Hello, neighbors. Steven here with etrailer.com. Today, we're looking at the Weigh Safe 180 Hitch with a four-inch drop, and it's for a 2 1/2 by 2 1/2 inch hitch shank. Now folks, this ball mount with the included balls let you hook up your trailer to your towed vehicle, and the shank simply slides into the receiver and you would use an existing hitch pin or a locking hitch pin that you probably already have. If you don't have one, we sell 'em separately here at etrailer.com and you can find them on our website. Now that would be a 5/8th inch hitch pin hole.
Now you've got a 2 5/16th inch hitch ball rated 18,500 pounds of gross towing weight or a 2 inch hitch ball rated at 8,000 pounds. Now folks, again, the adjustable height is super easy to manipulate and move up or down. I'll show you that in a second. I wanna start with some quick dimensions though, as far as I'm gonna go center of the hitch ball to the center of both hitch pin holes. So, starting with the closest center of the hitch pin hole to the center of the ball, I got 8 1/2 inches.
And if I go out to the farthest center of the hole, to the center of the hitch pin or hitch ball, I get 9 5/8th inches. Now if I spin this around, in case you're curious, the center of this hitch pin hole to the back of the shank is 3 inches. And the center of the closest one to the back, to the back is 1 7/8th inches. So once again, folks, you can do a 4-inch drop or flip it and do a 5-inch rise. It's very simple to flip the ball over if you need to.
Let's say, in this case, I got a 2 5/16ths but I wanna tow a different trailer that has a 2 inch ball. Well, all I gotta do is take off this protective dust cover here. I've got a nice set of dual tubular keys here, so it's super hard to pick that kinda lock. And I'll just simply insert that into my lock pin here, rotate it and pull out the dual pin locking pin. And lemme see if I can do this without dropping it.
So, I'll just simply take this, flip it over. Yes, it's that simple. And in this case, I've now got the locking pin on this side, so we're gonna go ahead and flip this over and get this locked back into place. (key rattling) So, there we go. So that simple, just simply lock it in place, put my dust cover back on, and I am ready to go. Now, I've got this a little higher than I had before, but that's okay. So again, in this case, I went a little higher and I switched over to a 2 inch hitch ball. Again, the balls here are nice heavy duty steel, but they are chrome plated. So to work about rust, corrosion, that kind of stuff, while the shank and the head assembly here is all a solid 6061 t6 billet aluminum. So, that's gonna be lightweight. It's gonna give you a nice durability. All the holes here give you increments, up or down in 1 inch increments. So again, a max drop of 4 inches, a max rise of 5. After 3 months one of the trailer chains bonds against the hitch while taking a shape turn and bent the key to flip the receiver ball. So we are basically stuck with a 2 5/16 receiver since it cannot be opened and flipped. Aluminum is nice but weak at the same time.
Work horse and light weight. Comes with key locks keyed alike for hitch and ball. Stainless steel ball ensures durability for towing long term.

Very solid and beautifully finished. Fits well on my 2016 Ram 2500 4x4, with the newer 2-1/2" receiver, allowing the exact height necessary to level my toy hauler. Ball mount is packaged in foam to ensure it is pristine when it arrives.
Got the locking dual pin for it, as well as the BOLT locks for hitch and coupler, so none of this pretty stuff walks away. Very happy with the whole setup.

Good product feels very sturdy. My only critique is that it has too much play causing a lot of rattling. The manufacturer should have a tightening bolt so that after installation the two components tighten up and there’s no play.

Great product. Craftsmanship is top notch.
Easy to use and very sturdy built. My only complaint is the standard coated Balls rusted pretty quickly and look bad. I Should have went with the upgraded stainless steel. Also the salt from 1 winter has left some corrosion on the aluminum of the hitch and the sticker fell off. None of these things affect the function, but i wish it would have stayed looking as nice as it did when it was new.
Nicest hitch I have seen yet. The machining is precise with very little movement between parts. I bought this hitch because of the load rating and after inspecting it I have no doubt that it is rated conservatively. I will definitely show it off and spread the word. Great company with excellent communication as well. Even contacted me on a Sunday about my shipping address. Do not hesitate to do business with these guys. They will not disappoint.
