Is It Safe to Use My Yakima SkyBox 16 on My Inno Aero Crossbars?

Hello! I recently purchased the Inno Aero Crossbars for my 2020 Subaru Forester to hold a Yakima Skybox 16. I had read in the QandA that these crossbars would work with the Skybox 16. We were able to install the crossbars and get them to work with the Skybox 16, but we did notice that theres a significant gapping of the clamp and also that inside, the thumb wheels are barely on the screw. I just wanted to verify whether this setup is safe or if you recommend getting a thinner crossbar so the clamps can close further. Ive attached some photos for reference. Thanks for your help!

I have a solution for you. The question that you saw was correct that the Yakima SkyBox 16 # Y07335 will fit the Inno Aero Crossbars on your 2020 Subaru Forester. However, from the photos you provided, one of the mounts doesn't look like it's sitting on the crossbar completely. You may need to adjust the position of the mount and move the box or the mounting hardware into position.

In addition, you can loosen the knob that allows a single mount to slide up and back to get the mounting hardware positioned into the crossbar better, then the clamp should close. Also, it is important to check to make sure that the SkyBox 16 is sitting on the on the bar flat in order to make sure it sits flat on the crossbars. When you are done readjusting, I recommend checking all of the mounts and making sure to tighten the slides again when they're all positioned and the box is sitting straight.
