Transfer Switch for Use in RV that Has Progressive Dynamics 45 Amp Power Center

Updated 11/04/2019 | Published 11/03/2019

Question:

i am using a progressive dynamics 45 amp power center on a home made trailer. I have a 800 watt microwave, a small toaster oven and a few outlets. the toaster oven will not be in operation while the microwave is on. It is for small meal heat up anyway. I would like to hook up my 2000 watt converter to use for the outlets when boondocking. I am guessing I need a transfer switch and would like some expertise on the connections. I have a 200 watt solar rig, but that should not interfere. I use a portable generator at times which is connected at the shore power connection. It is not hard wired.

Any time you have more than one AC power source you need to use a transfer switch like the # 34264403. This kit will automatically switch from the inverter power to shore power when available. But since you have a 45 amp power center and the transfer switch you referenced is only designed for 30 amps you'd want the 50 amp Furrion Transfer Switch part # F50ATS.

I attached a picture that shows the connectors that this uses. You'd want to run 6 gauge wire stripped back into the pins and then use the set screws to hold them in place.

Your generator would be running to the inverter which would be ran to this switch so it would not need to have anything done to it's connections.
