Advent Air Dometic Plug-In

This AC unit from Advent Air is designed to replace the old or broken Dometic air conditioner on your RV or camper. It plugs directly into your Dometic setup and works seamlessly with your existing, in-good-working-order Dometic air distribution box and thermostat. This eliminates the need of an adapter wiring kit, which saves you time and effort. The AC has a powerful fan and motor that provides a steady stream of air to efficiently cool the inside of your RV on a hot or muggy day. The included start capacitor will help jumpstart the AC. This beneficial upgrade provides the AC a boost when shore power or generator power isn't enough to start it. And everything you need in order to replace your AC unit is included, which makes installation simple and easy.

Start Capacitor

Advent Air Start Capacitor

If your campsite or generator isn't able to draw the power you need, then you may have difficulty starting your AC unit. The included start capacitor, however, can eliminate this problem. The capacitor stores energy that will later be used to jumpstart the AC. Once the sufficient amount of power has been supplied to the AC, the compressor will start to run, and the internal relay switch will turn the start capacitor off. At the same time, the compressor will send "back voltage" to the relay switch and capacitor in order to energize them for the next startup.

Simple Installation

Advent Air AC Installation 15,000 BTU

Because your RV is likely already prepped and pre-wired for an AC unit, installation is simple and easy. Most AC units, including this one, are designed to fit an opening that measures 14-1/4" x 14-1/4". Depending on your roof setup, you may need to do minimal alterations. If the opening is larger than 14-3/8" x 14-3/8", you will need to install spacers between the sides of the unit and the opening's edges. If the opening is smaller than 14-1/8" x 14-1/8", you will need to enlarge the hole to fit the unit snugly inside the opening.

Advent Air AC Collapsible Gasket and Foam Pads

On the bottom of the AC, there's a thick, collapsible gasket with 6 noise-reducing foam pads. This provides support between the RV roof and AC and seals the opening to prevent water and outside air from leaking in. Because of this, the use of fresh sealant isn't required during installation.

To install the start capacitor, bolt it to the fan motor support with the included hardware and then route the wires to the run capacitor.

Once installed, the hard plastic cover on the AC can easily be removed for maintenance and cleaning.

Advent Air Warranty Coverage

2-Year limited warranty covers defective units when installed correctly on approved applications. The warranty does not cover units installed incorrectly. To ensure air conditioner is installed correctly, please see the questionnaire pdf below. A filled-out questionnaire is required for warranty coverage.

If you are not comfortable using a voltmeter (or removing the charge from the start capacitor), youll want to make a service appointment with your local RV dealer to verify the installation. Print the pdfs below (warranty- questionnaire, warranty dealer information) and take them along with the RV to your local dealer. ASA does compensate dealers for warranty work as outlined in the dealer information pdf. You may be charged by the dealer for time spent investigating the installation.

by:

Bought Advent air conditioner as a replacement for a Dometic that quit working. Perfect replacement with easy installation. Arrived quicker than expected too. Very satisfied!!!

by:

My Dometic had a leak after 6 years. I decided to replace it with this Advent and couldn’t be happier. Total install time by myself was about an hour and a half including the soft start install. I watched a couple of videos which helped greatly. It’s shown here with the old unit in front. I’ve had it for about 2 days and it will take it down to 65 degrees.

by:

Old dometic unit stopped cooling after many years, this has good reviews and I purchased it. Install was a breeze as it was plug and play. Back in business. Cools great and young lady on the phone (Cloda M)was knowledgeable about product.

by:

Easy, works great. You need a lift to get it up there. Plugged right in where my old one came out.

by:

Running great after figuring out the wiring to thermostat.

by:

Bought one last year & now buying another one this year.
Hope this one last many years. I think the units are good but they never get shipped right side up as marked on the boxes.I have been told, the oil in the lines get in the compressor when not keep upright which makes the compressor go bad. installing this one next week but it came layed down also, I will keep my fingers crossed.

by:

ETreailer provided us with the AC after receiving the wrong replacement AC from our RV manufacturer at lower price. Great staff. Fast accurate complete service. Everything fit and works with no leaks.

by:

It would not fit where I ordered it for and after a month of calling back and forth trying to find the right hardware I gave up and ordered another unit and kept this one for a rainy day

by:

