OK

by:

Product is great shipping was horrible. My receiver was hanging out of the box on arrival. It was scratched but not affecting function.

by:

Solid and high quality. Easy to install with provided bolts, but had to cut a little bit of the plastic bumper to make it fit.

by:

Products fit perfect. Good instructions. No problems.
Good price as well. Shipped on time...

by:

Another home run with a etrailer hitch install. Bolted right up like you would hope.

by:

Was just what I expected

by:

Received bent

by:

Heavy duty! Well engineered. Avoided any conflicts with the muffler, exhaust pipe and spare tire. Took about an hour because I didn't read the instructions until it was on.

by:

Instructions in the box said (and showed) to "sandwich" the muffler mount between the driver's side frame rail and the hitch... which would result in an uneven and unstable hitch mount (with hitch bolted directly to frame rail on the passenger side).
Instructions available online correctly said and showed to bolt hitch directly to rail on both sides.

by:

Excellent fit. Strong quality strength in design. Clean welds. All brackets and bolt holes were spot on.

by:

Make sure your mounting tabs are square with the frame. Mine were bent in transit I assume. Knocked back square with a sledge hammer while standing on bar.

by:

Item came bent and couldn't be mounted as delivered. eTrailer said it was "normal flex" and wouldn't admit that there was something wrong in either their production or shipping process. Photos show left and right sides compared to a square placed on the main cross-tube. I took a sledge hammer to it and it straightened enough to mount it, but shouldn't have had to. I'll save money and go elsewhere next time.

by:

The hitch and build quality is great. The price was also just and better than many universal type hitches. Why I didn’t rate higher was because the two mount ends get exposed during shipping & the paint gets rubbed off. After repainting them, i realized the one end was bent. A few whacks with a mini sledge fixed it but it would have sucked if it was worse.

by:

They sent me No wiring harness. How was I to know you have to ask for that. It's essentially required by law because you can't tow anything without tailights and, Obviously, you're not going to have any tailights without a harness to hook them up to.

by:

perfect fit easy install

2012 Volvo XC90

I have a 2012 xc90 and the 2011 hitch fits perfectly, but it effects my back up sensors a little annoying

by:

Amazing value! Great piece of kit!
Very
well made and simple to install. Comes with hardware and instructions.
This is a fraction of the cost of the a factory receiver. Attaches to the factory mounting points. And has a higher tow rating than the factory hitch receiver. The factory receiver is a hideaway, but you sacrifice towing capacity.
This, though not a hideaway, is pretty discreet and has better towing capacity.

I did have the luxury of using a lift during my install, and did my brakes at the same time. Removal of the rear tires isn't necessary to install this hitch receiver.

One year later: Still doing well. I pulled a 6x12 dual axle U-Haul trailer from South Carolina to Florida, about an 8.5 hour drive. Everything went really well. This receiver is well made and handles everything weve thrown at it, so far. Highly recommended for a 1st Gen XC90.

by:

The hitch is heavy duty and fit perfectly as advertised. I also bought the bed extension adapter and I turned my SUV into a truck. etrailer has great products and great people! I'm a customer for life.

2005 Volvo XC90

This is a beefy hitch receiver that works great and is much stronger than some of the more flimsy competitors. Installation took a little effort on my 2005 Volvo XC90, but very doable.

  • Best Trailer Hitch for a 2004 Volvo XC70
I do have a trailer hitch receiver that will fit your 2004 Volvo XC70 but it has a 1-1/4" receiver tube opening, not a 2" receiver tube opening. They do not make one with such for your Volvo and the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 13559 that you referenced will not fit. The correct trailer hitch I recommend for you is the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C12318 which as previously mentioned has a 1-1/4" receiver tube opening. The 1-1/4" receiver tube opening however can still do mostly...

  • Can Trailer Hitch from 2010 Volvo XC60 Be Used on 2012 XC90?
We do have a hitch fit for the 2012 Volvo XC90, but unfortunately the 2010 Volvo XC60 and and a 2012 XC90 use different hitches. For the 2012 XC90, I'd recommend the Curt Class IIl hitch, part # 13559. If you'll be towing with the hitch, you'll also need a trailer wiring harness, part # 118411, a # C45010 ball mount and for a trailer ball, use # 40038 for a 1-7/8 or # 63845 for a 2 inch ball.

  • Best Hitch Option For My 2008 Volvo XC90
Hey Randy, The 2 hitches offered for your 2008 Volvo XC90 are very similar with 1 main difference. The Curt # 13559 and the etrailer # e45KR are going to offer the same 350lb tongue weight capacity and 3,500lb towing capacity. In terms of what they are capable of, it is the same. The one main difference between these hitches is the type of finish on them. The etrailer hitch features a matte black finish while the Curt hitch offers a glossy black finish. In my opinion the matte black finish...

  • Is Curt or etrailer Hitch Easier to Install on a 2008 Volvo XC90
When it comes to the installation, both the Curt # 13559 and etrailer # e45KR hitches for your 2008 Volvo XC90 are the exact same. I recommend going with the etrailer because it has a matte black finish that helps it blend in with black trim on your vehicle and also helps to hide any scratches that might occur from road debris. To complete your towing setup you also need the T-One Wiring # 118411 to operate the lights on the trailer (use mounting brackets # 18144 and # C57202 to secure...

Hey Ryan, The Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver # 75152 is on extended backorder with no expected in-stock date so it's harder to find on the site to prevent people from purchasing it and then being disappointed that they have to wait forever. The etrailer # e45KR and Curt # 13559 are the only two options that we currently have available. These have a 2" receiver tube opening and a 3,500lb GTW/350TW capacity, which is likely lower than the capacity of your XC90. Depending on what you're...

  • Curt or Draw Tite Trailer Hitch Recommendation for Carrying Cargo Carrier with 2013 Volvo XC90
For a cargo carrier application the Draw Tite hitch part # 75152 that you referenced would be the better choice. This has the higher 500 lb tongue weight capacity which is the correct figure to use for a cargo carrier. Weight distribution capacity is when you use a weight distribution hitch. Which can't be used with a cargo carrier. Hidden Hitch is no longer made, but they were made by the same company as Draw Tite so they were the same hitch. • Mangled Trailer Hitch Bolt Hole on Volvo XC90
The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # 13559 for your 2008 Volvo XC90 may need you to use some spray lube and a tube brush like # 814092 to loosen gunk that may have found its way into your weld nut. If the weld nut threading is too mangled due to crossthreading, you can use a larger thread tap and a larger grade 5 bolt compatible with that new threading for the installation.

The correct hitch for carrying a bike rack with your 2006 Volvo XC90 would be the Curt Hitch part # 13559. I did go out to the warehouse and found the hitch itself measures 44-3/4" long x 12-1/4" deep x 9" high. This is a fit for US versions of 2003 - 2014 Volvo XC90 so I am unsure if it will fit your vehicle if you purchased it across seas.
