Am I Safe to Use the Malone Runway HM2 Bike Rack for 2 Bikes with My 39 Pound Bikes?

Question:

I just had a question about weight limits for some hitch mount bike racks. May be silly but my concern is how close to the limit my bikes are, theyre 39 pounds each, if the rack can accommodate 45 pounds each, will that be okay? 6 pounds isnt that far from max weight is why Im worried. Thanks!

Not silly at all, an I am glad you wrote in. The Malone Runway HM2 Bike Rack for 2 Bikes - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches - Frame Mount # MPG2149 has a weight capacity of 33 pounds per bike, so it will not work for you.

Instead you will want the Curt 2 Bike Platform Rack - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches - Frame Mount - Tilting # C18085 as it has a weight capacity of 45 pounds per bike.

What kind of bikes will you be using the rack for?

Okay cool thanks! I was also looking into the one of the Curt 2 racks, item #C18085 Same weight limit so id imagine it would also be just fine. I have a full suspension enduro bike I'll be carrying

@Tyler Wow, that is a really nice bike! I just changed my original answer. I just double checked the weight capacity of the Malone # MPG2149 and it actually has a weight capacity of 33 pounds, so that would put you 6 pounds over. I would have sworn that one was 45 pounds. The Curt 2 Bike Platform Rack - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches - Frame Mount - Tilting # C18085 is going to be the better option for you as it is 45 pounds per bike. I am sorry I did not catch that at first.