This was a great upgrade unite coming form a 13K and Very easy install. To the people that are are doing the install them selves, go get a 1/4" Torque wrench and Torgue the mounting bolts down equally. If the instructions say torque to 4LBS then take it to 2 lb then 3 then 4 or 5Lbs... You will not leak that way

by:

I would suggest that anyone looking for an AC for your RV look no further
They had me my replacement AC in 2 days
Wasn't on the phone More than 5-6 minutes an everything was completely as promised!
Great help
Thanks Again

by:

Box was a little beat up And one small debt in cover. Overall it needs a little bit more cushion or packaging around the back end of the unit

It does look like it had a bumpy ride. Customer Service will be in touch with you. Stay frosty.

by:

Installation was super easy! We ran it all last summer with absolutely no issues whatsoever! When our other AC unit finally quits, I'll definitely buy another Advent from eTrailer!!!!

by:

I have just installed this AC so I do not have any long term experience with it yet. It installed easily and was almost an exact match for my Dometic unit, plug and play.

by:

Great price for a direct replacement. Takes a lot of the hassle of changing. Thanks.

by:

Easy to install, straight swap for the old unit. It provided very good airflow to the front and back of the RV and cooled well also.
Actually didn't require the start capacitor to work with our Onan generator.
Product arrived with cosmetic damage.
Prepare the roof area and clear all debris (1)
Situate the upper unit and offer up the internal frame (2) Adjust position slightly if needed.
Carefully select the internal steel duct height to suit your roof thickness - shown in (3) un-compresssed.
Cinch down all four mounting bolts evenly to compress the foam gasket sufficiently without over-tightening (4)

by:

Paula did a great job walking through get the right a/c for my camper. Everything she told me was correct when it came to installation etc. Thank you!!

by:

Got here fast! Hooked up easy was a direct fit for my Dometic a/c.

quieter than the old one! Excellent replacement!

by:

When it arrived on time the box was undamaged. When opened the base was bent on 3 side and the left rear corner of the cover was cracked. Was able to straighten the base will have to live with the crack. As noted, the box was undamaged. Installation was simple and straight forward.

by:

I have used this unit for a year and have not had any problems with it. I had a Dometic that quit after 3 years. This unit is a little louder than the Dometic but it has a stronger air flow and seems to cool the RV better. The Dometic lower unit connected to the Advent top unit with no problems.

by:

2 stars for UPS as the AC was delivered damaged. It was transported with the back end down because the compressor was tilted to the back and the accumulator was touching the condenser housing. I was able to straighten the base at the compressor supports and get the compressor back perpendicular to the base and get 1/4" space for the accumulator. The front of the base has a dent which is only cosmetic. The white shroud has a small dimple where the top of the compressor came in contact with the shroud. Something was put on top of the box to force the shroud to hit the compressor.
3 stars for Advent for having no instructions with the unit, insufficient packaging for motor freight, insufficient warnings for keeping the unit upright, and a noisy compressor. Although the squirrel cage blower has a 5 mm wobble, it manages to run smooth. Seams to perform OK and time will tell if it can out last Dometic. I have had 2 Dometic units, first lasted 3 years and the last one 6 years.
Note most people would not notice the compressor noise, but I have ducted discharge and ducted return air.
4 stars for e-trailer for being easy to order and helpful with technical questions. They do not know everything, but did get me Advent technical support for help. Order status was inaccurate, it showed a 2 week shipping delay and then it was shipped with only 1/2 week delay.

by:

Shipping was very fast... Thank you. However, quite a bit of minor damage was done to my unit during shipping. The base plate of the entire unit had a HUGE indentation where it was probably dropped on something and I was able to bend everything back with a large hammer. Also the foam insulative protection around the condensor was ripped away from its mount and cracked in half. I repaired it with silicon seal. You guys really need to do something about shipping damage. I haven't installed the unit yet and am keeping my fingers crossed hoping it will work as intended.

by:

Make two hand hole one for each of the box. I put a rope around the box and pull on to the roof no problem then I took out box

by:

Should come with the start capacitor already installed

by:

The unit arrived in good shape and with all parts. easy to install except for wiring. interface. My RV has dual units, but was successful and it works great !

by:

Product fit and performed as advertised but the shipping time can be a little misleading. My order was a day late so it doesn’t sit well with my customers either. Especially when it’s 95 degrees outside.
