Distance Between Bolt Holes on etrailer Hitch for 2018 Toyota RAV4

Question:

I need a physical measurement to confirm. Ive ordered a supposed compatible hitch from 2 different vendors and they did not fit. My hole to hole dimension is 42 3/4. Im hesitant to order without someone taking a physical measurement.. The problem Ive had is that the hitches have been too wide. In both cases, the hitches were supposed to be compatible with my vehicle. I dont want to go through this again. Is it possible for someone to physically take a measurement of the hitch?

The distance between the # e98864 bolt holes closest to the bumper on center is 41.7" and the other set of holes closest to the engine is 42.23". There are a lot of reviews on this hitch and some other RAV4 owners have faced a similar problem. Hitches are designed to flex so in many cases they were able to move it into position with some extra force while others made some modifications. Unless you want to have a custom hitch fabricated it looks like you will have to do the same to install one on your vehicle.

I understand that probably isn't the solution you were looking for but at this point I don't see any hitch manufacturer going back to make an alternate hitch for the 2006-2018 RAV4 that sometimes has different bolt hole measurements. I'm sure the other two hitches you tried used the same measurements since that was established as the standard for all RAV4 models in this timeframe.
