If you are planning to carry an occasional second bike, I recommend the Saris Freedom - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches # SA4412B. The carrier weight of the rack is only 22.5 pounds. In addition, the Freedom attaches at the frame to avoid damaging the fenders during transport. Even with your step-thry frame, you do not need to buy a bike frame adapter bar due to the independently-adjusting cradles. As far as a hitch receiver that is compatible with the Curt 2, I recommend the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" # 76245.
