Fat Tire Bike Not Fitting Kuat Transfer V2

Updated 12/15/2025 | Published 12/28/2024

Question:

Hello, i have a kuat transfer bike rack and my fat bike does not seem to fit. The problems are: 1. The arm to attach the front tire seems not long enough to go over the wheel enough to secure it 2. The plastic attachment for the back wheel is too short Is there any kit that I can purchase to fit my fat bike ? Txs

Hi Eddy; it sounds like your fat tire bike might exceed the capabilities of your Kuat Transfer V2 #KU74FR. We do have the Phat Bike Adapter Kit for Kuat Bike Racks # APBK but that is just the straps. These would not solve the problem you're having with the arm and the cradle. I will say if the fat tire isn't sitting down inside the cradle but more on top that is normal.

This bike rack is designed to hold bikes with an 18" - 29" wheel diameter and up to a 50" wheelbase. I would double check the measurements on your bike to see if they are within these requirements. If the wheels or wheelbase are too large the only option would be to switch to another bike rack.

I attached a video below where we put a fat tire bike on a Transfer for your reference.

I am having same problem. 27.5 in wheels. Arm is too short to make it over the wheel.

Just got the strap kit for the Transfer (bought from a buddy) -- with 4.80x26 I had the same problem. If your rim diameter allows, let the tire pressure out until you can wriggle the arm over, lock it down (not TOO tightly), then add enough air to hold everything firm. I know it's a bit of a bother, but you can in/out a lot of air for the price of another style rack.
