Question:
I have a 2020 Mazda cx3 with a 1 1/4 hitch. I want to transport a mobility scooter with a total weight of 105.5 lbs. Several questions: 1. Can I use a hitch receiver adaptor part e43YR 1 1/4 to 2”to mount the carrier. 2. Looking at the install manual item 07494 can I install the carrier without using item 9 the folding bar My thought is to keep the carrier closer to the back of the vehicle. The one down side I can see is the carrier may be too close to the pavement. 3. Do I need an anti rattle hitch? 4. If my mobility scooter blocks the cars turn signals, do you have a kit that includes 2 taillights and a lighted license plate bracket. 4. If I use the tilt function referring to question 2 could I see the taillights and license plate with the carrier in the up position. Hopefully I have thought about all the possibilities. Thanks Chuck

Hello again Chuck; if you want to carry that mobility scooter on your hitch you will need to find a cargo carrier that fits a 1-1/4" receiver without an adapter. We don't have any with a ramp but there may be some out there that will work.
If you use the Trailer Hitch Receiver Adapter # e43YR, or anything else like it, you will reduce the capacity of your hitch by 50%. I'm sure you have a hitch like the Curt # C11418 with a tongue weight capacity of 200 lbs. Cut it in half and you can't even carry the scooter, plus you have the weight of the cargo carrier.
If you can find a cargo carrier that will work with the setup, I do recommend adding the Roadmaster Quiet Hitch for 1-1/4" Trailer Hitches # RM-061-125 to cut down on extra movement. For lights you can put the Curt Auxiliary LED Indicator Lights # C53201 on pretty much any cargo carrier and plug it into the 4-way on your vehicle. If you don't already have a 4-way you can add one using the # C56300.
