This premium 2-bike rack is perfect for the serious cyclist who cares as much about style as performance. It's safe for carbon frames and the front-mounted foot pedal makes it easy to access your cargo area without removing your bikes.

Note: May interfere with bikes with front fenders.
The Sherpa has ratcheting hooks that grab your bikes firmly by the front wheel - not the frame. It's perfect for carrying carbon bikes or bikes with a custom paint job. To load a bike, simply place your front wheel in the cradle, rotate the arm up and over the wheel, and press down firmly on the ratcheting hook.
The large, folding front-wheel cradles accommodate most bike wheels. The hinged cradles flip up to hold your wheels in place and fold down so they're out of the way when the rack is folded up against your vehicle. There is a hook-and-loop strap on each cradle that wraps around the tray and through the spokes of your wheel to hold the wheel in place. You can also use the straps to secure the cradles flat so they don't flop around when the rack is in the stored position.
The pivoting rear-wheel cradles self-adjust to accommodate your bike's wheelbase. Set your bike's rear wheel into the cradle and it will automatically adjust to grip your wheel at the optimal angle. Use the ratcheting strap to secure your wheel to the cradle.
The spring-loaded foot lever is easily accessible even with your bikes loaded. No more crawling through your bikes or squeezing between the rack and the vehicle to hit the tilt release lever.
The foot lever lets you tilt the rack down with bikes loaded for cargo area access. It leaves both hands free so that you can lower the rack in a controlled manner. When the rack is unloaded you can fold it up for storage.
The knob at the front of the shank lets you quickly and easily install the rack. Just slide the shank into your hitch and turn the knob until snug. The knob deploys an anti-rattle wedge inside the shank to help take play out of the hitch connection. The locking hitch pin has an Allen tool on the end that further tightens the hand knob if you are still experiencing rattle after hand-tightening.
The Sherpa 2.0 includes locks to secure your bikes to the rack and the rack to your vehicle. The 1/4" thick cable threads around your bike frames, passes through the cable's looped latch tip, and inserts into the lock on the outside bike tray. Coil up the cable and store it in your vehicle or bike bag when it's not in use.
To lock the rack to your hitch, simply insert the hitch pin and connect the lock to the end of the pin. The locks are keyed alike so you can use the same keys for both locks.

This premium 2-bike rack is perfect for the serious cyclist who cares as much about style as performance. It's safe for carbon frames and the front-mounted foot pedal makes it easy to access your cargo area without removing your bikes. We really like our Kuat Sherpa bike rack. It's easy for one person to install and remove, and it's easy to load the bikes on it. It holds the bikes securely--we've driven on freeways and on bumpy mountain roads with the bikes in place and had no problems. Because it's not on the car all the time, it doesn't add weight and detract from mileage unless it's in use, unlike our old rooftop carrier, which was permanently in place. When we're traveling with our bikes, we like that the Sherpa locks securely to the trailer hitch and that bikes lock securely to the Sherpa. All in all, this is an excellent product, and we are very pleased with the service we received from etrailer for our purchase.
Well packed for shipment. Was on time when the shipment arrived. Above average quality. Directions were a bit confusing but I figured it out. Tools to assemble were included. That's usual. My wife and I are over 65 and want to start biking. Our bikes are nice so we wanted a quality rack. This Serpa fits the bill. I recommend it. A little pricey, but I waited until a holiday sale to save a few bucks. etrailer had a good price compared to others. The website said it would arrive in three days. Got it in two days. That might have been because I live in the same state as they do business in.
Excellent rack, so easy to install in the hitch and tighten. Holds 2 bikes well including safe for carbon fiber. Looks great, easy to lock. Very convenient that it can tilt away from car while loaded with bikes so rear hatch can open. Worth the price.
Recently installed this to our 2 inch hitch on a Subaru Legacy and did a 500 roundtrip with no issues. Rack is super sturdy. Love the "hitch tightening" ball design so you don't have to buy a separate device to keep things steady. I also like that one key locks the hitch as well as the bikes. It is light enough that one person can attach and detach; very quick and easy. Prior to buying, I watched the videos for different racks and appreciate etrailer's input on each one's feature so I could pick out what would work best for us. WELL DONE. Also, found that with two 8 inch hooks screwed into studs, it hangs in our garage making it easily accessible (and we don't have to lift it over our heads.)
My wife and I have used this bike rack a lot over the past year. Having a rack that is easy to put on and remove from the car and is also easy to put on and remove bikes from makes us much more likely to ride our bicycles. After using it several times and getting my process down, it only takes about a minute to install it or remove it from the car and about the same amount of time to put on or take off two bikes. We have "women's" style frames without a top cross bar, so this carrier is great in that it holds the bikes only by the wheels. We have not had any problem with the bikes moving excessively while driving. This carrier is extremely well made and when installed properly feels very solid.
I can tell it’s a quality bike rack... the instructions were fairly clear but the [online video] made it a breeze. I have yet to drive with it on, but I can tell already it’s secure
This rack is great. The adjustable tilt feature is convenient. The price point is solid for the quality. The 4 star rating is simply because some of the plastic melted due to exhaust heat when the rack was in the bikeless up position. Küat warranty and customer service was great. They are replacing the hook. If you're thinking of this for a 2021 Forester, definitely get the Hi-lo adapter so that the hook doesn't sit in line with the exhaust.
This is a great product. A few of my friends have it and, after some research, I knew it would be purfect for me. I also ordered the etrailer e98912 hitch at the same time, We installed the hitch and bike rack based on etrailer videos and product instructions. All went smoothly. Plus, I want to express my appreciation to Tammie, the etrailer agend that guided me through the purchase process.
