Wiring Instructions For The Go Power Automatic Transfer Switch # 34264403

Question:

I would like to use the 34264403 TS-30 as a hardwiredfoot equivalent of the pre-wired GP-TS in our travel trailer. In particular I want to power a converter/charger only when shore power is connected as with the pre-wired GP-TS. The GP-TS wiring diagram shows the converter/charger being wired to the N.O. neutral and hot terminals the shore power neutral and hot leads also connect to these N.O. terminals. The inverter is connected to the N.C. terminals. Can the 34264403 be wired in the same way? Are the switch relays identical between the two versions? Does the 34264403 come with an in-line fuse for the charger connection as shown in the GP-TS wiring diagram. If not, can this be purchased separately? Thank you,

The GP-TS and # 34264403 are the same exact transfer switch so this would be the same thing you already have if I'm understanding you correctly. The in-line fuse isn't included but you can purchase an appropriate sized fuse holder separately for your converter. You'll need to see what size fuse is required for your specific converter though to ensure you get one rated high enough.

In a typical setup the converter/charger should only have power when connected to shore/generator power so you wouldn't have to worry about the inverter pulling power from the battery to recharge itself in a power loop. Most inverters aren't going to have enough wattage to run everything in the RV and typically require a subpanel with all of the circuit breakers that you can power separated from the main panel. You'll typically have a circuit breaker in the main that allows power to pass through the inverter when connected to shore power or sense when there's no shore power and will then turn the invertor on.

If your system isn't set up the typical way I have listed above then the converter will just need to be wired to the N.O. terminals in order to only receiver power when connected to shore. Just make sure you check the amperage on the converter so that you can fuse the line properly.
