Features to know about

Add Serious Towing Capability: Class III Strength with 2" Receiver

Whether it’s a small camper, boat, or utility trailer, this hitch is built to handle the job. With a maximum gross trailer weight of 8,000 lbs and 800 lbs tongue weight, it’s ready for consistent towing. When used with a weight distribution system, those ratings climb to 10,000 lbs GTW and 1,000 lbs TW. The 2" x 2" receiver opening works with the most common ball mounts, bike racks, and cargo carriers so you can hit the road with whatever you need to haul.

Install It Yourself in the Driveway: Bolt-On Design, No Welding Required

You don’t need special tools or a lift to get this hitch installed. The fully welded design bolts right onto the frame using existing mounting points—no drilling or welding necessary. The precision, robotic welds ensure everything lines up for an easy fit and solid connection. It’s the kind of project you can tackle with basic tools and a bit of time on your driveway.

Built to Last Through Years of Use: Durable Steel with Powder Coat Finish

The sturdy square-tube construction gives this hitch dependable strength and stability under load. A gloss black powder coat sits over a protective base layer to resist rust and corrosion from road grime, salt, and weather exposure. That finish keeps it looking clean and holding strong through countless hauls and seasons.

Keep It Looking Clean Under the Bumper: Concealed Cross Tube Design

The concealed cross tube keeps most of the hitch tucked up under the vehicle for a cleaner look that blends into the bumper line. You still get full access to the receiver and safety chain loops without a bulky bar showing across the back. It’s a practical setup that looks right at home once installed.

Receiver was a bolt in as was stated by etrailer. There is a bracket missing on the receiver that the spare tire support bolts to. I will have to configure something to hold the bracket. Other than the bracket it took 30 minutes on a lift with impact tools. Hand tools will take probably another hour.

I called Curt about your concern with the spare tire bracket. The bracket is not necessary in the support of the spare tire since the cable tightens when the spare tire is raised back into position. You should not have any issues with support of the spare tire without this bracket. It also does not act as a heat shield so there is no problem there.

This product works great on my 2016 Chevy Colorado. I would highly recommend removing the bumper first and having a second person assist when installing the receiver. The mounting brackets had to be widened minimally with a mallet. Overall, relatively easy to install. etrailer staff is very friendly and helpful.

After a year of use, I am VERY happy with this product and would highly recommend it.

Excellent! Still works great 2 years later. Zero issues to date.

My Trailer hitch did not fit on my truck! The extra piece of metal on the passenger side prevented me from moving it in the last bolt position. I took the whole original bumper frame off only to have it not fit. So very frustrating. Shoddy work there. I have a chevy CO 2020. I bolted it on anyways, I hope the bolts hold. now I can't stand on the passenger side bumper to get into the truck bed because its unsupported. It was really hard to put on. Dont listen to them.

It sounds like it is possible that the hitch side bracket is flexed. How far off is the bolt hole from the hole in the frame? Have you tried moving the bracket back into position? We do have an FAQ that could help.

The hitch arrived very quickly, there was some slight damage but it was fixed quickly and easily. I installed the hitch this morning, everything went very smoothly. Installation took me longer than an hour but I'm kind of old and a little slow plus I was working on my back with only hand tools. I really like all the videos that are available, I found ones for my exact year and model truck. I also purchased the wiring kit, but I will install it later. I am very pleased with etrailer and their products.

I like the hitch and I am glad that I installed it, but with the way things were last year, I did not get to use it. Hoping this year will be better.

by:

The hitch appears to be solid. The box it came in was destroyed. The mounting brackets were bent in and I had to repaint multiple areas on the hitch.

by:

The hitch went on without any extra effort. The hitch was exactly to specs. The whole project took about 1 1/2 hours.

by:

This product was listed as OEM part for a 2016 Chevy Colorado and fit like a glove. Excellent quality and great directions. Thanks E-Trailer!

by:

Good site easy navigation and a good assortment of parts for vehicles

by:

Product looks good and fits perfect. It was slightly bent during shipping, I was able to fix and install. Also arrived on time.

by:

I would have liked to see the tow hitch arrive in something other than plastic wrap, but as for the fit and finish quality, it is excellent. Heavy duty and fit exactly as planned.

by:

It was exactly what I was needing and am very pleased.
Thanks!!

