Features to know about

Predictable Power Switching That Works in the Background

When shore power is available, this transfer switch automatically connects it to your RV's electrical panel. If you start your generator, the switch waits 20-30 seconds before transferring power, giving the generator time to stabilize. When the generator shuts off, power immediately returns to shore. You're never left guessing which source is active.

Built to Keep Power Sources From Competing

50-Amp PowerMax transfer switch internal components held by human for size: Will my power sources compete with each other?

Running more than one power source should never mean risking backfeed or electrical conflicts. This switch is designed so only one AC input can feed your system at a time, helping protect your wiring, appliances, and power equipment from damage caused by overlapping sources.

Designed With Generator and Shore Power Reality in Mind

Power conditions are not always perfect, especially when generators are involved. The built-in time delay allows generator voltage to settle before power is transferred, helping reduce stress on sensitive electronics. The switch is made to handle real-world RV electrical loads, not just ideal conditions.

Installation Guidance That Helps Prevent Costly Mistakes

The enclosure can be mounted in any orientation and includes knockouts for clean wire routing, but placement matters. This switch is designed for dry locations and should be installed away from heat sources, water exposure, batteries, and flammable materials. Proper clearance allows heat to dissipate and helps the system operate reliably over time.

Video Transcript for Review of PowerMax RV Transfer Switch - 50 Amp PMTS Series Automatic - PM79FR

Hi everybody. Andy here with etrailer. Let's take a quick look at this PowerMax 50 amp PMTS series automatic transfer switch. Now this is an automatic transfer switch for RVs. It's going to make switching between shore power and a generator completely hands-free and totally safe. In an RV with 50 amp service, you usually have two possible power sources.

This switch is going to constantly monitor them and automatically choose the right one. So if you start the generator, it's gonna wait about 20 to 30 seconds to make sure that the voltage is stable, and then it's going to switch over, so your appliances aren't hit with dirty or fluctuating power. When you plug back into shore power, this is going to switch back on its own. Now one big benefit is going to be protection. This won't ever let the RV be connected to both power sources at the same time, which could damage the electrical system.

And this is also designed with a reliable relay system that's commonly used in motor homes, travel trailers, and even off-grid setups where people have multiple power inputs. So as you can see, I started our time together with the cover off. I'm gonna go ahead and pop the cover back on, and then I'm gonna go ahead and just give you some measurements here. So looking at the overall width, we're sitting right at eight inches wide. Overall height right at about eight and seven-eighths inches tall, almost nine inches tall.

And then the depth, about five and a quarter inches deep. And then this weighs roughly right at about six pounds or so. So this is gonna keep your RV powered safely and automatically, no matter which power source that you're using. And again, it's built for 50 amp RVs, and it's gonna work great as a replacement for older switches, or as an upgrade for anyone who wants hassle-free power management. As you probably already saw as well, there's gonna be knockout holes throughout this casing as well.

But if you happen to have any other questions, whether it's about the switch or anything else that we have here at etrailer, don't hesitate to reach out. We ultimately wanna make sure that you're getting exactly what you need. Well, again, my name is Andy. Thank you for joining me.
