Approved for use on cars, trucks, vans, SUVs, and motorhomes - not approved for fifth wheels or towable campers

This Curt bike rack makes it easy to carry 2 bikes on the back of your vehicle. The platform-style rack is easier to load than a hanging rack because you don't have to lift your bikes nearly as high to get them into place. Ratcheting hooks and wheel hoops accommodate 2 bikes of most shapes and sizes. The entire rack tilts down for easy access to your cargo area, even while the bikes are loaded. And you can choose between 2 different ways to fold the rack up for storage on your vehicle when it's not in use.

Ratcheting Frame Hooks

Each center mast has 2 ratcheting hooks that move up and down independently of one another. This allows you to carry up to 2 bikes of different heights or with different frame styles. The hooks firmly grip your bikes by the top tubes, and they are cushioned to protect your bike frames from scratches and scuffs. Once you slide the hooks into position, just lock them in place.

Adjustable Wheel Hoops

Curt platform bike rack cradles

Sturdy, adjustable wheel hoops let you carry bikes of different lengths. Use the built-in knobs to loosen the hoops. Then slide the hoops to the desired position along the platform base and tighten them into place.

Tilting and Folding Design

Curt platform bike rack in tilted position

The entire rack can be tilted down - away from your vehicle - so that you can easily access your rear cargo area, even when your bikes are loaded. Just pull the pin at the base of the rack to tilt it down.

Curt platform bike rack storage options

There are 2 ways that you can fold up the rack to store it on your vehicle when it's not in use. Option 1 lets you fold the cradle arms up towards the upright mast. Simply remove the pins and fold up the arms. Then replace the pins to secure the arms in the upright position. Option 2 lets you fold the rack up against the rear of your vehicle. First, lower the center mast by removing its pin and clip at the base and then fold the mast down forward. Then remove the pins from the base of the rack and fold up the carrier.

Anti-Rattle Hitch Pin and Adapter Sleeve

Curt platform bike rack anti-rattle hitch pin

This rack comes with an anti-rattle hitch pin. The threaded pin holds the bike rack in your hitch, and it reduces noise and movement of the rack inside your hitch. An adapter sleeve is included as well, which allows the rack to fit either a 1-1/4" or a 2" hitch receiver. Because this bike rack has a threaded shank, it is not compatible with standard hitch locks.

Curt 2 Bike Platform Rack - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches - Frame Mount - Tilting - C18085

Average Customer Rating:  4.6 out of 5 stars   (204 Customer Reviews)

The rack carries the bicycle safely and securely, as advertised. However if some other method had been provided instead of pins that must be removed and reinserted to tilt the rack or fold the rack, I would have given the rack a higher rating. The pins work ok, but this feature could have been more user friendly. Also, I was concerned that I could carry my Bike Friday NWT, a bike with a very low crossbar and 20-inch wheels. I submitted the question of fit to etrailer and received a prompt assurance the the rack would work. It does, however the hoops that capture the wheels allow the wheels to settle deeper than if the bike had larger wheel (26" or more). My bike has fenders and I am planning to trim about an inch or so from the rear end of the front fender so that it doesn't hit the hoop. The technical team at etrailer are excellent. I have especially valued their installation videos when purchasing other products. etrailer gets the full 5 stars.

Happy it arrived earlier than expected. Assembly was easy. I installed just the inside platform since I only have one bike. Took bike on 250-mile drive to the Anthills trail in Houston, TX and had no issues. Over the engine and road noise, I could occasionally hear the rack creaking as it bounced up and down on rough roads. I'm using the Draw-Tite Sportframe Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class I - 1-1/4" along with the Curt Cam Buckle Stabilizing Strap for Hitch-Mounted Accessories - 61" x 1". The stabilizing strap does provide peace of mind. I'll probably get something to strap the wheels to the wheel hoops in the near future as an extra precaution.

- C18085

This bike rack is perfect for carrying my bikes to the bike trail it's very easy to put the bike on and off and very sturdy it doesn't rattle or shake much on bumpy road. and thanks to Etrailer quick shipping I got the bike rack within 3 days of purchased and it's free shipping I love this bike rack great product.

after using it for a year still like the first day I got it. didnt have any issue, used twice every week.

