Note: This dual-arm rack reduces the need for a bike frame adapter bar (sold separately) to mount a children's, women's, or alternative frame bicycle. However, to mount certain bikes or to keep your bike level on the rack, a bike adapter bar may be required. Most step-through bikes, dual-suspension bikes, and small children's bikes will require a bike adapter bar.

Yakima RoadTrip 4-Bike Rack

The Yakima RoadTrip is a heavy-duty rack that allows you to carry up to 4 bicycles on the back of your vehicle - including RVs, motor homes, and travel trailers. It features SuperCush anti-sway cradles with ratcheting ZipStrip straps for easy bike loading. And it installs quickly and easily in your 2" hitch with a threaded anti-rattle hitch pin.

Desgined for RVs, Motor Homes, and Trailers

RoadTrip Mast and Shank

The RoadTrip is built to withstand the added vibration and stress that comes from being installed on the back of a RV, motor home, or travel trailer. The rack has no moving parts, and the mast attaches to the shank with welded brackets. These brackets attach to the shank with a pair of 12-mm, 10.9-grade alloy steel hex bolts. These overbuilt components ensure that the rack can take any punishment that the road may inflict.

SuperCush Anti-Sway Cradles with Ratcheting ZipStrip Straps

RoadTrip SuperCush Anti-Sway Cradles

The RoadTrip has premium SuperCush cradles to carry and protect your bikes during transport. The anti-sway cradles limit bike movement to help prevent bike-to-bike contact. Premium TPE padding protects your bikes' frames from damage by absorbing road shock and vibration.

RoadTrip ZipStrip Straps

The cradles also include ratcheting ZipStrip straps that make loading and unloading your bikes a breeze. Simply insert the strap into the buckles on the cradle and push it down until it's snug around your bike frame. The ZipStrips can be removed quickly by pressing the release levers on the sides of each anti-sway cradle.

Quick and Easy Installation

RoadTrip Threaded Hitch Pin

The rack installs with a threaded, anti-rattle hitch pin. Just slide the shank into your hitch, tighten down the threaded hitch pin, and secure the pin with the included clip. This not only secures the rack to your vehicle, but also reduces noise and movement of the rack in your hitch.

Integrated Bottle Openers

RoadTrip Integrated Bottle Openers

An integrated bottle opener on the end of each arm allows you to enjoy a cold one after a long ride.

Video Transcript for Yakima RoadTrip 4 Bike Rack Review

Today we'll be taking a look at the Yakima Road Trip 4 Bike Rack. Part number Y02477. The Yakima Road Trip is a heavy duty hitch mounted bike rack that let's you carry up to four bikes on your vehicle, motorhome, RV, or travel trailer. The dual arms provide excellent support for your bike, and the anti-sway cradle, as well as zip strips hold your bike at three points. We've gone ahead and removed our bikes to go over a few more features. Here on our cradles you can see the padding, that's going to help to reduce road shock and vibration. The bike rack is going to include two straps.

The smaller strap will be for a single bike tire, the one that's closest to our vehicle. The longer strap will be for when we have more than one bike on our bike rack. We want to wrap this around all of our bikes, and that will prevent any swaying back and forth, and bike to bike contact. At the base of our mast we have an integrated loop that allows you to secure a cable lock to your rack. You can find a Yakima cable lock available on etrailer.com, with part number Y07233. Our Yakima Road Trip comes with a threaded hitch pin.

When tightened completely down, it's going to keep a lot of shake and play out of the bike rack as you head down the road. For added security we do have a hitch lock available, with part number Y07235. Each arm comes with an integrated bottle opener, so that you can enjoy a cold beverage after a long ride. The Yakima Road Trip Hitch Bike Rack is made out of a sturdy steel construction, with chip resistant black powder coat finish. This bike rack has a carrying capacity of four bikes, with a weight capacity of 37 and a half pounds per bike. The rack comes with a limited lifetime warranty. To start our install we're going to take out bike rack and insert it into our hitch.

We'll slide it in until our pinholes are lined up. Next we'll take our anti-rattle bolt, insert it into our hitch pinhole, and start to tighten it down. Once we have that tightened down we can install our clip on the other side. Now to get our bike rack ready to load up our bikes we're going to start by removing our zip strips at the top and at that anti-sway cradle. Now we can grab our heaviest, largest bike, and put that on first. Now with our bike rack in place we'll go through replacing our zip strips.

You'll notice our bike was sitting a little lopsided earlier. We've gone ahead and added the Yakima tube top bike adapter bar to make it sit evenly. This is how you want all of your bikes to sit. You can find that adapter bar on etrailer.com, with part number Y02531. Now we can load up our other bikes. Now that we have all of our bikes installed on our bike rack we're going to take our stabilization strap here, and we're going to wrap it around all of our bikes. So we're just going to wrap these around our bike. So we have our strap wrapped around our bikes. We're going to run it through our buckle, and then we'll tie up our excess. Now with all four of our bikes loaded up, and our stabilization strap tightened down, we're ready to hit the road. Here on our test course we'll start by going through the slalom. This is going to show us the side to side action, which simulates turning corners or evasive maneuvers. Once we get to the alternating speed bumps we'll see the twisting action. This will simulate hitting a curb, or pothole, or driving over uneven pavement. Once we get to the full speed bumps we'll see the up and down action. This will be just like driving in and out of a parking lot, garage, or driveway. That's going to be our completed look at the Yakima Road Trip 4 Bike Rack, part number Y02477.

