Availability of 1-1/4" to 2" Adapter With Anti-Rattle for Bike Rack

Updated 10/23/2025 | Published 10/21/2025

Question:

Im looking for a 1 1/4 to 2 inch adapter and a locking anti rattle pin. Most have a solid shanks, so most locking pins dont work. What do you suggest? Im using it with a 2 in bike rack Id like to secure.

Hey Robert! An anti-rattle hitch pin won't work since none of the adapters will be threaded and, as you already found out, they don't have a hollow shank. What you can use instead is the Roadmaster Quiet Hitch for 1-1/4" Trailer Hitches # RM-061-125 along with a locking hitch pin # TS57VR.

This combination will allow you to secure it with a lock and cut out the extra play from the adapter and a bike rack. For an adapter you can use the Trailer Hitch Receiver Adapter 1-1/4" to 2" Hitch # e43YR or # e93YR.

What kind of bike rack do you have?

Kuat piston pro, why do you ask? Thanks for the information, I'll probably follow your recommendations.

@RobertM some bike racks have restrictions like needing a certain distance from the end of the receiver to the hitch pin hole to work so we try to catch that if we can before you find out the adapter won't fit.
