Quiet, Secure Ride
The 3/4" thick jaw on the Patriot is precision machined to provide a tight, sturdy connection. And unlike slide-bar models, the rounded 2-piece jaw on this fifth-wheel trailer hitch inhibits rattle and movement by securely wrapping around your trailer's king pin, resulting in easier hookup and a safer, quieter ride.
In addition to the sturdy jaw, the Patriot has durable polyurethane bushings built in to provide a smoother, more comfortable towing experience. These bushings sit on top of the pivot arms that support the fifth-wheel head. Because the head is resting on padded area, it is able to pivot without clanking. The ability of the head to pivot - both front to back and side to side - along with the trailer also helps to limit the chucking that may occur with a more static hitch.
Non-Binding Latch Handle
The dual jaw on the Patriot is operated by a simple-to-use cam-action handle. This handle allows you to quickly and easily release the jaws on the hitch, even if you are on uneven terrain. If any binding does occur between your truck and trailer, the jaws may remain closed after you move the handle to the open position. But because the handle is unlatched, there is nothing keeping the jaws closed except for the binding pressure. Therefore, simply driving your truck forward will be enough to force the jaws to open.
The cam-action handle is held in the closed position with the included pin and clip. For extra security, you can replace the pin with a sturdy padlock. The shackle on the lock you choose should have a diameter of 5/16", height of 3", and a width of 2-1/4".
Easily Adjustable Design
The B&W Patriot can be adjusted up and down for optimal positioning. As a result, this hitch can easily accommodate the height of your trailer.
Built-In Slider
Most often used on trucks with 6' beds, a slider helps to eliminate clearance problems during slow-speed turns. When you are towing a fifth-wheel trailer, your hitch must be situated on the cab side of your truck's rear axle. However, at slow speeds you can use a slider to slide the fifth-wheel hitch (and the trailer) toward your truck's tailgate and past the rear axle, creating enough space between the cab of your truck and the trailer to permit less-restricted turning.
The slider that is built into the base of the Patriot allows for 12" of fore and aft travel to give you the clearance you need.

From the start,the folks at etrailer were very courteous and helpful. I called many times during the decision making process and everyone was always right there to help. When I finally decided to purchase the B&W 18K Patriot w/slider Bailey was there to help with the order. She explained the free freight shipping and it was a done deal. It arrived 1 day earlier than stated, as soon as I opened the cartons it was in fact the good ol' American made quality I was accustomed to growing up. I proceeded to install on the B&W rails I purchased and installed locally on my 2022 F250 Lariat/ Tremor.I had a small hick- up with the install and etrailer gave me B&W's # as they like to handle issues themselves. Stephanie at B&W was just as courteous. Overall a very pleasant experience. The Patriot was basically plug and play. I then connected my 2021 Grand Design 303RLS Reflection and rolled down yhe road. What a smooth and quiet ride, loved it! I would definitely recommend etrailer and their products. Thank you all that helped.

So far so good. Hitch appears to be good quality. It was easy to install after installing the mounting kit. I haven't used it yet so I can't comment on how it handles when pulling a camper.

This hitch is great! Works flawlessly and is easy to install. Directions for mounting hardware sucks . I I’m on of those who like to just hold it up and see how it works. I recommend reading the crappy instructions and then hold the brackets up. Front bar directions good rear bar is bad .

Great hitch in my 2015 Ram 2500 Short Bed. I had to contact B&W due to a concern with tightening the mounting bolts. The threads in the holes are painted, B&W said to run a tap through the threads. Also I was missing a few bolts on previously installed mounting kit. B&W sent me the whole bolt kit overnight for free. Awesome American company proudly supporting their products. I highly recommend their products. Also etrailer sent this hitch to me in a timely manner at a great price. I would use etrailer again. Thank you!

The hitch performed as advertised. It was easy to install, fitting my current rails perfectly. It is heavy and requires a minimum of two young strong people to install it. I was very pleased with eTrailer.