I received bike rack and put it together. The issue I had was the locking arm, long had a defective lock. The key wouldn’t turn, and the lock set came out of the assembly. Everything else was fine. It would be nice if this could be replaced. Thanks

I installed this rack on a 2015 BMW X3 with a Curt 2" receiver. The installation went OK except that the spring retaining clips in several cases need to opened with a screwdriver vs by hand. Here are some of my comments. First is the retaining bolt was very difficult to install with the wrench provided (see Photo) you can not turn the bolt very far with any wrench. I used a driver and a 19mm socket. I then bought one to have in the car. Second, our bikes have different cross bar heights, so it was not possible to put the larger bike on the inside closest to the vehicle (see Photo). The clip the holds the bikes in place could not go down enough with the larger bike on the inside so switching them solved that issue. Third the draw bar portion does not have a stop to help line up the holes for the retaining bolt. This was solved by putting orange tape on the bar to help with alignment. A good feature is that with the bike retaining clips all the way down the back hatch can be opened without any adjustment to the rack. Also the rack did not impact the foot opening switch for the back hatch. The rack did very well in our first test drive.

It is working great! We took it on a week long trip and it performed great. The 2 reciever keeps the rack a lot more stable than the 1-1/4

purchased C11550 Curt Hitch and C18085 Curt 2 Bike Platform Rack. Both are exactly what we needed to haul our bikes. The C11550 Hitch had a defect, the folks at etrailer were great and sent out a replacement ASAP at that went on with no problems, very happy with the products and customer service from etrailer.

- C18085

Have loved the rack for our bikes. Only problem is getting a replacement pin that holds it to the hitch on the car. We traded in the car the hitch was on and I left the pin in the hitch. Not easy to just find the screw/pin to replace but have it in the works. Love the rack though.

- C18085

So after one year of use, I have to say that this bike rack is worth every penny. It is the most thought trough design possible. Clearly the designers use their own product themselves. This is so easy to use, stores in a small space, makes bringing our bikes a fun easy add on to any weekend. I am glad I picked this bike rack, I would order again, but don't think I ever will need to, as it seems to be well made. I highly recommend it to people who want an easy, quality, bike rack. I have had cheaper bike racks, and again I am so glad I picked this one. Worth every penny.

- C18085

Received the rack and installed on the”06”CRV and loaded the bikes all good. Afterwards tried it out on our “01” Super Crew with same result. Having the option using either vehicle “nice”. Thanks again, Ron W

Still working fine when needed, thanks

I made two different purchases from etrailer and George J. I am extremely pleased with my trailer hitch receiver. It is exactly what I need to transport our bikes from point A to B. I also bought a bike rack that I am extremely happy with. It is sturdy and easy to use. The etrailer website is very user friendly and I appreciate the videos that help me get a clear picture of various products. The company communicates clearly and keeps me updated on shipping and delivery and they follow through on their timelines. I will definitely use them again!

- C18085

This is a sturdy and safe bike rack. We've used it for long and short drives to bike paths, and love it! I have a 2016 VW Jetta with a dealer-installed tow-hitch which the rack attaches to, and we've had no issues. The rack holds the 2 bikes securely on high speed roads, as well as on lower speed off-road byways with gravel and unexpected rough terrain. The "tilting" feature comes n very handy for trunk access. I highly recommend this Curt 2 Bike Platform Rack.

- C18085

Stoked i found once if the last available ones country wide! And it's the same brand as my current hitch. Had them deliver it to my work without issue. Ive ordered trailer locks, racks, j racks, hitches, receivers, and now noke racks from y'all and i continue to be impressed with the service and quality of the equipment. Thanks!!!

- C18085

It was heavy and difficult to mount on our car. I liked it’s heavy weight initially because we have heavy bikes and I thought it meant stability. However we mounted our bikes for a trip and shortly after our departure one of the bikes fell off. I am probably partially to blame but the design of the racks contributed to the loss. The rack would be improved if it included some way to strap the tires to the rack. Straps perhaps. It was the bike trip from the devil the second bike and rack were destroyed when we hit a deer going 70 mph. No fault of the rack. If you purchase this rack buy some rope to wrap the tires to the rack. It remains heavy and difficult to mount on the car.