Bike rack is well constructed and strong. Just what I need to attach to my tow-behind camper- don't want to lose bikes and rack on my way to somewhere. It is NOT light but this is a tradeoff...strong & secure or light & risky. 398951

Installed on my 5th wheel camper. Assembly took about 10 minutes. I purchased the Yakima adapter bars for my bikes b/c none have the straight bar that makes for easy mounting of the bikes. I liked that the 4 bikes went on rather easily with some minor adjustments of the seats and extra baskets on the kids bikes. I recommend this bike rack and the purchase of the adapter bars for easy placement of the bikes. I recommend this for the rear of the camper. Very sturdy rack! Received my product on time. I originally ordered the newer Yakima rack but it was unavailable for several weeks. Sierra called me the next day to tell me the delay of the product I originally ordered and offered some other options. Glad she did this or I would have been upset when I didn't get the bike rack in time to go on a camping trip that we had planned. Thanks for reaching out to me and letting me know rather than me finding out later that I wouldn't get my order in time! 362426

Just received this from etrailer, assembly was easy and everything looks sturdy. One thing I would mention: The instructions indicate that your bike needs to rest parallel to the ground. Aside from road bikes, most other bikes do not have top tubes that are parallel to the ground. Apparently there is an attachment available to help with this issue. I am sure it costs extra. If you have mountain bikes or beach cruisers this may not be the rack for you. 465181

Youll likely get along fine without an adapter bar unless your bikes are carried at such an angle that ground clearance could be compromised or one of the bike tires is closer than 12 inches to the vehicles exhaust. If you do need an adapter bar, we offer a reasonably priced one as part # 64005

Being new to the RV world I found the team at etrailer to be very helpful; my new Yakima 4 bike carrier arrived quickly, was easy to assemble and attach. etrailer makes helpful suggestions on products that work well with your purchase that you might not know you would need; for me it was a lock at the hitch and for the bikes. 514985

Ask the Experts about this Yakima Hitch Bike Racks

  • Recommended 4 Bike Rack for a Class C Motorhome
When looking for a bike rack to use with a motorhome it is extremely important to make sure that the bike rack is approved for use on an RV. You are correct when talking about the extra movement at the rear of an RV. The Thule Hitching Post Pro # TH934XTR that you referenced is not rated for use on an RV, but I do have some other options for you. Yakima has their RoadTrip 4 Bike Rack # Y02477 which is very similar to the Hitching Post Pro. It is rated for use on an RV, can carry up to...

  • Recommended Bike Racks for Use on Class C Winnebago View RV
RV-rated bike racks are made to withstand the extra stresses found at the rear of longer vehicles like a Class C Winnie View. Such RV bike carriers do not include a folding design since this would introduce a weak point, but some like the Swagman Trailhead # S63381 and the Yakima Road Trip # Y02477 do have arms that fold. On the linked page, which displays all RV-rated bike racks we offer, you can view 2-bike carriers like the Let's Go Aero BikeWing # B01311. This lightweight (12-lb)...

  • Platform Bike Rack Recommendation for the Back of a 5th Wheel Trailer
Yakima does have some bike racks rated for use at the back of an RV or trailer but the Dr. Tray, # Y02473, is not one of them. What I recommend is the Swagman Escapee # S64693. It is similar to the Dr. Tray in that it holds 2 bikes at the wheels but at a lower price. I have linked a video review of this bike rack for you (I'm in this video; the chubby guy!). The 2 Yakima RV/trailer approved racks both hold 4 bikes and are hanging style racks, # Y02476 and # Y02477. But they do not...

Both the Yakima LongHaul, part # Y02476 and the RoadTrip, part # Y02477, are RV rated bike racks that are extremely similar, but have a few differences that can change which is best for you. I've included our video review of both racks to help you get a feel for each of them. The LongHaul's major differences from the RoadTrip is the integrated lock system and overall heftier construction. The LongHaul includes an integrated hitch lock to secure the rack to the vehicle when not in use,...

  • Hitch Mount Bike Rack for 4-Bikes on the Back of a Travel Trailer Using Curt Bumper Hitch E-100
There are only certain bike racks that are rated for use on the back of an RV or trailer but the Thule Hitching Post Pro # TH934XTR is not one of them so I cannot recommend it. But there are several 4-bike racks that are rated for this application. You can use the Swagman Trailhead # S63381. This rack is most like the Thule. It features a 2-arm design and anti-sway cradles. It is a sturdy build to handle the riggers of being at the back of a trailer. Other racks that are rated for this...

First you will need a receiver on the front of the trailer if you want to use a hitch bike rack. We actually have the Bike Bunk # CC-275 but it is limited to 100 pounds total weight. Otherwise what I recommend is to use # D210 which has a receiver and ball mount platform allowing you to tow the trailer and carrier a bike rack with bikes. The latest and greatest 4-bike RV-approved rack is the Yakima LongHaul 4 Bike Rack - 2" Hitches - Silver Item # Y02476. I have linked a video review of this rack for you. Turning interference or interference from incline changes are possible with dual hitch adapters like the # RM-077-6. • Why Cant Hollywood Racks Road Runner Bike Rack be Used on a 5th Wheel Trailer
The reason that the Hollywood Racks Road Runner # HR400 isn't compatible with a 5th wheel trailer is simply because Hollywood Racks hasn't tested and approved it for this use. Since trailer hitches on 5th wheels sit further away from the axle than what it does on a passenger vehicle this causes accessories, like bike racks, to have much more movement. This puts more stress on bike rack frames and if they haven't been tested or approved the rack could get damaged. For a similar bike rack...
