (2) of them to make to make a removable rack for a small inflatable boat to carry on the back of the trailer bumper. Appears plenty strong have to see how it lasts. Did notice that the chain loops interfere with the 5/8" bent hitch pin hair pin connection. I'll have to make one out of a bolt (they should have though of that).

10/24/2019

Rather than a bolt, I recommend using a straight hitch pin, such as the etrailer Trailer Hitch Lock # e98882. This hitch pin has a locking end cap to keep your hitch accessory secure. The lock core is accessed on the end of the cap, making it easier to access in a hitch with limited space like this one.

by:

So far it was very easy to put on the Trailer, I used it for a cargo carrier to place a 3000 Honda Generator on the carrier, work great, the next thing I'm going to try is to pull my 2 Waverunners, but I will check the weight first..

7/3/2014

It has worked great, but now I have changed my Trailer and do not need it anymore

by:

The Ultra fab 2" RV Hitch Receiver for 4"x4" Bumpers is a very well made piece of steel. It fits our Wildwood Trailer Bumper perfectly. It is built so sturdy we have no worries about using it to haul our bicycles. It is rated at 3.5k!

Thanks for the review Ron, but please also keep in mind that an RV approved bike rack should be used, and please make sure the bumper is appropriately for your use.

by:

I mounted 2 on my camper bumper. One for a bike rack and the other for a swing away grill. Super happy w the product and the results.

Dave P.

3/24/2021

A year later, I couldn’t imagine not having the bikes and the grill on the back of the RV. Great product

by:

Very sturdy attachment. Fit perfectly on the trailer bumper and hardware was 1/2" Grade 8 Cad plated--good stuff. Order was received at my driveway exactly on schedule. I would continue to do business with etrailer.

Robert G.

12/1/2018

The attachment is working great. I need to store it outside and see no physical deterioration.

by:

The top bolts were half inch to short. I had to go buy longer ones that cost $x.xx then only one of my hitch shanks will go far enough in to line up the holes for the pin.

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch Receiver for 5th-Wheel Trailer
We have a nice selection of trailer hitches that are designed to be installed on RVs and fifth wheel trailers. If you are just wanting a hitch receiver to use with hitch-mounted accessories such as a bike rack or cargo carrier, I recommend looking at the Ultra-Fab 2 Inch Motor Home Trailer Hitch Receiver # UF35-946402. This will clamp around 4 inch x 4 inch square bumpers to provide a 2 inch receiver opening with a tongue weight capacity of 350 pounds. For 4-1/2 inch x 4 inch bumpers,...

  • Hitch and Bike Rack Rrecommendation for Coleman Lantern 17FQ
As long as the 4-inch bumper you have on your Coleman Lantern 17FQ is fully boxed on all sides and is connected directly to the frame of the camper you should be fine, but you'd want to check with Coleman to see if they have a hitch capacity for the vehicle. If so, then the Ultra Fab bumper hitch part # UF35-946402 would be a great option for a bike rack. You'll need a bike rack confirmed for the rougher ride quality at the rear of a camper though. For that we have the Swagman E-Spec...

  • Spare-Tire-Mount Bike Rack for Use on Rear of 2014 Aliner Scout Travel Trailer
Thank you for providing a photo of your Aliner's spare tire mount on its rear bumper. Any bike rack designed for use on the rear of a camper or trailer has to be specially built to withstand the forces encountered at the rear of such vehicles. Much in the same way that the last seat in a school bus or the last car in a roller coaster gets a rougher ride than those up front, any accessory item installed at the rear of a trailer will be subjected to strong lateral and vertical forces that...

The Ultra-Fab Motor Home Trailer Hitch Receiver, # UF35-946401, was designed with the RV/trailer application in mind. As such the additional torque from accessories bouncing in the receiver was taken into account when the weight capacity of 200 pounds was given to the hitch. You might want to consider going with something rated a little higher, like # E-100, or # UF35-946402, which both have a 350 pound capacity, because with your intended load you will be getting close to the tongue...

The receiver tube has a tongue weight capacity of 350 lbs, which means that the combined weight of the bikes plus that of the bike rack you use shouldn't exceed 350 lbs. Before installing the hitch, I'd highly recommend you consult the owner's manual or Jayco to determine if the bumper has the proper capacity. There is a hitch that will work for you, but the Bumper Hitch Receiver # S64025 that you referenced is for use with bike racks and would not be a fit for your new Roadmaster Spare Tire Mount RM-195225. Instead, I recommend the Ultra-Fab # UF35-946402 which is a 2" trailer hitch receiver that clamps onto 4" x 4" square bumpers and has a maximum tongue weight of 350 lbs, which should be well within the range of the Spare Tire Mount and spare tire. We do not currently have available a platform style bike rack that is rated for being used on a travel trailer. The RV hitches like the Ultra-Fab 2 Inch Motor Home Trailer Hitch, part # UF35-946402, are designed to be used on the back of an RV to haul bike racks and cargo carriers. This hitch is one of the only ones that says for light-duty towing also.
