go power 30 amp automatic transfer switch

This transfer switch has been pre-wired to automatically change the primary source of AC current from inverter to shore power to conserve battery life. To prevent electrical interruptions, the time delay circuit board allows the alternate power source to stabilize before a transfer occurs. Additionally, since the switch only accepts one active source, it protects your electrical system from dangerous backfeed that can damage your equipment.

Automatic Transfer Switch Installation

There are several wiring configuration options, depending on the electrical application inside your RV. With this transfer switch, you will need to wire each component individually. This could include an inverter, a converter charger, shore power (or an on-board generator), and an AC panel.

cord knockouts

The plastic case also has cord knockouts for other connections.

Wiring Example

transfer wiring example

In this wiring example, the transfer switch selects between the inverter and shore power (or an on-board generator). The converter is also capable of charging the batteries while shore power is active. Lastly, the AC panel is powered by either the inverter or shore power, depending on which is currently providing power at the time.

Added an inverter to my travel trailer. To keep the inverter from inadvertently powering the converter when no shore power/generator is hooked up, you’d better have a transfer switch. Or be 100% perfect, all the time. Since nobody’s perfect, I made the choice to install the transfer switch. This gives shore/generator power priority over inverter power. It won’t let both be in use at the same time. Had it a year now. Works as advertised. No problems with install or use. It comes with some Wago lever nuts to make wiring connections inside the box. These only hold two wires. I found it helpful to buy some that held 3 10awg wires. See pic.

I switched to Lithium batteries and a 2000W Inverter in my RV. I also rewired my Electrical system to be able to run all but the air conditioner off my Inverter. Part of the rewiring included adding this transfer switch to my system. It switches between Inverter or shore power/generator power. It is easy to wire up and works great. I highly recommend this for anyone needing to switch between different power sources. Great product. Well worth the money.

The product was easy to install and worked when I turned on the power. I installed it in my Toy Hauler along with an Inverter. I just installed it so time will tell but it seems to work well so far.

Ask the Experts about this Go Power RV Transfer Switch

  • Will Two 12V Batteries be Enough to Power the 3000W Go Power Inverter # 34275013 for a Short Time
You can use two 12V batteries to power the Go Power Inverter # 34275013 but that all depends on what size 12V batteries you plan on using what "short periods of use" means. I reached out to my contact at Go Power and he said that if you are using deep cycle batteries and the load is not too excessive then you should be fine. For example, if you were trying to pull the full 3000 Watts out of the inverter that would be about 26 Amps AC or 260 Amps DC. If you were to run this for a half...

  • Transfer Switch for Use in RV that Has Progressive Dynamics 45 Amp Power Center
Any time you have more than one AC power source you need to use a transfer switch like the # 34264403. This kit will automatically switch from the inverter power to shore power when available. But since you have a 45 amp power center and the transfer switch you referenced is only designed for 30 amps you'd want the 50 amp Furrion Transfer Switch part # F50ATS. I attached a picture that shows the connectors that this uses. You'd want to run 6 gauge wire stripped back into the pins and...

  • Using Go Power Automatic Transfer Switch to Switch Between Shore Power and Solar Power
The Go Power Automatic Transfer Switch # 34264403 that you referenced is a good way to automatically switch between shore power (when available) and an inverter that's being powered by solar charged batteries. It is always going to use shore power if it's present, and as long as the inverter is on, it will automatically switch to it once shore power is disconnected. For this type of setup, starting at the roof, you will of course first need the solar panels like the 200 watt # 34272628....

  • Protecting RV Electronics With The Go Power Transfer Switch
I can see why you would want to install the Go Power Automatic Transfer Switch # 34264403 as it would protect your system from power back feed, but the Progressive Dynamics RV Power Control Center # PD4135K does come with some safety features to protect itself in some cases. For instance, If a battery is accidentally hooked up backwards, the converter will be protected. An easily accessible ATC type fuse will blow when a battery is connected in reverse. • Recommended Power Transfer Switch for Three AC Power Sources

However, I do have a way for you to do this but you will need to install two power transfer switches like the Go Power Automatic Transfer Switch part # 34264403 for example. Basically you'd need a little over 10 amps of power at any given point based on the wattage of the accessories you mentioned so the 30 amp transfer switch part # 34264403 would easily work really well since it has about 3 times the amperage requirement. This would be a really solid choice that would work well so I recommend it for you! We also don't have anything lower amperage either.

  • Is Time Delay Feature on Go Power Transfer TS-30 Switch 34264403 Manual or Automatic
The instructions for the Go Power Transfer Switch # 34264403 do refer to a "time delay module" that automatically gives generators a brief time to warm up and stabilize their output before it is connected to the load side of the system. This is not a switch you need to operate. The automatic delay feature allows between 15 and 20 seconds for stabilization. I confirmed this with my contact at Go Power. • What Prevents Back Feed Into Solar Controller When Connected to Shore Power or Generator
Solar kits and battery chargers are completely separate systems and do not interact with each other aside from making contact with the same battery bank.
