Question:
There is one trailer hitch available that is confirmed to fit your 2014 Mazda MX-5 Miata Grand Touring as long as it does not have the Appearance Package. This is the Curt Class I Receiver Hitch # C11028. This Class I hitch features a 1-1/4 inch receiver opening and a tongue weight capacity of 200 pounds. Keep in mind that some fascia trimming is required for installation and the exhaust will need to be temporarily lowered. I have attached the written installation instructions that you can also take a look at. Please also note that Curt requires the use of stabilizing straps like # 18050 with non-trailer loads such as cargo carriers or a bike rack like what you will be using the hitch for. I have included a short video demonstration on this product so you can see exactly how it works. Then, when choosing a bike rack, you will just need to make sure that the rack is compaible with Class I trailer hitches. Also keep in mind that the most bikes a Class I hitch can handle with a carrier is 2. I recommend taking a look at the Kuat Transfer 2 Bike Platform Rack # KU74FR. This is a fantastic platform-style, Class I compatible carrier that can hold 2 bikes of up to 40 pounds each. The ratcheting hooks will hold your bike by the wheels with no frame contact and an easy to use foot pedal will allow you to tilt the rack back, with your bike still loaded, for easy rear cargo access on the vehicle. The carrier itself weighs just 47 pounds so you will be able to install and remove it with ease. I have attached a video demonstration on this bike rack so you can get a closer look at all of its features.
