Recommended Bike Rack for 2023 Jayco Eagle 355MBQS  

I love this rack; it is heavy duty and solid; it is heavy to install by yourself, so I suggest having someone to assist in guiding it into the receiver tube. I use this on my 2007 E-450 Class C and also on my GMC 3500. These two vehicles are fitted with front mount hitches, (etrailer!) so that I can see the bikes and keep on eye on them. Also have used on the rear of a Jeep Cherokee. I have not folded mine up as I usually just leave it on the motorhome, and when I do need to take it off, I just lift it off without folding it, and store it in my garage. Many of the racks that I looked at (and one I purchased elsewhere), never indicated that they were not designed for RV use, I have always had good luck with e-trailer products and have been extremely pleased with everything purchased from them.

We have used this rack on a 32’ travel trailer with bumper re-enforcements and it has worked great. We have the biggest ebikes that Lectric makes and it handles them no problem. The vertical support bar does fold flat. The whole unit is very sturdy and heavy duty. It is quick and easy to get the bikes on and off.

I did considerable research on bike racks, weight ratings, etc. My concern was making darn sure the rack was designed for the use I was planning. Dropping a bike into someone else's windshield was absolutely a nitemare thought. In the end, Know that the Hollywood rack is rock solid good equipment. Mine is mounted on back of RV, sometimes my pickup. It comes with locks etc are keyed alike. That is a convenience you won't find everywhere. In your case, be aware of the reason rack manufacturers specify 'Not on the Back of 5th wheel or trailer'. You should discuss your requirements with technical support engineers for the rack you plan to buy. They test the racks stringently during the rating process and post limitations based on their risk and liability reviews. Here's the issue as I saw it. If your Load ( L ) is mounted on back of RV, then the distance from the axle to your Load is about 6-8 feet max. That's the 'moment arm' in engineering terms. If it's located on the back of a flat tow ( toad ) vehicle, then the distance is less than the RV case. The moment arm the distance that your configuration can 'throw' or accelerate your 'load'. My bikes weight 70#'s each, so I have a 150# hammer to whip. When you put the rack on a fifth wheel or trailer, then put a bike rack on the back of that, then you may have 2 moment arms to consider. The bike manufacturers are not testing that configuration. They just aren't going to tell you it's okay because of that. I didn't research any incident databases, but I get where they are coming from. Certainly my post may cause a stir, and many may say I don't know what I'm talking about. I simply couldn't get the technical support folks to be explicit about why this and why that. My suppositions came from one knowledgeable person who described the testing, and foreshadowed his thoughts. Play it safe!

I purchased this rack for the back of my fifth wheel trailer. *Positive attributes , heavy construction and the bikes do not move, very high quality, weight capacity, durable and solid. *Negative attributes , Difficult to load the second bike. Center tube with clamps does lower, but seems to be in the way. To lower center tube, bolt needs removing. For me personally, It was awkward to manage loading and unloading. No ramp offered, so lifting heavy e-bikes onto the rack is the only option. I sold the Hollywood RV Rider rack and purchased a Kuat Piston Pro and am much happier, although expensive.
