If you were to use a 2" to 1-1/4" adapter like the Brophy Hitch Adapter part # HTAD or part # HT5R then the trailer hitch would have a reduced weight capacity by 50%. If this is enough for the weight of your bike rack and bikes then you will be good to go but otherwise you would need a new bike rack like the Kuat Transfer 2 Bike Platform Rack part # KU74FR which can be used in both 1-1/4" and 2" trailer hitches.