- C18085

It's a fair priced quality bike rack. It is easy to assemble, fast shipping & clear instructions. The only thing that I was concerned with is it seems to sag a little on the right side when it's loaded (I would've gave it 5 stars if it wasn't for this issue). Maybe, I need to strap it to the receiver hooks. I was a little disappointed that it was made in china unlike my curt reciever. I guess that's how it is in a globalized society.

- C18085

Thank God I finally found a Hitch Mount Bike Rack that actually clears the spare tire on my Jeep Wrangler!

- C18085

Ok! This review is preliminary, I haven't actually hauled bicycles with it yet, but everything up to that point is pretty great. Got it yesterday afternoon, it's a heavy item to ship, and while a lot of the packaging had given its life to protect the merchandise contained within, there were no scratches, dings, etc. on the rack itself. Easy assembly. Good instructions. The rack seems well designed and constructed. Adjustments and bike fitting are pretty simple. I do plan on using some fail-safe straps in case the frame clamps should loosen during transit, but that's just me. After a few trips I'll know if it's necessary or not. Nice rack!

- C18085

I love the locking mechanism on this rack, and frequently need to readjust things for kids and adult bikes. This is a strong and flexible rack. I did add a stabilizer strap that reduces shaking, connecting the post to the hatchback. Great combination with the Draw-tight receiver.

- C18085

The Curt bike rack is well made and very sturdy. I did have one of the ratchet bars loosen up slightly while transporting a bike ( even while locked) not sure what happened there. No harm. Overall very happy with purchase of the rack.

- C18085

Just happy to finally have the rack I wanted. Assembly and hookup were a breeze and the first use went without issue. Even with the lock, there is some minimal sway, but nothing concerning. Great rack for both our bikes. The tilt away from the Forresters hatch is perfect.

- C18085

Good functionality for a reasonable price. It was a good recommendation from the etrailer sales person. The assembly instructions could be better. I also am unsure if you had two bikes that we the same size you could run into issues with the placement of the wheel gages. Also: I don't think I would want to swing the rack down with two bikes on it. Otherwise, well designed, good value.

- C18085

It fit the 2" receiver hitch nicely without any slopping around, and adjusted to fit our bikes securely, one is a women's bike with a low bar. Haven't tried it on the road yet but my test drive looked good.

- C18085

Hitch works great. I love the built in locking system. Adjusted fine for women's bike and my new e- bike. Shipping was quick and it mounts securely! I love getting things fast and ordered filled correctly by etrailer!

- C18085

When I first received my carrier there was a piece that wasn't working correctly. I emailed customer service and they sent a new part to me the same week. I have had it about a month now and love it's convenience and ease of use. I am a single lady in my sixties and I easily load and unload my bike and fold up and down the carrier. It's great to be able to travel to new trails!

It’s still awesome! I love the flexibility of the positions I can use as well as, the ease of putting it on or changing positions.

- C18085

The product came on time and was well packaged with all the material needed. My wife and I put it together in no time. It appears to be well built and I love the locking padded hold downs and the tip down feature all for a great price. I may buy some Velcro straps for the tires but really, I don't think they will go anywhere. I'm also going to look into a lock for the hitch pin. We will be taking a trip soon and I will know more then but to start, I'm very satisfied.

My bike rack is doing great. Its lighter than some of the more expensive brand but has much of the same options like lockable hold downs that ratchet so they dont loosen up and the tip down option so I have access to my hatch. Still using it and going on a trail ride next week.

  • Curt 2 Bike Platform Rack with Anti-Rattle Lock Pin vs Swagman Chinook
To answer your first question: Yes, the Curt 2 Bike Platform Rack, product # c18085, is a good alternative to the Swagman Chinook, part # S64683. I've linked a review of the Curt rack that we have. This rack can fit both 1-1/4 inch and 2 inch receivers, so it will work with your hitch. The Chinook does have a few features that put it above the Curt, such as the sliding wheel cradles and the dedicated anti-rattle lock pin. Still, the Curt is a good option. And, one of those shortcomings...