Overall a very solid hitch. The dual jaw system I’ve never used before just had a slide bar, and after one year using this hitch, the jaws are very forgiving especially when the hitch is in a bind. Just pull the handle and the jaws release with ease.

I’ve had 2 Reese hitches before this b&w and this puts them to shame I absolutely love the ease of hooking and unhooking and it is totally quiet it fit my rail system perfectly

There was a snafu on the delivery of this, like it ending up 1000 miles from my house on the first try, and then the delivery company getting mad at me for not having a forklift at my house. Since I just got this yesterday I can't say much ab out it yet, I am still trying to install it. I do suggest a hoist in your garage if you plan on removing this hitch at all, it is heavy. It looks to be in great condition though! I can't wait to get it attached so I can give it a test drive on a 2 hour trip. I can tell you that two RV retailers suggested this B&W hitches, so I have high hopes. With all the products on the market today, to get recommendations from two different companies that installs them, is impressive.

Functionally, this is a rock solid 5th wheel hitch. It takes a bit to get the hang of using it, and it is very heavy to move, when you want to access more of the truck bed. I have yet to use the slider function and after using it for a year, I can’t see that I will ever need to.

Great 5th wheel hitch for the cost, easy to use. It is a heavier unit, so once it's in, it's pretty much stays there, yet removing it to just the rails isn't difficult at all.

First let me say that this is a great Hitch it's heavy duty and soild, the installation is not that hard if your mechanical inclined, the instructions can be a bit confusing, but just take your time keep all hardware together with each box that contains your parts and it will go together without any problems.this Hitch has a lot of adjustments for a short truck bed that's why I choose this one and it's made in the USA. Etrailer delivered just what i needed and a day early

The products are good. however due to your web page shutting down in the middle of the ordering process, when it came back up the cart showed empty so I ordered the hitch. When it stated there were two items in the cart, I assumed that the installation kit was also ordered. Unfortunately, it wasn't until I received the notice of shipping that I realized the order had been placed for two hitches. I contacted your customer service and explained what happened and was told that since the order had already shipped, there was nothing that he could do. (He did state that if I refused delivery of one of the hitches I would be charged shipping both ways for the one hitch($590), I said that this did not seem fair.

Unit is solid and well built, just as advertised. Assembly and installation was straightforward but prepare for lifting help as the base unit is quite heavy.
This is a replacement upgrade and I can't wait for weather to get better and go camping.

Don't do business with etrailer they are crooks. Ordered a hitch, no shipping. When it wasn't the item I needed they encouraged me to return for a refund. They charged $[XX]. in shipping. This was after I ordered a $[XX]. hitch. They have forever lost my business if this is how they treat customers.

Very happy with. Heavy duty American made. My old one didn’t even pivot right to left and was sloppy/clunky. I know this is going to be amazing and save me from backing trailer into truck when turning sharp with my short bed ram 2500.

The B&W exceeded expectation when towing the 5th wheel. Pound for pound one of the best hitches out there. It would have been a 5 star rating, however the Lippert Never Fail Whisper Disk Lube Plate ordered with hitch is subpar, as it does not stay on the hitch pin and customer service could not help and deferred me to Lippert.

*update* before our 3200 mile trip with a camper, we chose to upgrade our truck from a Ram 1500 to a Ram 2500. The hitch fit perfectly in both trucks. Our trip was a success. The hitch worked exceptionally. My only complaint would be a slight rattle between the hitch and mounting system when not hooked up to a camper. I temporarily fixed this by placing a piece of cardboard between to take up the slack. The other fix is to turn up the radio, lol. With the 1500 I used the slide for maneuvers but with the 2500 I really didnt need to slide the 5th wheel. I would definitely recommend this hitch, it is very good quality. I also remove the saddle when not towing. I just dont want to find it missing one day. It is very easy to remove and a replacement is around $350. It takes 2 people to lift into and out of the bed, so I installed a small chain hoist in my garage ceiling for easy lifting in and out by myself. I home this helps.