The bike rack seems very sturdy and durable and was easy to assemble. When I ordered it in July we, my wife and I, had hoped to have it for our vacation in late August but that didn’t happen because of Covid-19, we finally got it in mid-October. etrailer did keep me updated as I called several times and I do appreciate working with them. We’re hoping for one more warm weekend in October or November so we can go biking and try the bike rack out
I had waited a long time to get this Kuat rack and I am glad I did. The build quality is excellent and using the box as an assembly platform is a nice touch. It went together easily with 3 bolts and secures to the hitch very securely with little to no wobble once the adjustment knob is tightened. My last hitch rack used a threaded bolt to secure it to the hitch and that did an ok job to reduce sway but so far this method is much better. Loading bikes is easy and it holds then securely. I haven't used the security cable yet, other than to test it out, but like anything else I consider it more of a deterrent than anything else as I doubt I would leave my bikes loaded w/o being able to keep eyes on them. Overall this was a good purchase and etrailer was fantastic throughout the process as well. They offered an alternative when I ordered as this item was out of stock, but this is what I wanted so I was prepared to wait. Then to my surprise it shipped almost 2 months earlier than expected! They of course notified me when it was shipped and when it was delivered and made sure I had a contact at etrailer if I had any questions with the rack. Overall it was a great process and a great looking and functioning rack.
I’m 73. No problem getting it on and off the car. Easy to use. Many nice features and great quality. Several friends have purchased after seeing my rack in action
I can't imagine a better bike rack. It operates better than advertised.
My only complaint has nothing to do with the rack, but it blocks the cameras on the rear of my vehicle so I have to disable the rear auto brake. That can't be helped.
Your website was so helpful I knew exactly what I was getting. No surprises. The Kuat product is definitely very high quality so I look for many years of use. My favorite features are the light weigh (32#), anti wobble adjustment, and the striking finish. I may leave it on my SUV just for looks!
A pictures worth a thousand words! We love our Kuat racks!
I could not use this rack on the back of my 38' motorhome while also towing my Jeep Gladiator because it stuck out to far to allow safe towing radius. Eventually we sold the motorhome and only use this rack for 2 ebikes behind the Gladiator, where it works fine. Low rating reflects my disappointment in not being able to use this for original purpose.
The bike rack has worked well for me, haven’t had any problems after using it for a year. I like that’s light enough to easily carry it around and take it on and off.
Wow. E trailer delivered ahead of schedule which was awesome. That said the Kuat Sherpa 2.0 is cream of the crop. Actually the 2nd one I’ve purchased and again from e trailer. This is the lightest tray rack so I bought it “again” for my son. And it’s the simplest to use. I’ve got multiple friends who bought that same rack for the same reasons. Can’t go wrong with this for any reason.
After reviewing and researching the other manufacturers of a 2 bike rack, we decided on the Sherpa 2.0. It was easy enough to assemble, just follow the directions. We used it for the first time this morning on the back of my Outback and we were both pleased at how stable it was. Easy to mount our bikes and dismount. We plan to use it on our Mustang and my hubs '68 F100 as well. So far, very pleased with the performance and appearance. We purchased the black one for a 2' receiver.
Totally solid bike rack and simple to assemble. Love the "non rattle" mechanism and the integrated bike lock/cable.
We are very pleased with the Kuat Sherpa Rack. We really like the way that it tilts out of the way so we can still load/unload items from the back of our SUV. Shortly after receiving it, we hauled our bikes from Ohio to Florida and back, and it worked well.
We were also VERY pleased with the timely shipment of the rack. We knew it was backordered, but as soon as it came in, etrailer shipped it that same day, and it arrived quickly on the expected date. The videos and information online are very helpful as are the people who answer the phones at the company. Positive experience ordering both this item and the trailer hitch!
I just installed the Stealth hitch on my 2019 GTI. The installation video was mostly spot-on for how to do it, and the enclosed paper directions were helpful as well. That said, it was very difficult getting the bumper fascia off. A few small clips that were hidden snapped off, even as I pulled gently and used the trim panel tool as advised. Ditto for the T15 TORX clips underneath. A couple stripped and I had to get steel screws to replace them. Also,VERY challenging getting that last hidden T25 TORX screw. But it all turned out okay and the "stealth" feature of the hitch works perfectly. I love it!
I also bought the Kuat Sherpa 2 bike rack and that went together very easily. I like how streamline the Sherpa 2 is, the workmanship is excellent, and it works as advertised. I love how it tips back so you can get into the trunk! Sure beats the old bike rack I had that latched onto the hatch. Can't wait for my first trip into woods!
Assembly instructions pretty vague. Better illustrations would be very helpful.
Other than a few little snafus while attempting assembly, (put bolts in on wrong end), everything went together nicely. Directions could be a bit more precise, and parts should have identifying stickers with pointers or something to simplify trying to figure out what goes where, and in which direction. Might just be my super assembly skills. haha. Got it done, however - in about 30 minutes. Quality is great, looks good on car, and bike fits nicely. Very secure and sturdy. I'm in my 60's and I can easily get this rack onto the car, the bike on the rack, and open the back hatch with the bike loaded. Retirement-here I come!
eTrailer customer service is outstanding.
We have been very satisfied with our purchase. We have used it to transport our bike on long distance drives. It is easy to use, simple to install on the vehicle. Holds the bikes secure while driving. The rack was recommended by a friend. I would give the same recommendation.
Great bike rack for our CRV Honda, I had the dealership install the bar underneath the vehicle. The rest is so easy to install and stow when not needed. We have made several trips on the interstate for 8 hours or more and you really do not even notice the racks or bikes. We love the drop down lever which allows access to rear hatch. Also the security lock and cable will give you piece of mind when stopping at a restaurant to eat and not worry that your bikes and or rack will be stolen. The bikes are so easy to load and secure, and do not loosen up when on the road. We are very happy with our purchase!
