The Curt vertical receiver adapter, part # C45013 is designed to work only with the Curt Stealth Hitch, but it might possibly work with other vertical receivers. We currently don't offer a vertical hitch receiver, only an adapter.
The crucial dimension will be distance from the center of the hitch pin hole on the vertical tube to the end of the receiver. If this distance is more than 7/8 of an inch, the Curt adapter # C45013 will not work for you. See the diagram to the right.
If you decide to go with a trailer hitch only, I recommend the Curt Class III Trailer Hitch # 13559. The maximum towing capacity is 5,000 pounds and tongue weight is 500 pounds when equipped with weight distribution, or 3500/350 pounds without. I always recommend looking at your Owner's Manual to double-check the towing capacities on your 2014 Volvo XC90. The wiring is Tow-Ready # 118411 and ball mount recommended is Draw-Tite # C45010.
I have also included a FAQ for you too.
