Note: This is only to be used with gas appliances. For a similar device that will work for travel trailers and 5th wheels, see GS24FR.

GasStop has reengineered its popular propane shutoff device for RVs and made this version for your backyard grill or griddle. It looks similar, with the same ACME (Type 1) connection that you would use on a travel trailer. The difference is the GasStop BBQ is more sensitive and will shut off at a lower level of flow that would indicate a leak.

The original GasStop is made to allow the use of propane for cooking, heating water, and running a generator all at once. Thats why the original model should not be used for grills. If there's a small leak in your grill's hose, for example, the original GasStop might not shut down the flow. By engineering a more sensitive valve, this GasStop is perfect for all kinds of cooktops or propane accessories.

Using the Pressure Gauge to Test for Minor Leaks

GasStop Safety Valve Testing for Minor Leaks

The integrated pressure gauge provides a clear and easy way to tell what your propane tanks gas pressure is while the gas is being used. If it's on "high", there's been an increase in gas pressure, most likely due to excessive heat, and you'll have to cool the tank down. If it's on "gas", then you'll know you still have plenty of usable gas left. And if it's on "low", then it's time to switch out your tanks. The gauge is also rotatable, so it can be used from any angle, though it is recommended to keep it no lower than 45 degrees from the sky.

The gauge can also be used to test for minor leaks. Once the GasStop safety valve has been installed and the gas appliances have been turned off, push down on the gauge 4 to 6 times to see what the gas pressure is. If the needle is below the red bar on the gauge, then one or more of the following is the cause: the cylinder valve isn't open, the GasStop safety valve has shut off, you have run out of gas, you haven't pushed the gauge the appropriate number of times, or the temperature is around freezing.

If the needle is above the red bar, note its exact position before turning off the valve on your propane tank. If the needle is in the same position after 60 seconds, you can continue to use your propane system. If the needle dropped during that time, there is a leak somewhere. You shouldn't use your propane system until that leak has been found and repaired.

Easy to install and makes system safer in event of problems.

by:

6 months after purchase, the regulator is leaking from the vent. We don't have propane until it is replaced.

by:

Excellent shipping! Product quality is good. I replaced a stock regulator and hoses with this package. The automatic changeover works great and the braided lines are much better than the stock rubber hoses. The only complaint is that the pressure gauges are a bit cheap but still functional.

by:

I wish this design had a better way to mount. I ended up having to zip tie it on, as it really didn't have a good mounting option. I would be happy to fashion something for my specific application, but it doesn't have good mounting holes.

by:

Quick delivery! Exactly what we needed.

by:

Exactly what I ordered. Now I need to get it installed onto my trailer.

by:

Very professional service. Elijah was a terrific help. I can’t tell you what a wonderful experience to have such knowledgeable help.

by:

This has worked wonderfully for us, I have the confidence to know it will shut off the gas if there is an issue. It was very easy to install and other than having take the tanks out to have them filled it has been fantastic. I guess there is nothing you can do about using the gas though.

by:

installed it on my 2019 Jayco Pinnacle with 40# tank.

by:

The propane gauge set has worked perfectly over the past year. No issues. And it cured the water heater problem that I had for years before using this part. I’ve always been happy with Etrailer supplies and parts.

by:

Thank you so much! My problem was solved quickly and professional and just in time for our last minute winter trip! When ever it matters, always count on etrailer for the solution that works everything. The parts you need, the help you need!

by:

Works as advertised.I did have to drill new mounting holes.

by:

This system can be replaced on the jayco northpoint 2022 340ckts— although the propane cylinders have to be rotated a certain way with the regulator raised upward.

by:

Item came quick! Exactly what I needed. Excellent customer service.

  • Is There a GasStop Piece for After the Propane Regulator?
Hey Ed, thanks for reaching out! Why wouldn't the GasStop # GS89FR work for your fittings? This connects directly to the propane tank and then provides a connection for your pigtail to your regulator. They don't have a GasStop for after the regulator because these are designed to stop a leak at the source - right where the valve is. We do have another kit as part # GS59FR that has pigtails set up with connections for the propane tanks and to the regulator, if you'd rather swap out your...
