You're checking battery levels in an RV but don't want another display to install. This monitor uses a 99.6% accurate shunt and the VictronConnect app to show state of charge and usage, so you get precise data without adding a screen.
Basic voltage indicators leave you guessing when you're trying to figure out battery state of charge or how much power you've actually used. This monitor replaces that guesswork with 99.6 percent accurate shunt measurement technology and puts battery state of charge, voltage, current, amp hours, number of charge cycles, and time remaining into the VictronConnect app instead of a built-in screen. You get detailed battery visibility without cutting in a panel or adding display hardware, so the install stays cleaner while the data gets far more useful.
A fixed display only works when you're standing in front of it, which gets old fast in RV, marine, or off-grid setups. This unit sends real-time monitoring and configuration to the VictronConnect smartphone app, with in-app visibility of battery and DC flow data plus up to 30 days of history, configurable alerts, and firmware updates through the app. You can pull up live numbers, review recent system behavior, and change settings from a mobile device instead of walking back to a mounted monitor every time you want to check what's going on.
Standalone monitors can turn into a dead end when you want battery data to do more than sit on one screen. This SmartShunt adds VE.Smart Networking over Bluetooth for wireless data sharing and system integration, and it includes a VE.Direct port for connection to a GX device (sold separately) and VRM access. It can transmit battery voltage, current, and temperature to connected chargers, so the monitor becomes part of the wider system instead of a separate readout you check on its own.
Adding better battery monitoring usually means more wiring, more clutter, and more stuff to mount. This unit is built for installation flexibility in new or existing systems, with easy retrofitting, minimal wiring, and reduced cable clutter, while the auxiliary connection can be used for second battery monitoring, midpoint monitoring, or temperature sensing. You can upgrade from a basic setup to detailed battery tracking without turning the install into a full panel project.

Hi, everybody. Andy here with etrailer. Let's take a quick look at this Victron Smart Shunt 500 amp battery monitor. Now this is a smart battery monitor that's gonna tell you exactly what's going on with your battery bank. It's a device that's going to sit in line with your battery and it's going to track exactly what's going in and what's going out of it, such as your current, voltage, amp hours used, state of charge, and even an estimate of how much runtime you have left. But what makes this smart is that it doesn't need a screen.
Instead, this does have built-in Bluetooth, so you just open up the Victron Connect app on your smartphone or tablet to see all of your battery information. And that's going to be a free, that app is gonna be a free download in your app store. And this is going to keep the install clean and simple. So, fewer wires and no dashboard display to mount. Now, this is rated up to 500 amps, so this is going to work well for those larger systems like your RV, van, boat, off-grid setups, and solar battery banks.
And the shunt itself is 50 millivolts, which is standard for accurate professional grade battery monitoring. And if you are running other Victron equipment, this has a VE Direct Port, so you're gonna be able to connect it to a Victron GX device and view battery data on a full system display or remotely. Bringing my ruler into frame here, let me give you some measurements just so you have a good idea of the size. So the overall length, we're sitting pretty close to 4 3/4 inches. The overall height right at about 1 3/4 inches tall.
And the thickness, might be kind of tricky to show you, Let's say right at about one and. About 1 7/8th inches or so. So, hopefully that gives you a good idea of the size. This does include everything that you see here. You are also going to get instructions.
But if you happen to have any other questions, whether it's about this or anything that we have here at etrailer, don't hesitate to reach out. Ultimately, we wanna make sure that you're getting exactly what you need. Well, again, my name is Andy. Thank you for joining me.
