Expanded Carrying Capacity for Your RV

etrailer cargo carrier

No matter how big your RV is you'll likely have gear you'd prefer not to store inside. This carrier lets you transport generators and fuel cans, so your storage compartments don't smell like gas. You can also strap coolers, luggage, and other bulky objects on it to free up space inside your RV. Lastly, it's great for carrying wet, dirty, or smelly items outside of the RV, keeping your interior clean and odor free. It has raised side rails that help prevent your gear from sliding off and provide multiple anchor points for a cargo net, bungee straps, or other tie-downs (sold separately).

Bumper Mount

etrailer cargo carrier

Most RVs don't have hitches installed, so if you want to use a cargo carrier, you'd have to install a hitch receiver. However, this cargo carrier mounts on your RV's bumper, so you don't need a hitch to carry your gear. It's also designed to provide better load distribution across your bumper than a hitch-mounted carrier.

Folding Design

etrailer cargo carrier

When the carrier is not being used, you can fold it up against the back of your RV. This is convenient if you need a little extra space at the campsite, if you're travelling but not carrying any gear at the time, or if you're parking close to a fence, a shed, or a garage. To fold the basket up, just remove the snapper pin from each arm assembly, fold the rack up toward your vehicle, then reinsert the pins through the holes in the top of the mounting brackets.

Easy Installation

etrailer cargo carrier

The carrier is easy to install. Just slide the mounting brackets over your RV's bumper, spacing them 17-5/8" apart (inside edge to inside edge), and secure them with the included M10 hex bolts. Attach the main arm assemblies to the mounting brackets with the included M16 hex bolts. Attach the basket to the main arm assemblies with the included M8 carriage bolts. The included support brackets mount to most RV frames to reinforce your bumper and prevent metal fatigue that can cause your bumper to detach.

Expandable Width

Extension

If you outgrow the carrier later on, you can add an extension to increase its width. A 24" extension will make the carrier 84" wide. To install the extension, place the mounting brackets an additional 24" apart on the bumper, unbolt the junction between the left and right side of the basket, and bolt the extension between them.

  • Solution for Carrying a Small Generator on the Back of an RV
I have a solution for you, but the # e99052 is not designed to be used as a standalone carrier; it would need to be used with the 24x60 etrailer Cargo Carrier for RV Bumper - Steel - Folding - 500 lbs # e99049 in order to carry any real weight. This carrier has a capacity of 500-lbs, so it would do well for carrying a generator. With that said, you may want to instead look at the Mount-n-Lock GennyGo Generator and Cargo Carrier for RV Bumpers - Steel - 200 lbs # MNT54FR, which has over...

You would not want to trim the flange of your trailer frame beams. You can place the supports on the inside or the outside of the frame beams as the difference between the two sides really isn't going to...

  • Is There a Spare Tire Mount for the 24x84 etrailer Cargo Carrier for RV Bumper
The 24x84 etrailer Cargo Carrier for RV Bumper part # e96ZR can hold a spare tire but there isn't any sort of specific mount for this. The photo attached below is a custom job from a neighbor and I'm not totally sure what they used to create this. If you want to try and recreate this you're welcome to but we don't have any advice for this. The only thing I can recommend is to set the tire inside the basket and strap it down or go with a smaller size so you can retain a bumper mount. The...

The carrier in your picture looks like it's welded to the rear bumper so the closest option we would have would be the 24x84 etrailer Cargo Carrier for RV Bumper # e96ZR that you were looking at. This carrier comes with brackets that can fit 4" x 4" and 4-1/2" wide x 4" high RV bumpers. It also comes in a 24x60 # e99049 size in case the 84" length is too long.

  • Will Cargo Carrier for RV Bumper be Able to Fold up With Ladder on RV
With a ladder on the back of your RV it is unlikely you will still be able to fold up the 24 x 84 etrailer Cargo Carrier for RV Bumpers # e96ZR. Reason why is when the carrier folds up it takes up all the space of the bumper, so unless your bumper protrudes out past where the ladder is you won't be able to. If you want that folding feature, and your ladder is off to the side, a carrier with less width will be able to fold up as you can mount it on the side of the ladder. Granted they may...

  • Why Is There A Spare Tire Carrier For The etrailer 24x64 Cargo Carrier But Not The 24x60
Neither the 24x64 etrailer Cargo Carrier for RV Bumper # e83YR nor the 24x60 etrailer Cargo Carrier for RV Bumper # e99049 come with a spare tire bracket. If you were trying have both the carrier and a bumper mounted spare tire carrier, like # TR-2, then you'd want to go with the smaller 24x60 # e99049 carrier to have enough room on the bumper for the spare tire carrier.

  • Can 84" Wide etrailer Cargo Carrier be Converted to 60" Wide & Can 60" Wide be Converted to 84" Wide
The answer is actually yes to both; you can convert the 84" wide carrier to a 60" wide carrier, and conversely the 60" carrier can be converted to an 84" wide carrier with the extension. To go from 60" to 84" here's what you'd need: - 24x60 etrailer Cargo Carrier for RV Bumper # e99049 - 24" Extension for etrailer Bumper Mounted RV Cargo Carrier # e99052 The extension comes with the longer carrier, so you would just need to remove it to convert the 24x84 etrailer Cargo Carrier for RV...

Hi Robert, We unfortunately do not make custom products but we still may have something that might work. With only a 1-1/4" hitch you're limited to 200lbs of tongue weight capacity and the hitch mounted cargo carrier selection we currently have is pretty limited. • Are The Support Brackets Needed For A Trailer That Has Its Bumper Welded To The Frame?
Since your bumper is welded to the frame, it should be very strong and likely won't need to use the support brackets # MO34VR for the 24x60 etrailer Cargo Carrier for RV Bumper # e99049. However, you'll want to verify that the load you're planning on carrying isn't going to overload your bumper. • What is Difference Between etrailer RV Bumper Carriers # e99049 and # e83YR
Hey Ethan, this is a great question. Basically the part # e99049 is a two-piece carrier that has two brackets that attach to the bumper whereas the part # e83YR is a smaller carrier that has an extension piece in the middle of it that extends it out just a little further than the other carrier. This is why it's dimension is pretty similar to the other carrier and why it has three brackets instead of two. I personally like the idea of having three attachment points over the two and plus...

  • Trailer Hitch Receiver for 2021 Lance 2285 Travel Trailer Capable of Holding 500 Pounds
On a travel trailer like your 2021 Lance 2285 the go to hitch is typically the Adjustable Width Trailer Hitch Receiver # 13703. This hitch fits frames from 22-72" wide. However, this Class III hitch tops out at 350 lbs of tongue weight. In order to reach the 500 lb capacity you will need a universal Class V hitch like the # C59CR. This fits frames up to 62" wide so you will need to measure. I have attached some review and installation videos below for your reference.
