go power 30 amp automatic transfer switch

This transfer switch has been pre-wired to automatically change the primary source of AC current from inverter to shore power to conserve battery life. To prevent electrical interruptions, the time delay circuit board allows the alternate power source to stabilize before a transfer occurs. Additionally, since the switch only accepts one active source, it protects your electrical system from dangerous backfeed that can damage your equipment.

Automatic Transfer Switch Installation

There are several wiring configuration options, depending on the electrical application inside your RV. With this transfer switch, you will need to wire each component individually. This could include an inverter, a converter charger, shore power (or an on-board generator), and an AC panel.

cord knockouts

The plastic case also has cord knockouts for other connections.

Wiring Example

transfer wiring example

In this wiring example, the transfer switch selects between the inverter and shore power (or an on-board generator). The converter is also capable of charging the batteries while shore power is active. Lastly, the AC panel is powered by either the inverter or shore power, depending on which is currently providing power at the time.

I used this in my a-frame camper to allow me to power all of the electrical systems using either the shore power plug or the 3k inverter running on our lithium batteries. It was fairly easy to set up and get working quickly. It has allowed us to camp almost anywhere, RV parks with full hookups to boondocking in the mountains. I do recommend this product for similar situations.

Added an inverter to my travel trailer. To keep the inverter from inadvertently powering the converter when no shore power/generator is hooked up, you’d better have a transfer switch. Or be 100% perfect, all the time. Since nobody’s perfect, I made the choice to install the transfer switch. This gives shore/generator power priority over inverter power. It won’t let both be in use at the same time. Had it a year now. Works as advertised. No problems with install or use. It comes with some Wago lever nuts to make wiring connections inside the box. These only hold two wires. I found it helpful to buy some that held 3 10awg wires. See pic.

I switched to Lithium batteries and a 2000W Inverter in my RV. I also rewired my Electrical system to be able to run all but the air conditioner off my Inverter. Part of the rewiring included adding this transfer switch to my system. It switches between Inverter or shore power/generator power. It is easy to wire up and works great. I highly recommend this for anyone needing to switch between different power sources. Great product. Well worth the money.

Easy to install. Is working flawlessly. Could be great if transfer delay jumper was included for instant power transfer from shore to battery

by:

Good product, prompt delivery, the transfer switch works seamlessly transferring power from battery through the inverter when ac power is interrupted

The transfer switch has been working great. Absolutely no problems. The help I receive from your support was great. Very simple to install.

I installed this Go Power Auto Transfer Switch in a 1999 Ford E350 ambulance camper conversion last year to switch between the 30 amp shore power and a 2000 watt inverter to power the electrical outlets for things like the microwave, laptop, CPAP, etc. Wiring it in was easy; you have a primary input which is what it will normally use first (the shore power), a secondary input (the inverter) which it uses if there is no primary power, and the output, which is wired into the breaker panel. It is 100% set-and-forget once you install it.

by:

Just what I needed

by:

Easy install and works great! Automatically switches between my inverter and shore power.

by:

I purchased this 30A transfer switch for a rebuild of my son's 1985 GMC Vantura campervan. It was easy to install and works great! I would highly recommend this transfer switch to anyone with the need that this device provides.

by:

Great service from start to finish. Paul was super helpful and I was able to get the transfer switch in time for the weekend install! Thanks for all your help!

by:

It works as it should, no problems.

by:

Very easy to install. The quality of the box and wiring are very good as well.

by:

The product was easy to install and worked when I turned on the power. I installed it in my Toy Hauler along with an Inverter. I just installed it so time will tell but it seems to work well so far.

  • Using Go Power Automatic Transfer Switch to Switch Between Shore Power and Solar Power
The Go Power Automatic Transfer Switch # 34264403 that you referenced is a good way to automatically switch between shore power (when available) and an inverter that's being powered by solar charged batteries. It is always going to use shore power if it's present, and as long as the inverter is on, it will automatically switch to it once shore power is disconnected. For this type of setup, starting at the roof, you will of course first need the solar panels like the 220 watt # 34272628....

  • How Does Go Power Automatic Transfer Switch # 34270278 Connect to Shore Power and Inverter
The Go Power Automatic Transfer Switch # 34270278 that you are interested in was designed to automatically switch power sources between an inverter or an AC power source. You'd want to run the inverter you have now to this as well as the power source wiring from shore power and this would automatically take care of your AC power needs/switching. Basically your battery would connect to the inverter, the inverter to the # 34270278 and then the # 34270278 to your fuse panel. This does not...

  • Is There a Way to Use a Single Transfer Switch with Three Power Sources
Hey Fred, I do have an option for you but none of our power transfer switches will allow you to switch between three AC power sources. However, I do have a way for you to do this but you will need to install two power transfer switches like the Go Power Automatic Transfer Switch part # 34264403 for example. A transfer switch will have a single dominate side. So how the input is wired into the switch will affect how it passes power through, so two switches could be wired as you have suggested...

  • Troubleshooting Loud Noises Coming From A Transfer Switch Connected To An Inverter And Shore Power
Hey Andrew, A humming/buzzing noise can be an indication that the you either have a loose wire that's allowing for more resistance, too low gauge of wire used between the inverter and transfer switch, or you could have a faulty ground. Does it feel hot (temperature) on the inverter side of the wiring? I would doublecheck the inverter's manual to ensure that you used the right gauge wire, check for loose connections, and recheck that the ATS # 34264403 was properly grounded to the trailer...

  • Will Go Power Automatic Transfer Switch Transfer to Inverter When Shore Power is Lost
Yes, the Go Power Automatic Transfer Switch # 34264403 is designed to switch to inverter power when the shore power is disconnected (and there isn't a generator running). There is a 20-30 second delay for the switch to jump from one power source to another and that's set in place to help you avoid losing power. For example, if you're plugged into shore power and you started up a generator, the generator has priority so this unit will switch to the generator, but only after the generator...

The in-line fuse isn't included but you can purchase an appropriate sized fuse holder separately for your converter. • How are Generator, Shore Power, Converter, and Inverter Typically Connected
You'd need to use a transfer switch like the Go Power Automatic Transfer Switch part # 34264403 that you referenced for the output of the generator and the shore power to run to. From that you'd run to the converter charger which will convert the AC to DC to charge your battery and then you'd also run to the inverter to invert the DC power back to AC for any AC power. Your converter/charger may have an inverter section built into it or an out put that is AC without requiring the inverter.

This is not a switch you need to operate. The automatic delay feature allows between 15 and 20 seconds for stabilization. I confirmed this with my contact at Go Power.