Fast shipping

by:

Super fast shipping, easy to install, no drilling or hammering to fit. Easy, easy installation even for the not so mechanically inclined.

by:

Perfect fit and arrived fast! The second person was beneficial to raising the hitch level, and it definitely took longer with hand tools but was manageable. Thoroughly pleased.

by:

Super easy to install. High quality hitch overall. Added a B&W adjustable ball hitch and I couldn’t be happier. 10/10 would buy again

by:

Absolutely love my new curt trailer hitch! The response time was great! Package and trailer hitch was packed great! Installation instructions were very easy to follow. My only criticism would be the pictures were hard to see. Thanks for a great product!

by:

Love Etrailer, beautiful hitch. Fits my truck just like the factory one would, looks good, and has a healthy weight rating. No drilling or welding was nice, it fits in factory holes with factory hardware. The detail of the web site is incredible. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 was that I felt it could have been packaged a little better. When it arrived, the hitch had ripped through the box and the mounting ears were bent which made it much more tedious to mount than it should have been. But I got it on there and it still ended up looking and working great. I would buy from them again.

by:

I wanted this hitch to put my bicycle rack on my Colorado. Maybe pit my dirt bike carrier on it later. No big towing. Beyond having to build a simple jig to keep the hitch from rolling over during installation, the unit installed well, despite some warnings in earlier posts of width problems. My unit slipped right between the bumper plates and frame rails as it should. Immediately put to work. Thumbs up to etrailer for quick shipping and a good product! Thanks!

by:

I have a 2019 Chevy Colorado this is what it looks like after getting rear-ended at around 30 MPH is my guess. The hitch preformed very well in my opinion though damage to the truck was extensive "Needs a new frame". I definitely will purchase another one this is pretty much the best aftermarket hitch available I think.

by:

I didn't have any trouble with the installation. The hitch is perfect, it bolted right to my truck with no issues. I took this picture after I drove it, and the hitch is all dirty.

The receiver still looks good on my truck.

by:

Perfect fit, I was alittle disappointed with the packaging. When it arrived the high points of the hitch were unprotected and caused some minor scuffing. I would have done 5 stars if the packaging was alittle protective.

by:

Excellent customer service, they guided me all the way in order to get the hitch I was looking for. The installation was super easy also. I recommend etrailer to all my family and friends. Thanks again.

It is great, no complains and working like it was brand new.

by:

Perfect fit for my 2022 Chevrolet Colorado. No adjustments needed. I installed this hitch receiver all by myself taking my time. It took about two hours as I don’t have a lift and had to go from side to side under the truck. I also purchased the Hopkins Multi-Tow 7-Way Blade and 4-Way Flat Trailer Connector - Chevrolet/GMC which took me the longest having to strip and connect all the wires. This was a simple project for a diyer (me).

After a year of use it is still working perfectly and I use it all the time.

by:

The hitch I ordered came on time in great shape. It's heavier duty than I expected which is great. I ordered a wiring harness which came in the same box.
I just ordered the plug that fits in the bumper. Haven't installed this yet but everything looks straight forward. etrailer is one of the easiest companies I have delt with and will recommend them to anyone looking for trailer hitches or parts

by:

Great fit for my 2017 Chevy Colorado! Definitely a bear to install, if you don’t know what you are doing and following a video, but it is possible with extra help.

  • Class III Trailer Hitch Recommendation for 2020 Chevy Colorado
We have great trailer hitch options for your 2020 Chevy Colorado, but all of them would be considered Class III. The hitch I'd recommend is the Curt # C13176 as it's made in the USA, has a hidden crosstube which makes it a bit less visible, and has plenty of towing capacity at 8,000 lbs trailer weight. I attached an install video for this hitch for you to check out as well.

There is only one difference between the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C13176 and etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e98909 that fit your 2020 Chevrolet Colorado, which is the finish. The Curt trailer hitch has a glossy black finish while the etrailer hitch has a matte black finish; other than that everything is equal, such as their 6,000 lb towing/900 lb tongue weight capacities, as well as the installation. • Universal 5th Wheel Rail Kit for GMC Canyon
It is correct that no 5th wheel hitch makers offer 5th wheel installation kits for a GMC Canyon and the same is true for the Chevy Colorado, and for the same reason, which is bed size and bed rail height. Since most 5th wheels weigh more than 5500-lbs the auto makers had little incentive to develop the kind of custom 5th wheel kits made for Silverados and Sierras. The best pickup for a 5th wheel is always going to be a long bed, and usually at least a 3/4-ton. Both the Canyon and Colorado...
